this and boss/raid enrages are basically the reasons why we need an official damage meter. everything in savage raids and extreme trials revolve around meeting a dps check and/or skipping a phase (to make the rest of the run easier) and/or beating the hard enrage in time (again back to dps checks).

(some might disagree with me but) now, if they kept all of that but removed the enrages i would be ok if we never got an official one.

And the issue with removing enrages and DPS checks is that healers are too powerful to do that - you could cheese pretty much every fight by stacking healers and just stalling when you run low on MP. DPS would become obsolete. Not a very healthy meta either.

exactly why enrages (they will never go away) will always be part of the high end content, and why we need a parser :P

There exist console games that have built-in mod support. It can be done, therefore I have to assume that the fact SE hasn't bothered to do it (they promised it before ARR launched) and has stopped even mentioning it as something they want to do, that they've decided to go ahead and just break that promise.

Stone Sea Sky should have had a built in parser for all players. At least this would give players an official version and help people improve.

Stone, Sea, Sky is enough of a metric to go by, since clearing it for any given fight tells you your attack damage output should be sufficient in ideal circumstances. You want ideal circumstances? Do mechanics properly. There's really only so much a dummy parse can tell you, and an exhaustive raid parse is only really useful for all the stats besides the tabulated DPS.

"Waffle, your DPS was low." - raid leader. "I died to prey." -me. "Yeah, my bad." - the healer. The end.

No amount of dev-added tools will help you clear content. What you need to do is find people you can trust to do their best without needing to scrutinize them every second.

IMO people are really bad at remembering how much DPS is actually needed to clear content and very easily groups failing to mechanics would just kick a new player even if said player was doing really good for where he is in the game and how hard it would be to judge him against a very geared DPS doing a bad job.

I wouldn't mind having a personal DPS, you can compare yourself with previous performances and you can just as easily talk to others to see how everyone is doing.

IMO FF14, seems to have the best experience for solo players queueing, most of the time people are happy to have someone new to the group to get bonus and to actually be receptive of bad plays and help others when things fail instead of having people bragging about how they are "carrying" the group or how someone needs to get kicked.

If you really think that would never happen then you didn't play enough other MMOs to see how toxic it gets.

Ahh the talk of parser's never gets old. Its simple end game content you need certain dps from your members and using a parser is the only way to get it. I hope consoles gets a parser soon, at least a personal dps parser. This game has a fairly strict harassment policy that gets enforced pretty well; better than any other mmo that i have played. Even if they came out and flat out said parser's are allowed you can't flame or harass someone because of their numbers. If you want to know your numbers ask in a dungeon or a duty. I have on many occasions told people what their numbers are if they asked. I have tried in the past to help people out with their rotation, not saying their numbers are low, but saying if you used skills in this order it would be better. Most of the time i get cussed out and told they will play however they want to play and on the rare occasion i get a thanks, so i have just stopped trying to help all together.
