I disagree with your statement that it is objectively not true that the class feels different due to the sound changes. I believe that it does in fact feel different.
Sure, mechanically the class is very well put together and is also solid from a numbers point of view. Sound obviously doesn't change this. However, I don't just play jobs based on their numbers. I play based on how they 'feel' to play. Sound design is factored into the overall umbrella of how a class 'feels.'
Without getting too personal, there were some negative things going on in my life leading up to Shadowbringers release, but something I was looking forward to more than anything else was the gunbreaker, simply because of the animation and sounds. The sharp sound of the blade, the clinking of the mechanical bits, the clarity of the slice, and the click and pull of the trigger. Mix this with the aetherial blue spray that flies off during certain attacks and I was sold. This alone brought me joy. So when the game came out my plan was to level RDM first through the story, then focus on the GNB. I would even take breaks, switch to GNB, and hit target dummies just to remind myself what I was looking forward to. Then as soon as I was done with the story they changed the sounds. So the animations and all that are still great, but they took away part of what brought me joy. This is why I feel upset, personally.
Am I foaming at the mouth demanding justice? Nah, that's just silly. But I will chime in with others to try to get this change reversed if I can. I will even probably still play it even though earlier I said I was done lol.
Anyway, just remember that we all at least have in common our desire to make this game the best it can be even if our opinions differ
