The new story's up - "A Calm After the Storm"

Thancred x Y'shtola... the ship that sank even before it sailed. And, no, she doesn't think of the WoL that way either. ;)

Talking of ships, if Widargelt is the lad crushing on Lyse I'm going to go punch a Moogle. That's far too tidy a solution to Ala Mhigo's government question.

I liked this story more than the previous one.
Plenty of little seeds planted - the investigation Krile is on, the new advisor Lyse has recruited and the mine she was searching for, and the guy Alphinaud was hanging about with.

Also, best line :D

"Yes. I am famed for my sense of humor," Y'shtola agreed, her face stony.

It was a pleasant little short story. What is the bet that in 4.1 we will have a quest to meet those three in Limsa? If we don't I will be disappointed.

Lyse is also now particularly special as the first NPC with two different changes of clothes:P

I suspect Lyse was talking about Yugiri when she spoke about Hein's 'admirer'. As for Y'shtola, I have no idea where she was going with those comments.

Actually, not Yugiri, but a xaela. From the Mol. Guess who. ;)

As for the guy Alphinaud is crushing on... He carries a spear. And was last sighted at the Royal Menagerie. That's my guess anyway.

And it sure sounds as though Y'shtola has romance in her future, even if she doesn't appear to have anyone specific in mind... yet.

I laughed.

While I understand the limitations of the English language, it does feel slightly jarring to read of the WoL as being male, since I had subconsciously assumed that this outing at the patisserie was basically a Girls Only event or some such. EDIT: Never mind, I failed my spot check. We can switch genders for our WoL.

Alphinaud is still pining over Estinien-senpai.

Have we already met Lyse's new advisor? Or is he a brand new unseen character? I can't think of anyone in the Gyr Abania side of the expansion who is both around Lyse's age and knows a lot about Ala Mhigan politics and history. (Wiscar doesn't fit the latter, and he doesn't seem all that smitten by Lyse either.)

I'm not sure if it's just Y'shtola, or if the Scions actually really don't know that much about each other, to the point where the first candidate for a significant other Lyse thought of for Y'shtola was Thancred, another Scion. Either way, it's a little sad.

There is a switch at the top of the story to set WoL gender

There should be some tick-boxes at the start of the story, to the right of the title, that'll let you set the WoL to your preferred gender.

Some statistics suggest most people meet their significant others in school/college, or at work. Beyond that, it's usually a friend/relative of a friend or colleague. So, not unusual to pair a Scion with another Scion.

The lesser Scions (ie, the Boulder brothers and the two sisters) seem to be "getting along" quite well. :3
