Why is player housing so coveted in the community?

how else can we even use it?

i use it to access the various NPCs instead of looking for their counterparts in the cities, that's about it.

I very luckily acquired a small in the last wave and I've been so happy to finally have this outlet to express myself with the interior design. Housing has always been my endgame, I think quite a few people share that endgame goal as well.

I'd use it more if there was more to do with it. If I could let my minions roam in my house, I'd come home more often to see what the little rascals have been doing (and making sure Mini-Bahamut didn't blow the place up with his adorable mini-Dalamud). If I could load back into my house whenever I came out of DF, I'd do it all from inside the house. If I could log out by sleeping in the bed in my house, I'd be logging out from the house. If I could run a store from my house, I'd be running a store. Etc etc.

There's a lot of amazing things they could do, but haven't done. Right now owning a house is just a cosmetic with a single function (gardening) attached to it.

Yep, the true end-game for many is fashion and housing is an extension of that.

glamour is definitely my endgame, i spend more time changing my characters outfits then i do anything else, that and going afk inside my house

That's exactly my endgame as well. Funnily enough going afk is just what I do in a ton of games. My steam hours in many games are entirely bloated due to it.

If glamour is endgame then this game is apparently pay to win.

That's on SE and not on the players. Other MMOs with housing have gone the fully instanced route.

They don't have all the problems associated with limited ward housing.

More importantly, limited ward housing, consumes more server resources as the exteriors are always loaded. Adding more wards as SE has been doing, is not a scalable long-term solution.

SE has had nearly 10 years with this failed experiment on player housing in terms of access for the majority of players.

SE could do the following:
1. Improve upon apartments. Make them upgradeable for gil all the way to condos/penthouses.

Improved apartments could act as a gil sink as well as reduce the demand for ward housing if they were a viable alternative.

2. Maybe Island Sanctuaries can be fully instanced housing.

oh you mean like lost ark ? with every single house looking near identical to all others ? yeah if that is that then no thanks
BUT
i wouldnt mind a system like new world (damn im saying something good bout this game) half instanced half what we have now, with best house rated by other player, shown in the lot
would also fix the issue with player gettign a house and never doing anything with it, beside gardening

Dunno but I love owning a Mist 5 and then only logging in to save it from demo lol
