It's actually a good example because it's a limited time offer.
And yeah, you are being selfish.

I still think it's a bad example. Something you paid for outside of the game isn't the same as something you got for a limited time only from within the game itself from a time when no one else was playing. I have a dalamud minion too, and I couldn't care less if they gave them out.
And I still don't think holding them to their word is being selfish, but apparently you do so...
But your complaint isn't necessarily about something being found in-game versus something being acquired out of it. Your complaint stems from the unique or special aspect of the goods. Otherwise, you'd have little problem with the Goobbue mount since it's, as you also said, "different". The Dalamud minion qualifies in that case as being unique and/or special. And the only reason you don't care about the minion is because of how common/simple it was for the current community to acquire... not to mention that a mount is much flashier than a minion, particularly a damn Goobbue.
I personally have all those things from 1.0, and the vet related goods, but I really don't care very much. It was bound to happen sooner or later, mainly because of how awesome of an idea it is to have. The only slap in the face that I can truly see as a worthwhile complaint (as in nothing more than a facepalm or discouraging sort of complaint) is if they released Veteran campaign and ARR one-off rewards as an option for everyone. This includes the unique vet Chocobo, the sub pricing, Lightning/XI/DQ-related goods (minus maybe the hair option), Dalamud minion, etc.
Chocobo mask, anyone?
