I totally agree but wouldn't a new class be something...new? That gets you to play the game during off days?

I think that there are few things people may want to consider on this note.
1) This is the game's second change. In the MMO market how may games get a second chance at life? Because of this people, not just the people playing the game, will be looking more closely at the game. People will be expecting SE to have learned from their mistakes and be much more prepared this time around. It is also seemingly logical that players would likely see things that were unreleased for the first version of the game to make their way into the game sooner than later.
2) Long term. If you are having second thoughts about leveling another class or doing some of the content now, is that going to get worse or better? If the content patches that are coming out every couple of months or so only have a new primal, a new dungeon, a couple of hard modes, is that something that will keep you playing?
I rather have slowly released content that is properly tested and balanced, then rushed content thats poor quality and full of bugs. With that being said, I do hope to see at least 1 new tank/healing class to be introduced.
Lol I actually speak French so I know they aren't different. But this a fantasy game. Dragoons were a military unit... they didn't fight dragons irl nor did they have dragons. So from a fantasy perspective I think a dragoon= had a lance and a dragon knight is more like a Chevalier, the name means horse rider or horseman, by the way, didnt have a wiki link for you since thats how one proves intelligence now a days, I guess. Dragon knight being - has a wyvern. Already a dragoon in this game isn't what a dragoon is in irl so who cares, its the other ishgard dragoons that are more "mounted cavalry" based on actual history.
I'm just saying from FF perspective, and not a real life one, its actually easy to make Dragoon and Dragon Knight two completely different things. With dragon knight actually meaning "hey i fight with dragons", since dragoon does not mean "I KILL DRAGONS irl" and they made it into that in FF, why would we even be talking about logical stuff.
I am aware of what dragoons are irl history, but the dragon head symbol for dragoon in the FFXIV game and the dragoon from previous Final Fantasy games kind of tell the tale of their lore in the Final Fantasy universe, no? In fact, many fantasy-based games have related the Dragoon with dragons. Having a "Dragon Knight" in FFXIV just isn't possible because, well, that is what the Dragoon is. Also, it's not so much that they kill dragons that makes them dragoons, but the fact that their spirit has bonded with that of a dragon which grants them their powers.
And from a FF standpoint: Why does the lancer need to have 2 jobs based on dragons anyway? Why can't lancer have Chocobo Knight for a second tank-based job? http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chocobo_Knight
Back on topic, however, it appears that in an interview with Dengeki, Yoshi P has implied or at the very least hinted that new jobs may not be coming until an expansion. At PAX, he said new jobs and level cap increases would come in major updates, however, in this interview he implies that when new jobs come out, level caps will increase, and level caps will increase with expansions.
Nothing has even been hinted at for a new Job sooner than the Expansion anyway. 2.3 is already spoken for with more Primal and CT stuff, so don't get your hopes up there. Any further Jobs/Classes are going to be at LEAST 2.4 territory, likely beyond.
I seem to recall Yoshida saying that the introduction of new classes will be around the time of the first level cap increase, which itself has been hinted at being around the time when the first expansion is coming out. He did also say that new classes will be introduced through patches rather than expansions, but the first set of new classes added could coincide with said expansion.
I do expect to see 2 or 3 classes being added at first, though, rather than just 1. If that is the case, then an around-the-expansion release would be also likely.
Only thing I want is a cool tanking class that is the only role I don't have a class I want to play with.
I'm still all for thief class/ ninja job. A scout class could be really cool. Gunslinger types would be awesome too.
