I myself liked these "wide and empty" areas in the old version (reminds me of offline FF's and FFXI). Of course they are not as themepark alike like in ARR (no rollercoaster or something in it) but they feeled very real in contrast to now. And they have been similiar to that what i experienced in FInal Fantasy XI which i also liked very much.

Better than this, as it reminds me not of Final Fantasy but MMorpgs like AION or WoW:

Thats the thing i agree on. the old shroud of gridania was terrible designed. but thanalan and the limsa area i liked quiet much.Quote:
its very very tiny and copied/pasted corridors like the whole shroud in Gridania... Maps in ARR were a lot better designed.
i myself hope that a future Final Fantasy MMO can get a little bit back to its own identity.. less copying from WoW and other standard MMO's. for me its partly (not in all) a shame. its a good MMO now. but cant hold on to the experiences of memories from FFXI and of the old Version from FFXIV.
as much as i respect Yoshi P.'s work.. i hope for a future Final Fantasy Online game they will get tanaka back in the boat or the best would be if they coorporate both together.. but well.. a future FF' wont be so soon.. so... :-(
