[patch1.20] NO GC Seals to rank up!!!

I would have preferred a series of missions (at least 3 per rank) required to raise in rank. The lowest rank you could do solo, the next rank would require 2 players to accomplish, the next 4 players. As a bonus and incentive for players who have already completed the missions to help out players who haven't, they would receive a significant amount of seals upon completion. The missions could be easy to create:

1) Kill 100 enemies in this area
2) Instanced raid (turn Darkhold into grand company mission, who does this anymore anyway?)
3) Defeat certain NM's
4) Defend the city from an attack (cool!)
5) Retrieve a rare medicine from a remote area to cure the princess
6) Submit a set of spiritbonded military issue equipment
7) Attune yourself to 4 specific aetherytes that are very challenging to reach
8) Attune yourself to all the aetherytes in your cities zone
9) Protect a caravan from your city to another
10) Deliver an important message by chocobo from one city to another in a certain amount of time

Implementing the grand companies is a good idea, but to make it a great idea, make it resemble real life. Soldiers are promoted by their action on the battlefiled not by speding military credits.

There is a lot of potential here, please take advantage of it. Making you feel part of the militaries in Eorzea could be a huge and immersive part of this game. Check out the anime series "Full Metal Alchemist" for a neat portrayal of a fictional military system. Also, the faction quest lines from "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" does a great job portraying the advancement of a character through the ranks of a military system.

Haha first thing I thought when I read the thread title.

I personally have no problem with using GC seals to increase my rank we have known this since GC were first introduced hence why I have saved my seals.

I don't really mind it considering there's a quest after each threshold of ranks.

Oh for all that is good...:

1) Escorts/missions/GC leves ALL of that REQUIRES work to get the seal
2) The seals you earn from your hard work will in turn GIVE you your rank once you spend the amount required of you to rank up.
3) Seals= Work Work= Rank up

Sounds pretty stupid they're doing this, but we've been told before they intended on doing so. Ain't any form of griping now really gonna change it. But the bonuses in going up in rank better be worth it! Looks like I'm off to go complete some GC leves, I've got a 99 allowance ahead of me to spend. By the way... What'd help more is if there were say actual bonuses involved for some of the GC leves. For example, you could do the one where you have to clear out a certain set of enemies yet you don't get much of a bonus for killing any over the limit. I could go on a mass slaughter and only get 10 extra credits, not much of a bonus... I'm usually just left doing it on the lowest rank and killing what's needed to be killed and sitting around afterwards because there's no point in killing any more past the required mark, nor is there purpose to increase the difficulty.

If you want to get a promotion you have to pay us for the privilege. It takes a lot of funds to pay for all that armor we make you buy so w-Hey wait! Where are you going?! Come back! It's only a measly thousand marks for the first promotion, and then more for the next one, see you need to go from third class to second class then to fir-Hey! Don't flip me off! I'm serious! Waaaaaait!"
