Hi there!
I'm one of the guys that were crazy enough to buy the shirts, so I thought I would share some information with you. Please excuse my poor English, as I live in France :)
The shirts are real. They were given at E3 to the few visitors who proved good enough to defeat Ifrit at the Square Enix booth. That's were they came from in the first place.
Aside from that, there is nothing really exciting to say I'm afraid. It's a polo shirt made by Jerzees. It's a much better quality than any fan-made one obviously, miles away from anything I could have done myself with an iron and some printed art from the Internet. The M size fits to me nicely (I'm about 1.83m/6ft and 70kg/154 pounds).
Honestly, it doesn't seem that costly to make for Square Enix. I still don't understand why they're not selling it to fans as an official product in their own store. No one should have to pay that price for such a simple and nice shirt. Adding taxes and shipping it cost me around $137/120€... Well, I don't regret, I could afford it anyway.

Actually it started at Gamescon in germany. We have been wanting to have the opportunity to buy them since Gamescon and we're still willing to buy them. I don't know why either. I do know due to the copy right laws here in america i won't even try to have one made. Reason being I would want to make a lot of them and I would get told no because they would be making a profit off those shirts instead of nothing. *shrugs* had something like that happen with an ls mate with our ls we use a chocobo in our shielding for it and they got told no that due to the chocobo being copyrighted they couldn't make a mass production of said shirt. Still se needs to take our damn money

I want to assume you have more than a few thousand people wanting that polo, so why won't you just place it on the Square Enix Merchandise Store?

It's actually getting a bit frustrating at this point. Such clear demand and they keep insisting on making this a rare promotional item. Seems like to me good promotion would be everyone who wants one wearing one around. *shrug*

You know, it's been *EIGHT MONTHS* since the End of an Era event. The more time passes, the less relevant the "meteor survivor" label becomes. Pretty soon there are gonna be people playing this game going "Dalamud? buuuuhhhhh?? What's that?"

Square-Enix merchandising division: Let us pay you to promote your game and your company for free, while the reference is still relevant. And while we're still eager consumers instead of resentful.

We'd rather have them purchasable in the store. I doubt I'll ever be able to be at any of the events the shirts will be at so I'll never be able to get one of these shirts. I. WANT. TO. BUY. THE. SHIRT!!!!

Problem with events only is not everyone can make these events. SE will lose alot of potential £$£$£$£$£$ if they only offer it to events.
Plop them on the store!
