Do you respect or awed by level 50? No?

What about those who's sense of enjoyment of this game involves making other people become in awe of them?

People still want this in a casual game where mostly everything is obtainable with little/no effort.

So why not find out who these people are and give them some magnificent aura or free gear so we can worship them or.... avoid them.... I'd love a filter that people with this aura can be automatically removed from queues that I'm in! :p

You want to be unique? Go do endgame gear at the exact item level requirement, better yet make your whole team like that.

I don't understand why people want max level to mean something. All it really means is you've got more time to play. Something like what I hear about Maat to where
you can't get any further with your job unless you know your job would be cool. But that's about it. No shiny auras, no retarded grinding.

Not that I can walk around town dragging a dozen lalafell in chains and wear the finest Miqo'te pelts.

i remember in my old eq days, when i was a lowbie....i was in awe after seeing a high lvl mage (enchanter) followed by an awesome pet :3 , decided to try that class and omg was fun as hell.....after being max lvled, rerolled magician (my main after that :3 ) and have been playing pet classes since then .....

ffxi, i wanted to play summoner.....tarutaru of course! :D ppl tried to punt me .....until i summoned my friend and told them try to punt me now <mhaura><hahahaha>

nowadays nah , maybe because u arent a kid/young anymore and watching ppl at max lvl with endgear is meh ...ok looks cool but thats it...

Those were the days... I still remember black belt means something as a Mnk. Was the only Mnk in my HNMLS to have it, got it before I joined them.

This has got to be trolling. This whole thread reads like a bad parody. People aren't really THAT open about their insecurity and need for entitlement. Are they?

"Awe" was probably a poor word choice by the OP.

I've never been overcome with a sense of "awe" in real life, why would I in a video game? About the closest I ever came to be "awed" in real life, was when I had lunch with Muhammad Ali... but it wasn't awe, it was just a sense of deep respect for his accomplishments. I was an amateur boxer/kickboxer at the time, I knew how much work it took to prepare for a fight. To be able to have a conversation with the absolute best at that profession was very cool. You better believe I listened closely to everything he told me.


Now, looking at it in that regard, I kind of agree with the OP.

When you enter a MMO world and see someone who is max level with all max gear, you should somewhat have a feeling of respect for the time/dedication that they put into achieving those results. It doesn't mean you should bend over backwards and offer to make them a sandwich... but, if you're in a duty roulette roll and someone who is level 50 with max gear offers you a suggestion on something you can do to improve your gameplay, you should probably listen to it.

Will everyone? Of course not. But, hitting "max everything" shouldn't be something that any goober who spends 100-150 hours should be able to achieve. There should be some skill barrier.

I look at it this way. I have a buddy who has spent 12 years studying nutrition/fitness and is employed full time as a personal trainer and nutritionalist. When he offers me free pointers on exercises that I can add to my training regimine, or gives me diet tips... I listen to him. Not because I am in "awe" of him, but, because I know he spent a ton of time learning all he can possibly know about optimal nutrition/fitness. People pay him hundreds/thousands of dollars for the advice that he gives me for free.

I can look up nutrition/fitness information and I can do farily well using that advice. I can't spend 8-10 hours a day focusing on it though. He can, because it's his career. Even if I don't listen to EVERYTHING he says, if I'm thinking of adding something new... or, if I read an article with information that I had not heard previously, I'll run it by him to make sure it's legit. Why? Because he has the knowledge base.


It should somewhat work the same way in MMORPG's. Not everyone should be able to hit lvl 50 in every class and max out all classes in the best gear. There should be some high level content that only the truly dedicated should be able to achieve.

Don't get me wrong, everyone should be able to complete the main story. Everyone should have access to that optional challenging contect (having access and doing are two completely different things). That content should only be achieveable by those who put in the time/dedication to defeat it though.

Some of it can be grindy time sink (I guess they kind of have this with Chocobo level'ing), some of it can be extremely difficult raid content (Coil? Is it really that hard? I don't know, I only started playing about 45 days ago and I'm already up to HM primals and have breezed through CT multiple times)... but, these avenues should exist in a successful MMORPG.


I think that OP was trolling, but, I kind of see where they are coming from. When I see someone who has an Allaghan weapon in FF14, it doesn't tell me that person is highly skilled. Especailly when there are a bunch of FC's offering Coil runs for gil.


And I know, I know, we're only on version 2.1, there is plenty of time for SE to eventually add this content. I hope that they put it in at some point though. I'd like to attempt it.
