Selling and buying are not the same thing.
If other people sell things for 1 gil that I have bought for millions, that's up to the people selling it, that's the free market.
Supply and demand determine the price of a product, and clearly, gil will get me items I think look cool, so I will want as much gil as I can get from any items I sell.
This has nothing to do with the rarity of said items, it has everything to do with supply and demand, even with an endless source, an item may be high in price, simply because the demand is high.
For example: mariner cotton cloth, people weren't interested before the patch with the new moonfire outfits, but afterwards because people wanted it, the demand increased.
The rarity of the item is exactly the same as before, only the demand has increased to a point where the price is as high as it is.
You can argue that an item that is low in supply is more rare because the demand outweighs the supply, but when we are talking about 1.0 items, those items can not even be obtained at all, meaning the supply is ZERO, and thus that definition of rarity does not apply, as it is simply unobtainable, not rare.

It's human nature, so get over it. People really love rare and exclusive stuff. From cars to trading cards, there is always limited edition and/or promo items that people go nuts over. Just because YOU don't care about exclusivity does not mean the rest of the human race doesn't. Consumerism is heavily motivated by 'have" and "have not" and you are asking a company to take a a limited edition item, lie to their most loyal customers about these items being limited/promotional, hurt their credibility in future promotions,and put the items in the cash shop for a dollar?

I have some advice for you, instead of getting on your high horse of entitlement, just deal with the fact that some people miss out on things. People missed out on limited edition pixels, big deal! Get over it.

Ok, I could agree with that one, too, just because of how truly unique that situation was.

I don't agree about the CE items, though. They weren't given for supporting the game specifically during it's initial iteration. At the time they were purchased, there was no assumption that they would stop being readily available. That only happened because the game failed, was discontinued for a while, and then was re-created and re-launched. But nobody anticipated back at 1.0's launch that that would happen. A CE upgrade would still make perfect sense for those.

So, as I see it:

pre-order bonuses : exclusive by how they're marketed/sold (though in fact they already made an exception when ARR was released on a new platform several months after it's first release, giving another much later chance at those same pre-orders)
legacy tattoo and chocobo : exclusive by SE's promise. These are the ones that actually were created for the express purpose of rewarding 1.0 players for supporting the initial pre-calamity game.
Dalamund horn : could be considered exclusive due to the unique circumstances of reaching the end of a game as it's closing.

CE bonuses : non-exclusive
Hermes' shoes : non-exclusive
rewards from any other quest or event in 1.0 (besides the very final quest before the game shut down) : non-exclusive
rewards from events that have or will take place in 2.0, 3.0 and beyond : non-exclusive

I just think that too many people try lumping every quest reward or event item that came during the initial run of the game as being the same as legacy rewards. They're not. The legacy tattoo and chocobo serve that purpose, but not every item they got through the whole run of 1.0/1.x.

You want me to get over wanting an item because "it's just pixels" yet you want to keep those very same "it's just pixels" to yourself, because they make you feel special, where-as I want them because I think they look cool?
Clearly you don't seem to be very invested in the actual items themselves but rather the status you think you get from them, which I can understand, but I do not agree with, as I do not think there is any status to be achieved in something that requires no effort and no skill.

I have already provided an example for this, for example, what if I have paid them 10000 times more than you, would that not make me more "loyal" of a customer than you?
If so, should I or should I not be more entitled to some of the same "exclusives" as you?
If not, why?

Sorry, but I personally think they should stay as they are, no longer obtainable.

Essentially they are a type of rare veteran rewards and the only people with them were those that played back then and bought/did what was needed at the time.

I wouldn't mind a legacy chocobo or the original goobbue mount, but I didn't get either, I certainly would have paid those few months during the qualifying period if I have known (for the chocobo), but I didn't and I didn't get. Annoying, but that's that.

As far as I remember both the Garlond Goggles (for the regular version of the game) and the Onion Helm (Collector's Edition) were available for the entire run of 1.0 (just over 2 years!). They didn't come with first editions of the game or anything like that, they just came with the game it self. Although it wasn't ideal, if someone really wanted both items, you just had to buy the game twice (I did...). Sure a collectors upgrade would have been nice, but there wasn't one. We also knew when the game was going offline for massive changes so although we didn't know 100% items would no longer be available... if they were that important it would seem then would have been a good time to actually get them before it went offline.

I don't have any of those items. I think people who played back then deserve their small amount of exclusivity. Get over it, you don't need every last item in a pretend world of pixels.

To op and other's alike. No way, no how and will never ever gonna happen. You an players that never played any part of version 1 should not nor will have these items. I and many others whom stayed playing an broken game. Helped make ffxiv what it is today. Se has stated no and forever will say no if I deleted my account and started over I loose what I've got and it's sol. It's like playing ffxi and wanting to get the teleport neck accessory from an physical item which was sold long time ago.

I will change my mind about others getting a replica, but only if they can be called herpes shoes

I think they should release the items so all the special snowflakes can get over themselves bout being legacy. Not saying all are like that ofc. Im really sick of those people posting on forums how they supported SE in their troubled times and they should have this entitlement and the like. Its disgusting.
