The 5.X era Relic Weapons

Relics are an alternative to everything. Remember, when new EX fights come out, their weapons are STRONGER than the relic for a while, as are crafted and savage weapons. The relic is a long-term investment for an eventual ultimate weapon for an expansion. Basically, they're an Infinity -1 Sword that eventually becomes an Infinity +1 Sword.

They need that translucent glow the +1 Elemental Armor has from Hydatos. That's far better and easier to deal with, and you don't have to go crazy with particle effects. You know it's powerful because it's glowing!

I hope they start the relics for shb in 5.1 but I don't think it'll happen till 5.2 or 5.3.

Either way when they do show up for this expansion I want eureka back, I really enjoyed it with fc mates and friends alike, it had some down points but overall it was one my favorite things about SB.

If they add some new way or even if they put the old way of doing relics back in, I hope a new eureka is still an option for doing relics in SHB

If release on 5.2 means just skipping into the 5.2 tier ilvl for our first Relic then I will be fine with that choice.

I just hope that the task to obtain relic isn't as annoying as Eureka and provide options to progress through both Solo and Party play.

It depends on the release timing.

SB relics spent the majority of their life cycle in obscurity because Eureka was delayed multiple patches and the release schedule for the 4 zones was different than they expected, which led to relic weapons being viable for ~2 weeks at the most until the final step.

HW relics traded back and forth with other weapons (except for that point when Diadem weapons beat everything...).

ARR relics were better than the original coil weapons, then the coil weapons were patched to be slightly better outside the customized stats phase of the relics.


When relics actually get released before the .2 patch, they're competitive. When they spend their entire life a full step behind, they're not.
