Testing if it actually needs to be adjacent.

So, after 4 harvest, it seems like adjacent matters to produce seeds.
Granted, 4 test plots isn't a large number, but it is following the same trends. That is the one which has an adjacent plant of a different type will produce a seed.

According to the spreadsheet, Dzemael Tomato & Honey Lemon make Apricot Kernels. Arrangement was predictable:

I got one Apricot Kernel from harvesting all eight, and harvested the Tomatoes first as suggested. The Apricot Kernel came from one of the Lemon plants. Friend in a neighbouring FC planted just the one Lemon and Pineapple and got an Apricot Kernel from the Lemon. I have now planted the same arrangement above but replacing the tomatoes with Prickly Pineapples. Let's see if it's any better.

And for anyone curious about Dalamud Popotos, I planted two seeds: one with Yield, one with Quality. I harvested 10 NQ on both plants this morning. :(

I got the Dalamud Popoto seeds from planting an arragement of Midland Cabbage, Dzemael Tomatoes and Mandrakes in the following (T = Tomato, M = Mandrake, C = Cabbage):

So that all four Tomato seeds had a neighbouring Mandrake and Cabbage. Both Dalamud Popoto seeds came from a Tomato.

Not sure if any of this is useful, but having scoured this thread I thought I'd share. Maybe somebody has some luck? :)

Well I just harvested 3 bags of Azeyma Rose seeds from planting Chamomile and Almonds:

Fyi the Azeyma Rose seeds were from the Almonds and the Chamomile yielded nothing but flowers. Also I am extremely happy :P

The alternating lavender/camomile planting was incredibly unsuccessful, despite the usual Grade 3 Thanalan soil. I got one bag out of linseed out of the whole bed, that was it.

I'm trying for apricot kernels next, mostly as that's the seed I have on hand right now. Going to try and replicate YunieAura's results from here and see if you can consistently get them from an almond/pineapple/honey lemon combo or if the other plants in the bed really do matter.

Pineapple x Honey Lemon = Apricot Kernels.
(I tested multiple times with success)

I planted in the oblong patch using Grade 3 Thanalan Top Soil, alternating Pineapple and Honey Lemon (x3 of each plant) and received x4 Bags of Apricot Kernels.

While experimenting with a Tomato's influence, I received a bag of La Noscean Leek Seeds! (Honey Lemon x Tomato x Pineapple).

I myself, have attempted the Millioncorn x Pixie Plum x Apricot Kernel in alternating patterns with no success. I yielded Wizard Eggplant seeds, Pineapple seeds, and Blood Currant seeds instead.

Therefore, my hypothesis is that by using Deluxe vegetable and fruits seeds only, I may be able to yield Glazenuts!

Today I harvested 4x Honey Lemon and 4x Prickly Pineapple in alternating plots like so:

Each Honey Lemon harvested produced an Apricot Kernel, the Pineapples produced no new seeds. Whilst I wouldn't say this is 'proof', it does coincide with just about everyone else's experiences. I would safely assume this is a very reliable way of getting Apricot Kernels. On the other hand, as with Lyra Eirstar above, I haven't had much luck with Millioncorn / Pixie Plum / Apricot Kernels. In this setup (Apricot = A, Millioncorn = M and Plums = P, obviously.)

On this occasion it has not yielded any Glazenuts, and on the occasion before, with the millioncorn and the pixie plums swapped I also didn't get any Glazenuts. This makes it three occasions in total without any Glazenut Seeds; I too am beginning to think we need Deluxe Seeds (Royal Kukuru) to grow Glazenut Seeds. Shame. :(

Slightly differing results with my patch, I got my apricot kernels from an almond + honey lemon cross, though there was a prickly pineapple planted elsewhere and it wasn't consistent, as my other almond + honey lemon combo got me almond seeds.

Grade 2 Thanalan because I'm not that dedicated.

So starting to test the oblong garden patches now. (harvest info will be updated later)
What I expect; honey lemon on the corners of 4 and 6 not produce any apricot seeds.
honey lemon on adjacent of 1, 3, and 5 will have the chance of producing apricot seeds, or some other seed.

Edit:
It seems to holding true that adjacent applies to cardinal directions, but not the diagonal ones.

Oblong garden patches supports a T-shape adjacent crossbreeding, meaning you just need 1 different plant to crossbreed with rest. Saving the need to buy an even number of seeds for both plants.
Such as below, I had 1 prickly pineapple that supported 3 honey lemons to produce 3 apricot kernels.

First is planting one prickly pineapple, surrounded completely with honey lemons.
So planted like this for patch 1;
1st bed - honey lemon + bag of apricot kernels
2nd bed - prickly pineapple
3rd bed - honey lemon + bag of apricot kernels
4th bed - honey lemon
5th bed - honey lemon + bag of apricot kernels
6th bed - honey lemon (destroyed because someone mistakenly ripped it out)

So far patch 2, prickly pineapple has ripen first, so I've harvested it first.
The apricot ripen a day later. Grade 3 thanalan soil was used for this patch

It could be entirely possible that Almond + Honey Lemon = Apricot Seeds as well.

If the diagonal counts as adjacent, then it should have been possible for the 4 test cases I've made on post#61 (top of this page) to have extra seeds show up. However, the only seeds that appeared were the ones with a different plant touching it on its cardinal directions.

Granted that 4 test cases is rather small, so it can't be entirely ruled out yet.

Also I guess the oblong patch I'm testing now will also help see if diagonal counts, if the corners of 4 and 6 produces any apricot seeds, then it'll be something new.
