For people saying it hasn't been that bad, must be have bedtimes at 9pm. The rest of us night owls this affects us. Just look at the amount of maintenance for the last month..

What's going on? They said in this one tonight its for overcrowded issues. I haven't seen that problem since EA...

I believe over the last 30 days the average is every three days. God forbid they allow customers to play a game they pay for. Such a travesty, right?

Even if it were 4 hours every 3 days (which it is not), it would be down 5% of the time (which is a very high downtime percentage), however, the more bugs removed, the fewer and farther between we will see these maintenances become, until eventually there is a once a week routine. Every single scheduled maintenance that has taken place on US servers has been outside of peak hours. So if having the game up 95% of the time (99% uptime during peak hours) is unacceptable to you, then please, feel free to cancel your sub. But the last thing people want to read on these forums are more inconsequential ultimatums.

It is a game. It is not life support.

This, or stop making maintence altogether. But this leave the game broken forever.

You post completely misses the point of the issue. No one is saying that maintenance should not be done, or that a subset of the player base won't be hit by it. That is not the issue.

The issue is maintenance every 2-3 days which is preventing a subset of the player base from getting their full value out of the product they pay for.

You are correct in that there really are only two options. Suck it up, or stop paying.

I'll assume most of them will just stop paying, which is ultimately not a good thing for this game. But maybe it is, and SE will have a very simple window for maintenance that effects none of their paying customers at that point.

The cool thing is you don't have to read any inconsequential ultimatums on these forums. That's your choice to continue to.

If you're only answer every time someone has an issue with this game is to quit, you'll be waiting for FFXIV 3.0 after this one becomes a ghost town again.

How DARE they fix things in a timely manner! They should do like other games and wait till the subscribers leave in droves out of pure frustration by dealing with all the broken coding! This is such a slap in the face and I demand my money back!

The only thing I don't particularly like about the maintenance recently is that it hasn't really had a predictable time frame to it. Monday night may be the night they like to do maintenance, but usually it doesn't start til 11 PST (PDT?). It's just annoying in terms of trying to schedule things when ultimately you really can't be sure when maintenance is going to happen, both in terms of which day and more importantly what time.

Hopefully we'll all be wow'd with the fixes implemented. (lol).

If only they fixed things and didn't "This will be addressed in 2.1 (or later)" instead. Someone needs to get a running tally on how many times that line has been used.

Notice: A lot of those are also for website maintenance (something everyone does), services not even owned by SE and lasting for a short period of time that doesn't even hurt your playtime unless you play an MMO only for 1-3 hours a night, which I guess is fine for whoever has that time frame but, MMOs are supposed to be able to keep people playing for much longer than that so 2-3 hours or so occasionally won't hurt anything.

What do you propose as a solution?

Its fine to complain about "too many maint's" but what should be done then? how would you prioritize repairs to the game that are breaking it for many other players, IE Behemoth/Odin FATE issues that cause the game to crash, People who get 90k'ed out of instances several times in one instance, Binding coil that glitches and hangs with monsters easily defeated?

Just lock up parts of the game until 2.1 and do a major patch then? Allow people to continue to play russian roulette with connectivity? let players glitch their way through the end game content?

This is just like the AOE issue people are STILL having issues with (not me but I know it exists and feel for them). I'm glad you are not having any issues and just want to play but a few hour downtime here and there is better in the long run for everyone to have stable and consistent gaming experience. Its one thing for internal testing but another thing when you add in as many variables in equipment, connections, and locations as there are people playing the game.

The internet, its all about "me".
