Also I know this is radical/controversial but I do think the one house per account policies needs to be retroactively enforced, and that should including houses owned by FCs that the account holder is the leader of on various characters.

This I wouldn't mind - I think 1 personal / 1 FC per account is more than enough. There's no reason why some people should own near-entire wards. But, if SE were to do this, then they should make it so that all characters on the account can utilize the house. As it stands, they cannot unless they're all part of the same FC. Would love to have my alts share my personal house :/
You know, for all that talk about immersive experience, I'm surprised that the houses don't come with the option of making them larger or smaller as per your liking (as long as you have the money for the in-game equivalent of renovations).
Still waiting on SE giving gardening options to homeless people though.
It has nothing to do with apartments, FC rooms, or additional wards, and everything to do with it being far too late in FFXIV's life cycle to scrap over five years of development on an existing system for something that would have needed to be put in place from day 1 to be even remotely plausible. Do you not understand the amount of coding, additional server architecture, and map redesign needed to make instanced housing a reality? What about the number of employees that would have to be pulled from other projects just to to make it happen? What you're proposing would set FFXIV so far back it may never recover.
At the end of the day, a house is optional fluff; it doesn't make or break your game experience. For those that want to decorate and train their bird, there's apartments or FC rooms. The 'problems' you speak of are self-manifested; not a reality.
Part of the reason here is that they want it to be hard. They designed it that way, they stated multiple times why they did it that way, and they've stuck to it so far. There's no actual solution to the current design conundrum. Any potential fixes would just screw over a different demographic or imply a complete design shift that isn't necessary. (for the love of god no instanced housing "ideas", there's a reason it isn't happening ever)
Some people are bound to be unhappy in pvp limited end game. Strangely enough the most devoted players I know almost all managed to get larger housing even WITHOUT the ward expansion. I can think of one person who was fully devoted and missed out because he got unlucky and got logged out of his queue barring him from moving to a mansion. But that's about it and I know for sure he'll get it eventually.
It's a long and tedious process and those willing to put the most effort are also those more likely to end in success. Simple nature of pvp. Especially when FCs have the advantage of increasing their opportunities by sending out multiple members.
what ticks me off is that fact there are fc's with large plots but only 2-3 people in the fc, if they were to do a system like you are proposing they would and should overhaul the criteria of how an fc own a lot.Sort of like a member requirement.Like for a small plot need 25 members, medium plot 100 members large plot 200 members and this would have to be active members.Yes that can be fine tuned like what happens if you fall below that count and etc but i am sure something can be done.Tiring seeing everyone and their dog wanna make their own fc because they wanna lead one and have control then buy plots when only few in their fc.Disagree with me all ya want but it the truth and an issue that should be addressed.
Imo create an instanced garden for every character, and move fc workshop to its own instance, which can be accessed via housing or some other place if no house exists.
And then take all of the profit out of it.
Better yet, make it so 1 account on 1 world has access to 1 garden, separate from housing, and the potential to purchase 1 personal house, non instanced. FC Housing would be instanced.
this might sound crazy, but i would like to see yoshi add a ghetto like housing in uldah. it will add more option to RPer, like imagine WoL who cant even afford decent housing and have to live with the refugee in a not so clean environment, but still kill primal left and right...
