Please Square/Enix let me choose how I can Play my Warrior...

Based on posting history, I don't believe OP to be a troll and the request appears to be genuine.

However, their replies so far bring to light why they seem to encounter so much hostilities in their groups: they are the one initiating them. I had initially suspected as much but wanted to give them benefit of the doubt.

There have been plenty of polite and level-headed responses to your inquery. You can accept them and try to reconsider your position or offer equally reasonable counterpoints but going to war with everyone that disagrees with you isn't going to accomplish anything.

while i agree jobs should have had the option to be another role. (example being WAR) the current tank design already makes you a DPS.
the only difference is, that when a DPS cant stand in bad, you usually can. but to compensate for that, you have to press CDs to make sure u can keep DPSing, and not be dead. (Which is no different than a DPS not standing in bad, so they dont die, and can continue to DPS)

its literally just a DPS with a tank stance.

your experience wouldnt be any different as a DPS, other than WAR currently having a rather simplistic rotation. If ppl are complaining, it wouldnt be much different if u did the same thing as a DPS. (example, if you choose to AoE less mobs as a tank, ppl would still be mad at you for AoEing only half the pack of mobs as a DPS)

I've been playing FFXIV since 1.0 and I have rarely encountered hostility toward tanks that are even just mediocre. In my experience you have to be screwing up a run pretty heinously to have someone be aggressively vocal or derogatory to you. I'm not referring to people giving advice or being constructive - if you choose not to receive well-intended conversation that's on you.

Based on my experience, and how you're choosing to respond to people on this thread, I'm inclined to believe that if you're consistently getting negative feedback then the problem might be more to do with your attitude rather than with the other players you encounter. You seem to get defensive instead of trying to engage in a productive conversation. You're approach in your other thread was very much "don't tell me how to play my role", while speaking poorly of how others play their roles. That's just asking for negativity.

The whole 'Is this a racism?" debate has nothing to do with the original topic, and OP is the one going off the rails, so I think it may be a good time to lock the thread and move along. Nothing productive is going to be said from this point forward.

I'm finding it exceedingly hard to take this topic seriously considering you've been playing for; at least, two years if your forum join date is anything to go by. You have a few jobs to 80 and several pushing 60+ and the majority of DoL and DoH maxed out. You know how this game works.

If you're asking for different specs/play styles like WoW/GW2 (respectively) then, no. Hell no. WoW is a balancing nightmare that even after 17 years the devs can't seem to get right. In terms of a GW2 style, that would just make our inventory/armory system even more of a cluster **** than it already is; also specs would present the same problem, so that's a hard pass. If it's systems like those that you're looking for then there's good news, those games exist with those play styles and one of them is even free to play.

Tanks are tanks, healers are healers, dps are dps. You chose tank, play the role or switch.

If I reduce you to a country because of your Name and tell you then so, is it okay to do so? Even if i don't know you. Would you like it? Dear Aneshda,

Common sense is a thing, and the world lives with it. You might want to be "out of the box", but common sense will weigh you back down. Therefore, you should (if possible) have some of it, too. SE might add some more flashy skills to make it seem like WAR is doing big damage, but it will never - EVER - be a DPS (or DD as you keep calling it).

If the game is causing you so much distress, I suggest you leave it and play something else to have a peace of mind.

Go ahead and re-read your original post. It's not a "simple request" that you made. You came in with a rant about how everyone else makes tanking a bad experience for you. You didn't create a post designed for constructive conversations about the real benefits of choosing role. Instead, you focused on why you should play how you want because of your disdain for others. If you're going to start a thread with negativity, then you've already set the tone for what follows.
