I don't get what the fuss is about. Just talk to your friends and go to the same server. ...
If they aren't playing now... well.. i wouldn't count on it anyway :p

Yes, it's all well and good for my current active ls members. We can talk and figure out where our new home is.
But I have a couple close friends I've made over the months, one is off at boot camp and the other is having some medical issues. Both of them won't be around for the merge, and even though they'll be back soon, they'll get tossed to some random server!
Seriously, wtf SE? Either merge a server into another one, or allow returning players to choose. Don't auto kick them to randomness.
Hmmm...you got me thinking (dangerous I know). Maybe we the community could categorize the Worlds before we transfer, ie.
#1-3 Worlds are for peeps with maxed out 50's on everything.
#4-6 Worlds are for peeps with multiple 1's/Low Levels.
#7 World is for Role Players.
#8 is for Solo Players and RMT. ;>P
#9 World is Limbo for all the peeps who didn't choose in time.
#10 is the Unofficial Non-English Speaking Server.
I would choose #5 myself (I still have plenty of Low Levels) if anyone cares to join me or wants to avoid me.
I don't know how they could possibly have done this in a worse way.
You suck Square Enix. Way to show that you know absolutely nothing about what the majority of MMO players play for (friends/linkshells/community).
i picked my server selbina cause i had attachments to the name. wtf SE. The jp are saying the exact same thing >.>
I don't understand? Why not tell all of your /friendlist to go to the same World? Seems like people are overreacting? If a world fills up, remember what SE said, you can STILL CHANGE your choice before switches occur. If a world fills up, merely tell your /friendlist that you can't get on, and have everyone apply to another, less populated server. EASY! :D
Kira, it's bad for those players not present at time of merge. They'll get put in some random server, thus losing friends.
