What does exploration mean to you?

It's literally an optional list of objectives so you can obtain some Esoterics as a bonus.

Searching for treasure or items uncovering what has not been uncovered.

Seriously it's a simple way to encourage exploration and discovery even in the hardcore groups. Sure there may wind up at the end of the day being a "Optimal" way to do things but this gives it a bit more of a air of exploration.

Day 1 after trying it:

Welp, the optional objectives thing was completely irrelevant, as indeed it was optional..... but as I exected already the "Exploration" idea was completely shoved under the carpet and turned into a zergfest monster hunt farm anyway. I guess the list itself was a sign of imminent faceplant. Thnx for the previous responses and stuff. Thought this thread would come back to mind after all this happened. :/
