I'd have preferred it for two reasons.

It's consistent, I understand there has to be some gameplay and story segregation but I'd prefer as little as possible. RDM and SAM start at 50 purely for gameplay reasons.

And two, I wanted to see the class/job system expanded rather than scrapped. I could get really into it, but it's not the thread for it ;) .

I don't like naked female glam. Or even naked front, like Lyse (for me she should close her dress). Showing underpants is a no-no to me and armorkini is disgusting. The same goes to naked or half-naked male characters.

Once, I gone to YouTube to see some WHM solo clear (as I love to solo content). But when I saw that the character (a fem miqo'te) was using only bikini, I felt bad for her (and disgusted from that youtuber). The primal he was soloing? Shiva EX. I couldn't watch even 10 seconds.

I've actually been every race in the game multiple times at this point, but when the Au Ra race launched, I went straight for a plum skintone on Xeala. Later I swapped to deep green. Further later I tried out a lavender skinned Raen.

So yes. I really love the face linked to the crab claw looking horns, too.

Atleast for myself its because prior to changing to a Xaela I had made my character based on one from another series (easy points to those who know said series). I've actually been debating a name change because the character literally acts nothing like them in my head, though it would be slightly based on a different series so probably wouldn't fantasia to a different skin tone. Not an expy atleast though.

As for more opinions!: I don't think that just because someone uses a name from a different series has a bad imagination, they just felt like it/it was on their brain at the time. That said people who complain that the name they want from another series is taken, more so ones that are popular characters, are kinda idiots.

This is also an issue with Duskwights, Moonkeepers, and all Roes, but it's so much more pointed on Au Ra as they have so few human-like skin tones, but despite being scaled, horned, lizard-y monster girls, they need to being as human-like as possible.

Edit to add: This curiously is less common on MALE Au Ra, but not by much. I can't even count how many blue Xeala players I've met...

I feel you. So many people choose the fairest skin tones. I love being a dark Duskwight. I look very unique comparatively. Even when I was an Au Ra for like a week I decided to go with a darker skin tone. Those gosh dark european beauty standards. :/

Why is this a problem, per se? I can only speak for myself but I simply dislike the "veritable rainbow" skin aesthetic for my characters. I have no qualms with what other people do but I'm going to design my character based on my preferences.

Some more opinions that may cause some players an aneurysm (trigger warning!)

The concept of the cross-class system was much more interesting than role abilities (saying nothing of execution). Also, role abilities have pretty much failed at what they were supposed to be, since they’re literally the exact same as the cross class system but without the need to spend a short amount of time on another job.

They should really separate classes/jobs that shouldn’t have been paired in the first place because of the differences in identity, purpose and general aesthetic (Ranger/Bard, Summoner/Scholar).

The ‘eastern Samurai aesthetic’ that they keep using to design gear for all jobs (particularly tomestone gear) is so boring and uninspired.

The game desperately needs the addition of secondary mechanics to dps such as healing requirements, debuff abilities, actual GCD support abilities, along with actual mechanics for them to make using them fun and exciting. Also, fights (especially raid fights like savage) should be designed to require most strategy than ‘listen to someone on a third-party voice communication program call out what’s coming next’. I’m not saying the entirety of every fight should be totally randomised, but there should be more to them than a ‘conveyer belt’ of predictable mechanics that either one-shot you or don’t do enough damage to be worth dealing with.
Like, if your party made good use of certain buff and debuff abilities, you could survive X attack. But another party could instead focus on passing it through sheer healing power. Party 3 could have better gear than party 1&2, so they aren’t as at risk and can simply use mitigation to pass the mechanics (e.g Succor, Divine Veil, w/e)

Opinion, no worries. I mean, the toon you play is the one YOU have to stare at for countless hours, not me, and I'm the type who get's bored fast and changes often. I'm coming from the position of a player that wants to try everything and get's annoyed the moment I resemble another player's toon.

I think if I could even call it a "problem," it comes more to the fact that Auri toons have fewer human-like skin tone options, coupled with how popular two faces are, you end up with more "twins" in the world.

So it's both being disappointed other players ignore my favorite quality of the race, and my personal pet peeve of being "samey." (My current highlander self was to mess with my lalafellin bond partner. Big Wife.)
