Those low prices on the market board...

The thing that annoys me is how drastic the price has dropped for certain crafting matts. Leather, Lumber, Ingots and Nuggets etc.... Pre-5.1 an Aurum Regis nugget (lvl 60 mat) sold for about 5-8k NQ, because they had to be crafted. Now you can desynth them for free from lvl 60 gear without even having a level 60 crafter (i think) the prices have been drastically flutuating between 4k....and 250 gil. Its ridiculous how much people undervalue stuff just because the supply is suddenly increased, especially how it reflects HQ prices despite HQ not being very common at all from desynth. If something is selling for 5k, sell it for 5k, dont just shrug and put it up at 250 gil and crash the market just because you happened to get it from a desynth, and have no use for it yourself.

The new desynth has definitely dropped prices across the board.
You pick up a lot more crap gear than you realize when doing roulette's, most people don't have desynth leveled or didn't have the right ones leveled so it would just be tossed at your CG for seals, but it's not like there's anything of particularly high value you can buy with company seals, many just leave their seals capped out cause whaddamigonnadowithem.
So now everyone is desynthing everything.
Whatever you get can't be worth much less than the seals, right?

I'm glad I was able to dump my stash of hundreds of Battlecraft Materia III's for 10k each prior to the change. I personally knew that all of the prices would be effected, but not to this level. I mean, its to be expected when everyone can desynth now, but woo, Im right there with you feeling the pain of the market crash. I feel dumb for leveling desynth personally. It was pretty time consuming and the 'reward' for that, for me anyways, was being able to generate free gil lol

That's not that bad.
I'll buy all of them and sell to npc then. They are few Gil but a contribute to cleanness of the board!

I agree with you on this, I feel like it was a waste of time and gil to level Weaver, leatherworker and Goldsmith desynth up.

Now that everyone can desynth, the market is crashed and items that makes gil is the crafts with the most complex items to make that has to be HQ, it's just very rare items like the dark night Pegasus whistle

All those crafting mats you get from desynth, you might as well give them to the doman enclave and get some decent gil

I think this every time I see either of these things. Why do people undercut so much? Do they not want to make money? Do they not care about making a good chunk of change and just want to get rid of the item as fast as possible?

Honestly, I undercut all the time, but its by like 1-5 gil, just because I know if someone comes along looking for that item, they are going to buy the cheapest one by default, even if its 1 gil less than the next one. But I hate it when I go to my retainer a day later and go to adjust the price of my items, only to see that I am not going to make less than half what I could have made the day before if I want to competitively price my item again. And then of course there is, like you said, the times where now the item is selling for less than the vendor price. I either just leave the price of mine alone or go vendor mine in that situation.

I don't really understand the psychology of why people do these things.

Sad thing is that unless you actually use the mats you're desynthing (or just doing it for skillups), theres a LOT of stuff thats still just better to seal and sell the seal mats than try to sell the desynth product. Those years old "heres the stuff you can buy for seals that sell well" guides are still pretty relevant. Scheelite might be less useful now, but if it starts with 'Raziq', its annoying to get and probably sells better than any random nugget, lumber, ingot, or xcraft 2 materia.

By posting for 1 gill less you are saying, "get to the back of the line I am more important". You aren't establishing a new price point. You aren't trying to maximize profits.



Destroy probably means they are willing to go down to a price that makes you wonder why you even put up. I had a few items where someone kept posting for 1 gil less. So i just kept dropping it by 10k. They never sold their stuff and took all of them off MB. Lots of junk on MB is venture stuff anyways. So it was zero investment and just the few seconds to click retainer. Spent more work repricing junk then actually getting it.
