New names please and thank you.
The server doesnt make the people in it. The people in it do make the server ^^
Well if they announce the New Server Names and the New Server Names are the top 10 Servers, that would change everything because then there is no need to close the top ten servers.
The only logical option then is to close the bottom 8 servers and allow those players to choose which World to go to.
Maybe bump up the population cap to 1500-2000 for the top 3 Worlds.
Heck, we really should just have 3 Worlds with 3333 population each.
Unfortunately, I picked Besaid as the server me and my friends would play on back at launch before we found out it was overran with RPers and have been copping a lot of flak for it since. So I too would love to see the server names beforehand so I can get the hell off Besaid!
Have any of these "petition" threads ever actually worked? I dont ask as a means to troll, but rather, I am genuininly curious because I keep seing them pop up over several different issues.
As a piece of advice to the OP, I would spend less time working a petition thread that probably won't work considering this is all happening in a few weeks, which indicates they are moving foward with this, and more time creating threads tha organize the friends on your server so you all end up together. Spend less time trying to change things that can't be changed and more time changing things you can. Just my 2 cents though.
I don't really think we need to have names revealed after all just yet. It's not the server name that makes Besaid, it's the players/community. The reasoning behind Yoshida's explanation is a tad bizarre but I'm not going to fret over it too much.
Bohdum is pretty dead. Always has been. And actually I am the biggest misfit of all. I have been playing since November 2010 yet I have no LS and an empty Friends List.
We need an "Island of Misfit Toys" World.
If you'd spend more time
after a server merge and less time
you'd probably be a lot happier with the idea.
You can start a new community from a merge just like you can a shuffle. It may be harder, but it's entirely possible. Likewise, this shuffle could result in the same tightly-knit "You don't belong!" attitude you think is inherent to merges. That's all on the part of the community; if the community doesn't want to expand, it won't; I think that the XIV community would welcome expansion right now, though. I understand that you have negative experience in the matter from FFXI, but I have rather positive experience from FFXI. Fairy->Sylph worked well for me. My LS moved and gained new characters. I can honestly say that I didn't lose a single friend, and gained many. I was myself, and became part of the community. "Fitting in" shouldn't be something you have to try to do. And in my experience the destination server does not purposefully shun the new members.
