Slippery slope arguments are astonishingly stupid anyways when WoW has had their cash shop for 5 years now and look they're at 10 million subs again. WoW has survived the cash shop, hell even 2 widely disliked expansions couldn't kill it. This game will be fine with cash shop too.

I believe spending money for gils will affect the market in the game, everything will become cheap, you will find less items to buy because crafting will be done for leveling rather than selling. This will be pretty much like farmville, or some online game that has a cash shop for its currency. Keep fighting RMT and don't make it official, the game has a plan to generate gils as you enjoy the quest line, I mean how hardly are you spending if you are following the right pattern while enjoying the game. Quests alone can generate 400k in total, a good start to lvl crafting and there you can accumulate your gils. I worked hard to get 1st million and pretty happy about it. I'm counting on generating more gils when all crafting jobs are capped.

SE the new go to RMT company! They're trustworthy, you know you're money is going to support the game, and the amount of gil you get for the cash you spend varies! You're almost guaranteed to get a certain number of millions of gil, but how many millions you get depends on the market. The Producer says, "NO Pay to Win!" and when a pay to win method is discovered and then abused by the playerbase, the one person we look up to the most when it comes to the future of this game, takes no action whatsoever to resolve the issue. Or there's been no mention of Yoshi P having made any comment whatsoever regarding the issue.
This is not good business. Leadership requires that quick, enforced, decisions be made and implemented. Yoshi P dragging his boots on the issue is not a good sign that our "leader" is as strong a leader as we would like to have. Is it that he doesn't want to tick off the portion of the playerbase that has money and is willing to abuse the cash shop for in game gain, or is it that his stance is more of a business stance in that if the cash shop is making more money because of the exploit, leave the exploit for financial gain on SE's end?
If you are one the many who are dropping cash on bracelets to trade, or sell on the Market Boards to make gil, you really shouldn't be proud of yourself. You're not doing yourself any favors. You're only cheating your way through the game. If only there were a way for all items purchased with gil that was bought with real money to be somehow marked indicating that said item was purchased with gil bought with real money rather than gil that was earned through hard work and effort in game. Then we could see who the "pro" players are as opposed to the lazy, pay to win, players that don't feel the need to earn their belongings.
The current debacle with the EB bracelets is just a new way for these lazy players to acquire gil with their wallets. These are mostly the same people who are the reason why RMT are still around to send spam /tells and friend requests. If people didn't purchase any gil from the RMT then they wouldn't hang around on our servers and continue to have subs paid for by the companies they work for because it wouldn't be a profittable investment. So long as people continue to support the RMT they will continue to exist. To sum things up, it really doesn't matter if they ever change the ability to sell the EB bracelets via trade, or the marketboards, as those who wish to purchase gil with real money will continue to do so, either via the Cash Shop (EB bracelets) or from RMT.
Pages upon pages of forum posts about the issue, while completely understandable, is actually not going to solve the problem of gil buying. I do, however, hope that SE take initiative and eliminate the ability for the lazy, 1337, players to make easy money by spending real money on bracelets to sell for gil. I definitely do not support gilbuying in any form. I feel that everyone should have to work, via in game actions, to earn their gear, items, and gil.
Why anyone would want a false sense of accomplishment is beyond me. Look at muh house I bought with muh real money. Ain't it great? Herp derp. I'm too lazy to work for the gil required to actually earn and pay for the stuff I want in game.
Regardless, of my stance or the stance of anyone else, if you want to buy gil, by all means do whatever you want. I certainly can't stop you and if SE aren't going to eliminate the RMT, have at it. As for me, even though I play very casually, I'll be earning every item I get through hard work and effort in game. Sense of accomplishment. {Can I have it?}
