[Request] Please Suspend Housing Demolition for NA

Half the reason we're asking for this is because SE already suspended house demo after Japan's earthquakes under the same pretense.

The arguments put forth that players caught in the disaster should be worried about other things (no duh) is moot when SE has shown that they ate willing to care for players in widespread IRL disasters.

Honestly, to me it sounds a touch shady when people say they should just get over it if them not having access to power/internet/working PC or console/home to return to for month is not a good reason to prevent affected players from losing a massive chunk of digital investment.

I think if you have to preface the argument with, "I'm going to come off as a jerk" or "be logical here," then you must realize you read as not empathetic to what's actually happening. Or worse, hoping to actually see plots open up from this. Be better. Please.

Japan is only 2.2 times bigger than Florida... it made sense for them to do it for Japan when it was a NATIONAL catastrophe, In the case of NA it SIMPLY DOES NOT APPLY as the servers give service to a vast amount of player beyond the affected area.

The thing is, you would presumably use this logic to justify NEVER suspending the timer...except they've already done it once after the Fukushima earthquake. Which means your entire point is moot, since now that SE has established precedent, then the only issue that matters is applying it in a way that is consistent and fair.

It's called empathy. I sincerely doubt anyone effected by these disasters is concerned over their virtual house, however you've missed the point entirely. This would only serve as a kind gesture that scarcely impacts anyone in-game but may provide a little peace of mind. Regardless, you somewhat contrast yourself with your subsequent post. Assuming the majority of people don't care, as you purpose they shouldn't, then rushing to get online within a 45 day span just to step inside their house isn't going to be a priority. Although the hurricanes may subside, it could be several weeks before people can return to their homes-- or what remains of them. Does Square Enix have to do anything? No. And I wouldn't begrudge them one way or another. They simply could, and people are supporting that. It was nothing to do with "m'feelings."

yea there's a larger area to cover in the US but the jist is the same. NA subscribers want to be able to NOT have to worry about having to login to refresh the real estate demolition timer when they have more important things to deal with like REPLACING THEIR HOUSE or FIXING their roof if they were affected. Seisha, You would advocate for a suspension if you had a natural disaster heading your way or had family members affected, right? The suspensions Square put in place could easily have been applied to the Japanese datacenter but were applied to all servers.

As someone who doesn't own a house, I am okay with this.

It's not just Florida (or Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina, California, Washington, Utah, Idaho, New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, holy hell that's a lot) it's Mexico AND THE ENTIRE CARIBBEAN.

Yes, Japan is larger than Florida, but Florida isn't the only part of the world in the Americas that's taking major damage right now!

The hurricane things have been going on for let's just say 14 days; that would mean that for the other 31 days, they couldn't have been bothered to refresh the demo timer.

You know what would be really nice for some people who lost their houses/pets/belongings/loved ones in huge storms and fires? Coming back to the one thing they enjoy spending time on and not finding that since they DID have to worry about boarding up windows, making sure they had enough food and supplies to survive if they got isolated with no power or water, moving their families to another location and keeping them calm and taken care of that someone has DEMO'D their hard won virtual house they get enjoyment out of.

NOBODY is putting virtual real estate above actual homes, the sentiment here Mr/Mrs/Ms "cold calculating logic" is that these people are all going through hard times and it'd be nice if we took one thing off their minds that really doesn't affect anyone else.

you say the virtual world doesn't matter then suggest they take time out of their disaster preparations to check in and make sure that their virtual obligations are taken care of too, so you're not only insensitive, but counter your own arguments. Some people have walked back to their properties after the storms/fires and found NOTHING left, you really think the first thing they're gonna think of is: "oh better find a computer and an internet connection to go renew my demo timer". It's not: storm over , go home and login. You go back to where your home WAS, and figure out whether you rebuild or relocate.

This isn't "the feels" , this is compassion and doing what little can be done by strangers to make their lives an infinitesimal bit less troublesome.

Your post implies you either have never been through a disaster or are a sociopath. You suggest disaster victims are LAZY, then congratulate yourself for seeing "the truth" with a "/slowclap".

Keep in mind that Texas is also in recovery mode. Harvey was a thing. If we're talking landmass, as your 2.2x comparison to Florida statement is to be given credit, Japan is barely half the size of Texas.

Under the pretense of peace of mind in light of devastating RL circumstances, given their act for when the earthquake hit Japan, it only seems right. Granted however that it's not a big deal either way. It's a simple gesture for the sake of relief in context, akin to random situations like remembering to cut your nails lol. Whether or not it happens is irrelevant given the situation. If they do it, great. If they don't, oh well.

Even though I don't live in Florida or the east side of Texas, I support this. Even if the land/area around the hurricanes recover, companies might not send repair crews until it is too late for players to log on.
