That is not at all what I got from the 30-50 or 50-60 questlines for Dark Knight. 30-50 was coming to terms with the trauma of being a hero--of facing down gods and other mind-shattering monstrosities only to be treated like less than the mud beneath a merchant's heel. It's not succumbing to that pain, it's surpassing it and using it. The 50-60 questlines, much less about mastering the self than before, further explain that Dark Knight's power comes not from angsty evil, but just from the pure power of emotion.
Fray died defending a little girl from injustice. Sidurgu nearly did the same. Neither of them became Dark Knights "for an excuse to kill" and neither did my character.
