Lands almost exactly on soot black (difference of 1 on all three, the most perfect I've seen so far), so definitely in the range for you to get it. Toying more may land you elsewhere right now. Tell us the result.

That probably lands you right back to shadow blue.

From shadow blue, try:

pineapple 1
apple 4
pear 5
berry 4

Since you already fed one of each, just 3 apples, 4pears and 3 berries before the 6 hour period is over. If not and still shadow blue, then feed the same. Tell us your results.

5 plums will get you there, 6 if your RGB is too high on values, but the great thing is if you keep adding plums you will land there no matter what, white is super easy that way. 5 or 6 will land the same result, no need to worry with plums sinc eit would take around 15 to start going the other way with colors. So go ahead and feed 6 to be sure if you got them.

Finally Soot Black. 1 Berry from marsh green did the trick!

Marsh Green (44 48 28)
Soot Black (37 35 30)

I guess using the +/-5 rule it got my numbers down to (39 43 33).

Alright, feeding 3 apples, 4 pears and 3 berries now. Just to be clear, when you say feed the same, you mean 1/4/5/4 right? I've been flip flopping around and looping for over a week so I want to be damn sure at this point.

I wanted to actually go snow white, and I'm at Lotus Pink...I did what was said from cream yellow and got that instead..I figured if I could get to bark brown I could go to soot black. But if someone knows how to get the snow white, or soot black from there I'd appreciate it.

Yes, I took into account the values of the ones you already fed for the results posted so you just need to add the 3 apples, 4 pears and 3 berries now before end of 6 hour cycle. By feed the same, I mean that if the six hours passed from your last feed (wasn't sure when you'd see this) and you're still at shadow blue, feed the 3 apples, 4 pears and 3 berries to reach the full 1/4/5/4 total.

Keep in mind that since there is no RGB value implemented for each variance, colors fall within a range of the exact value, and since fruits work within +/- 5, you may land in one color within +/- 10 on one, +10 on the other and -5 on the third. So when we adjust, it's based on +/- 5 and if one of yours was +/- 10 it may fall short but would land in next step, so report back either way to congratulate or adjust once more. Good luck.

5 to 6 plums will land you on Snow White for sure, go with 6 to be sure if you got them, can't miss with plums from pink to white, it's the only option and that's why white is the easy color.

I decided to return to Shadow Blue after the last Charcoal grey.. You see how fast I went back to it.
I figure that might also help other people to achieve some other colors as I didn't saw any charts with charcoal grey, Mole brown or woad blue yet :) .

Went from Ochu green > Deepwood Green > Ink Blue > Kobold Brown > Deepwood green.

pineapple x2 should do it for most people sadly for me it just take me to ink blue or chestnut brown :(

You got it right, the first number is the amount of feathers proc, the one in parenthesis is how much I gave in total.

i use this and i got Ink blue :( omg what should i do now?

The Ink Blue/Deepwood Green/Kobold Brown is a known loop.
You just need to feed him one 'lighten' fruit according to the color you have and pray for the black.
If black doesn't show up, just continue the feeding, you'll eventually break the loop by chance.

So my husband is trying to get Chocolate brown but every way we tried nothing close. Is there anyone who knows a path to chocolate brown he could use?

Valfruit alone won't do it, but 2 valfruit and 2 pineapples will land you almost perfectly:

Current 51 47 39
To Target -4 0 0

So earlier I had Gloom Purple and fed it 10x Pear, 9x Apple, and 6x Berries.
It turned out to be Grape Purple instead of Soot Black.
Anyone have suggestions on what to do next to get Soot Black?

Should be two pineapples from deepwood to soot black.

Correction: Add two valfruits as well. It should be two pineapples and two valfruits for the closest match.

It was Raptor Blue then i gave it 6 pineapples.... got this Lavender Purple. Before it was Raptor Blue it was Lavender Blue.

You are correct, my mistake, copied it wrong for the other guy. Editing his post now. Though 2 pineapples land you on the range, 2 pineapples and 2 valfruits make it the closest possible.

So i finally achieved soot black

I had been going back and forth from Ink Blue, and Deepwood green for almost a week.

After getting fed up giving him the single fruit corrections i tried somthing a little different.
I landed on deepwood green 2 feeds ago, I have him one valruit and one Apple

I figured the Valfruit bounced him back to the obvious Ink Blue, and the Apple pushed the red values enough for Kobold brown, Much to my delight I was correct and he became Kobold Brown.

From here i fed a single Doman Plum and there he was, my beautiful black beauty :3

About 18 feeds later I'm finally finished with this part of my FFXIV Career... /whew... now my girlfriend can stop making fun of my chocoholic obsession (ironically now she's interested in getting her desired color.)

Wow, I just posted the simulator link on a whim, as I wasn't sure how accurate it was in the long run. Was trying to help an FCmate this morning and saw like 70 people viewing it. I did a few edits, added an in-spreadsheet note about needing to make a copy, and how to do so. I also found an actual formula for determining the "closeness" of colours, so it might guess the colour name more accurately now (assuming the +/- 5 rule holds, at least).

Anyways, with the free week coming to and end, I wish you guys all the best of luck in your chocobo colourings, probably won't be around to update the sheet anymore, so anyone is welcome to do so.
