Consolidated White Mage 4.0 Feedback Thread

Dear SE,

Please, for the love of God, strongly consider fixing WHM. Think long and hard about if you truly think it is an equal choice to SCH and AST. No one seems to think it is, according to the media information released today. Heck, even the players who got to try it out in San Francisco are saying it is the worst out of ALL the jobs, not just the healers. I beg you, please, fix WHM before early access.

3.0's problem is that it didn't challenge the healer at all. All the attention was given to give DPS a harder time. Gordias Savage epitomizes this, as not only were the DPS checks too high, but the enemies' damage output was so poor players could get away with being STR tanks and DPS healers the whole fights. Everything was tuned to so that it was possible for the weakest healer, the AST can make it, and that the worst possible tank build, the STR tanks, could survive. Since it was impossible for anyone to have a full set of Gordian gear on Savage's first week, what better way to work around the overly high DPS checks than with people who were NOT part of the intended design, the Healers.

From then on, DPS healing and STR tanking were popularized. 3.1 killed STR tanks, but the healing scene remained unchanged.

In addition to all of this AST keeps getting buffed and buffed to the point it's just as good as everyone else, and guess what the problem is when you have jobs being too similar. The one that provides better boons gets picked the most, namely anything that increases the parties overall DPS. Paladins have some awesome defenses but none of that matters, make sure you got a warrior to fel cleave while being the main tank. White Mage being the strongest healer and damager doesn't matter, because both SCH and AST can increase party DPS and they got stronger barriers which can completely negate certain effects allowing some members who desperately need to move less, move less. Monk being the strongest DPS doesn't matter, cause healing is too easy, literally every other DPS can buff each other and/or benefit from it, and they don't suffer from the excessive downtime in these RED LIGHT; GREEN LIGHT raids as monk does.

3.0 also saw a huge increase of avoidable damage. So much so that it's excessive. So much time where the enemy is doing no damage, taking forever to use an attack that'll miss. Where's the unavoidable damage?

If 4.0 makes mind give 1 attack power AND neglects to challenge the healers like last time, then it's only going to play out just like it did before. People, typically raiders, forcing other healers to DPS as if they are required to do so when they are not and making things up based on a misconception created solely to make themselves feel better and special, as they throw standards completely out the window to applaud any who'll do it even if they sucked so bad they might as well not been there (the PLD could do a better job kind of bad).

Aye. As a WHM from the beginning of ARR till now these changes basically strip out all of the love WHM had and makes it available to other healers. Looks like I'm not healing anymore.

Please, SE, reconsider buffing WHM so that it is an equal choice with SCH and AST.

I just wish half the new stuff didn't revolve around casting basic cure spells. They seem to be under the impression that all WHMs spam cure all the time which sure, if you're bad, but a good whm's rotation will use as few as possible and it's usually Cure 2 that's used.

Even if they just added Stone IV as a spell that could gain lillies it would go a long way to making it a bit better.

The Confession/Plenary mechanic will suffer from exactly the same problem btw.

I too am here to say I have mained WHM since 2.0 and feel like they've left the job without any utility going forward. I don't think I'll be levelling it for the expansion looking at the current stuff.

I just don't understand how they looked at the feedback of "WHM is in a bad place, the healing is good but they have subpar utility compared to both other healers" and came up with "Ah, well what they want is to spam Cure more"

It looks like WHM will potentially be the best DPS healer in the game now with the changes, Benediction down to 3 mins is much needed and that 0 mp ability with presence of mind and Holy will make WHM an AoE monster.

Whats going to happen in raids is kind of hard to judge at this point.

I never seen any raider want to use stoneskin over literally anything else in a raid beyond the first buffer. You know. . . cause that gets in the way of attacking, it costs a lot, slow casting, "10% extra HP is not worth it", it's not adloquium, ect. So what is the OP going on about with losing Stoneskin?

A new A2s would be a WHMs place to shine.

It's really not. WHM still has no utility. AST heals are stronger than WHM heals by an even wider margin. etc.
