All tanks I know already have leveled all 3 to 70. What they do now in leveling roulette? They level dps!
That creates very few career tank/healers beyond those that will naturally exist. Yoshi recognized this in an interview if I remember correctly. So making a snappy new tank job doesn't increase the number of tanks. and making a new flashy healer similarly doesn't help, primarily it re-distributes existing healers and tanks to the new jobs.
In the short term perhaps, but in the long term I disagree. People play tank because they like to play tank. People who don't play tank don't play it because they don't want the baggage that comes with it. Samurai as nice as it is doesn't erase the elements of being a tank that drive people away.Quote:
We'd all be singing one hell of a different tune if they opted to make SAM a tank as many of us requested.
The deal that bothers me more about how lopsided this all is comes down to the fact that no one seems to care that adding nothing but new DPS jobs is going to cause our smaller pool of tanks and healers to stagnate and shrink.
The fact that SE is stuck bribing us to tank instead of playing the shiny new jobs that are far more fundamentally sound within the new battle format is a problem.
The long and short of it is, the idea that ALL players who play tank and healer are going to ignore the new jobs, dislike the new jobs, and fall back on the old ones based on role responsibilities alone is wrong. Completely wrong. Just like there is nothing preventing DPS mains from switching to tank and healer, there is equally nothing preventing the opposite. At least, other than those queue times.
And clearly the opposite is happening, as the DPS queues are still longer than pre-Stormblood despite it getting better with the cracked cluster bribe.
It's a circular argument. I feel like it's going to push the community into further bribery and guilt tripping to keep the current tanks and healers from playing DPS instead of giving everyone interesting and dynamic alternatives.
I think 2 new DPS only was a mistake, period. The damage is done, and in the future we need SE to give the players who are willing to tank and heal something instead of relying on the few tanks and healers that don't want to DPS to handle everything.
I play healer and occasionally Tank (levelign it up past 60). Leveling roulette is boring and mindnumbing because all of your abilitys are gone. I would run them more if all Abilitys would stay intact but toned down accordingly to the level of the roulette. Just like Palace of the Dead. This is the reason why i mostly dont even touch Leveling Roulette.
Cant really add a new Tank or Healer class as well, we have a shield healer, a pure healer and a buff/jack of all trades healer...so what kind of healer do we add now? Without taking to much from the others to make them all the same.
Same with Tanks we got our defense king Pally, we got a smash zerg war(Vote Make WAR great again), then we with a mid ground DRK.
Kinda sucks, i mean maybe a Magical themed tank could work, but what about healers? I feel we need more Support classes then anything.
Also dont forget MCH kinda pretty much sucked in HW so not many wanted to try it out, while RDM and SAM are very good classes and fun to play.
Generally people want to burn and kill stuff in mmo rather than controlling and restoring stuff,
Agree that more support classes would be better, but I think a support class can easily be adapted into a healer role. I'd like to see a healer with a stronger emphasis on utility than AST -- or a healer that uses damage output/their own health to heal. (I'm really rooting for utility-based Dancer as healer for 5.0.) There's a lot of potential for new tanks/heals, but that's another topic.
So if that is the reason. Which you are right he claimed. Why add new dps? All it does is redistribute dps or worse remove healers/tanks from an already small pool. That argument is so flawed I wouldn't even want to be associated with it. The better response would be the SE no response when they do something poorly planned.
I would have been more accepting of the we can only do 2 jobs per expansion. We are going to see what 2 dps and then healer + tank work out for player base. Is it a great plan no, but you can respect that answer more over what we got.
On a side thing. This game doesn't have XP items like click on an item get 800k in xp. So while it is not in the system other games do have this. If the adventurer in need gave an item that gave an equal amount of xp and grouped people don't get in need bonus. X players has all tanks at 70 and doesn't mind queing as tank but wants the bonus xp for dps he could get the bonus xp and fast que and lower the amount of people in que. To the people that argue they won't learn their class. Beast tribes/hunts/challenge log/fates don't really teach that much and if patient the xp was really good. In HWs when you get the hang of the quests think it was a couple levels a week 30 mins a day. That content is so mindless you can't argue they learned anything.
Well as someone who healer a majority of content in this game its the most stressful job, so i find add a DPS/Healer that can act as a third healer in group would work, bit like Chloromancer from Rift, heals with damage the Dancer sounds like a nice idea but SE really need to tone down the pressure on the most vital roles, this is why people turn to DPS, cause its easier to play and less stressful.
You play a game to have fun, not the stress out about trying to heal a raid every second cause of massive damage. Maybe they need to add more rewarding skills to Healers and tanks for using them at the right times, then just making a Tanky HP block to soak damage and a Mana battery that pumps out mass heals for healing.
Maybe a healer with a rotation would be a nice idea.
