o.o why do you guys go on saying 15$? when it's 12.99 which is 4cent more then FFXI. Did you really think ffxiv would be 14.99$ like every other mmo? or are you in EU or something?

Me. (need to put 10 or more character to post)
Exactly and most(including me) don't see this game complete until about a year. Unless they just speed things up and patches get thrown at us in HUGE bulk. That won't happen though according to Yoshi-P. Even the major stuff will be released bit by bit.
They did similar things back in JP FFXI release. Only thing is the rest of the world can experience it first hand this time around. Also, it would be better for business if they come up with an expansion with Ps3 release to lure people besides throwing the same trailers around. If not what will they say? Eorzea sucked a year ago but hey check it out now!
I'll definitely be playing. I knew getting into FFXIV that it could take a year or more from launch to tighten up the game. Same thing happened with FFXI. Was out in Japan for a year before we saw it in the US and it was still a mess. 9 yrs later and it's an enjoyable game. I'm patient. :)
I took advantage of an exchange opportunity close to launch and bought a bunch of Crysta. As a result, I've essentially prepaid for a year of the game. When the game turns over to subscription, if I'm not fully convinced it's ready, I will stagger my payments. Pay for a month, try it out, cancel if I'm not satisfied and come back in a couple months and do it again.
If the money is still on my account in a year's time, I'll just put it toward some Square-Enix merch.
i stopped playing in December because i am very busy with work and some other things, but i log in sometimes to see what's new. I will follow the progress and keep playing (as i already have purchased some crysta)
let's see... as long as i can have fun there is no reason to quit
