The word weeb as an insult has lost a little bit too much of its punch. With how many people jokingly declare themselves a weeb the actual weebs have become more brazen than is good for us.

I don't see it used any differently from the way people toss the phrase Karen around. A difference however I noticed is that real weebs actually treat it more like a compliment than an insult. Same for Otaku. Infact businesses have even started adopting those phrases into their advertisements. Maybe it's origins were intended to be a slur but it's definitely one that has backfired over the years.

its kinda funny. the word nerd was once pretty much in the same spot. people looked down on nerds... now its whatever a nerd isnt a bad thing.
with more and more manga, anime, etc swapping over the word weeb came too. i think i've seen it especially on asmongolds channel how hard nerds looked down on weebs even though its pretty much the same just western and eastern.
and now weeb becomes more and more normal. no need to see it as a bad thing.
