So please, stop the silly arguing over a "summon" that was only in maybe 3 of the numbered FF's when they have a whole slew of others to choose from. Again you've completely missed the point. I know the summons have been in previous games in the series. My point was XIV took the exact entire set of elemental summons from XI. Come on, you can't have overlooked the fact that tons of things from XI were copied directly into XIV. Most of the common enemy models are the same, the races are the same with new names, the primals = the avatars. When SE chose to copy directly like that they set an expectation that other things might receive the same treatment. That is why people are disappointed. Fenrir and Diabolos were very important in XI but here they're just one-off bosses that you'll defeat and then forget about as they're inconsequential to the story. It's disappointing.

If the devs added your favourite job in an expansion but gutted it and made it nothing like you expected you would be disappointed. You would have a right to voice that disappointment. So why can't people voice disappointment that one of their favourite characters has been relegated to the trash heap?

As for how often any summon is actually used... that's nothing to do with the summon itself and more to do with bad balancing by the devs. You rarely see ifrit or titan summoned because the devs refuse to make them useful.

Where's the first pic of Shiva from? Unless she changes later I don't remember Shiva looking like that in 8.

I really feel like a lot of people in this topic don't realize that XI wasn't the only FF. I kind of laugh at the one comment about how all primals were based off XI, like Ifrit and Shiva never appeared in other games before. Also, Diabolos has bewn popular since the PS Era FF games. That I know of at least.

wasent fenrir mention somewhere in the lore regarding the moons and being the actual moons deity pet/companion? ...like in 1.0 or something

I have not played FFXI once. Why should FFXIV cater more to FFXI comers' expectations than others?

I will be upset that Ragnarok is not more than just a dungeon boss if appear at all! I will be upset if Phoenix is just a dungeon boss if at all! Chocobo should be a trial too just like Quezacotl, Anima, and Ixion! No fates! No dungeon bosses! Need to be better than those!
