This would be the best thing they could do! Also, at no time are you asking to "unlock" all the equipment at the same time, they could do it slowly, a few per patch!
And people who do not like the idea, can simply refrain from using this glamour :D

Just like how they can refrain from using jump potions, amirite?
If Glamour restrictions are removed is their really a purpose for Artifact gear then and other job/role specific gear?
Agree op 100%
I see no harm at all allowing jobs to share the gear appearance. If pvp can wear bikinis or reindeer outfits(which I'm not sure if they can..but IF they can..) then that 100% removes that as an excuse. 100%.
Nothing in the game is truly unique so why pretend now?
If it is simply a design nightmare to do?...could be, and in that case it will not change. Changes take years and years to occur sadly (if ever) compared to some other games it borders on painful. I don't see it happening op but I certainy do agree it would be nice.
In a game with so few races and incredibly few customization options to boot...I don't feel unique nor could I anyway Oo
Read what i am saying.
I am not talking about a gameplay standpoint, or anything like that.
I am talking about a pure technical mess it would be to create what you want. The glamour system is already tacked on as it is.
Once again, the whole system is based around you showing gear you can wear because somewhere the game actually thinks you are wearing said gear.
Now let's say we simply remove the job restrictions on any peace of gear. You just turned the loot argument into full on wars because it would mean that everyone can need on any piece of gear.
It is simply not just an easy switch and changing this would most likely revamping the entire armory system and everything around out it adjusted. We are talking about a gigantic update, all for this silly glamour.
Never said it would be simple or easy. I just said this change is something that would dramatically improve the current glamour system. Though I'd hardly call it a "gigantic" update. IMO, they SHOULD be working on an entirely new glamour system on their test servers as we speak, given how much negative feedback it's gotten over the year(s) it's been out. Something that gets constant criticisms of is something that likely deserves some changing, if not a complete overhaul.
[edit] Augh, didn't mean to double-post. Sorry about that!
Not being able to glam an artifact set from one job onto another is one of things I felt they did right with the glam system. It's all about retaining a unique look and feel for the job, and I feel it should not change. The white mage robe for instance is an iconic robe in the franchise, and it just wouldn't feel right or even look right if anyone is wearing it besides them. If I was a dev, I would state that this will never change and that will be the end of it.
Now if you want to talk role specific armor, my views aren't much different, but I feel that those that want this restriction lifted have more ammunition to argue with than with job specific armor, but arguing by saying something along the lines of "There should be no restrictions, and we should have the freedom to equip whatever we want" isn't going to get it done. That might eventually work with hairstyles and gender specific items, but with roles the devs will need much more to be convinced.
I personally have no issues with the current restrictions. I can see maybe casters and healers being able to share, also ranged and melee DPS. I think the game can benefit if items are released that these roles can each wear, but all the current gear available to us will have to remain the same.
I have to agree with OP, they need to remove the glamour restriction and while they are at it, they need to make it so two classes sharing the same outfit can glamour it into two different looking glamour.
From a gameplay point of view, we already can wear bikini, Swine, Chocobo outfits en lets not forget that Tanks have alot of options when it comes to glamouring as a caster, while the opposite has only maybe 1 glamour (The summer 2016 outfit), this alone shows that SE is starting to change the way glamour works.
From a Lore point of view, my character has joined many guilds and learned many skills, she is not only a Scholar, but also a Summoner, can not only use Magick, but also take a sword and shield since she is a free Paladin. In her spare time she help the Goldsmith guild by taking on some of the orders that they have received. In the game we have seen that no matter what class you are, if you have finished/in the middle of the level 50 Dragoon quest, Estinien will call you an Azure Dragoon, if you have finished or are in the middle of the Alchemist storyline, no matter which class you are currently are playing on, the guildmaster will call you his apprentice/assistant when he visit the Ward in the current event. This shows that some part of the game does acknowledge that the WoL is part of more then one Guild.
