Namingway Card items?

Didnt devs say Name Changes were being developed like 8 months ago... I mean whats up XIV?

Could we please get an updated official response on this, either a yes or no?

I've been holding out for name changes for a long while but with personal housing coming soon, I'd like to have my name changed before then if there's still no word on a convenient name change service. I'd already have to repurchase my personal FC room by doing the server transfer trick, so I'd like to get that over with before personal housing comes out so I can swap back to Balmung in order to secure the plot of land I've been saving up for.

Usually with patch notes, we don't know what's coming and when the release date is until the day or two before its release. The transfer trick takes three days, and I'd really like to know if we can expect it around 2.4 or alongside the release of personal housing in 2.38.

I don't mind waiting, I just want to know if I'm actually waiting for something.

I think I'm a pretty prime example of why Name Changes should be added to fantasia.

I'm also the FC Master, and Static Leader. So I can't just server transfer and then transfer back. That's a week of missed raids. As well as hassle of making someone else temporarily FC Master.

Even if it was an optional service not tied to fantasia, I'd be willing to pay 10$ to change my name, My wife recently started playing, as a perk of marriages soon to come later this year (hopefiully) I would like to be a male character to marry her character.

I just want to add my two cents to the pile, as well. I was at work when hubby made my character for me, cause Behemoth was locked out the night before. The 'h' in my name is in the wrong place and I'd like to have a better last name, seeing as I chose it on the fly because I needed a surname (and it's a Skyrim Dunmer house name, the first thing that popped into my head). I'm willing to throw money at SE for paid name changes. As others have said, we can change everything else with a simple Fantasia potion, just not our names. I really hope the devs are still listening to us about this.

09-18-2013 08:24 PM was the time and date this forum was posted. You think over a year later SOMETHING would be done with such a large demand from the community. In almost every MMO a name change is STANDARD. I just began playing this game and I am very turned off by the idea that I can never name change for lore reasons or if my character dies(Role Play). This is an important part of character customization for most RPers. Not to mention, sometimes people do not know exactly what name they want at 7am when you need to RUSH to get onto Balmung. I seriously suggest this comes into play soon-- aka the next patch. It can't be that hard to do. We are paying monthly subs, are we not? Please use some of that to pay SOMEONE to create it. You have pages of "feedback" about this topic. If I were you, I'd take the hint from your paying customers. ♥

I'm going to have to agree with everyone else here, I would very much like a name change as well. I was finally able to get into Behemoth and was trying to quickly think of a name. I liked it at first, and it was fine when I was an Elezen, though I still wanted to change my name when I got back into the game, but now it just doesn't fit at all. I can live with it, but I'd rather not. You know? Holding out a bit of hope for this still...

They really need to release a name change service. Be it free or not I don't care. We need to get a name change service.

I would like a name change service as well. Why can you change your appearance and not your name?! Please SE!

What's taking so long for this...

Either:

a.) System limitations.
B.) Desire for users to keep their reputation/name intact.
C.) Some twisted plot where they intend for users to pay for 2x server transfers to get a rename.

I think they mentioned somewhere that they were looking into that but that info was some months ago. I would like to know what happened. They really need to implement a name change solution. A lof of people have regreted their name choice and they have no option to change it. Ofc creating a new character is not a solution. Except if you are low lvl and you have nothing to lose. SE please let us know what happens with this matter.

I'm really surprised that so long after fantasias were introduced and after old 1.xx characters were able to change their names on first re-log in, there STILL isn't a name change system in place for the general public. Even if it was very restricted (like only one change allowed per 3 month time period), it'd still be something for those who changed the gender/race/personality of their character.

I was reading through the Fantasia details again and it says that you can't change your day of birth, patron deity, starting class or name. While I wasn't able to change my starting class or name, I was able to change my day of birth and patron deity when I used mine recently. (about a week ago) Not sure if that was a bit of a glitch or if it means they are currently making changes to the way Fantasia works? And if so, maybe the name change will happen? All speculation though....

The name change is a must have. To be honest we kinda cannot change our gender now because of the names..

Yeah, the whole being able to change your gender but not your name thing is just silly. Any update on this would be awesome!

it isnt a glitch, the only things you can't change with Fantasia are your starting class and name. it has always been that way

I totally agree with you there, at the very least bit they should let you change your Forname(first name) even if they don't want you to change your Sirname

i'm really looking forward to a name change thing being added. been thinking for a while that i wanted to make some small adjustments to mine to make it better. (my name is sort of lore friendly, but i wanted to make it more so.)

Hm. Interesting. I guess I never noticed it before when I used my other ones. But still, the actual details when you buy it says you can't. Anyway. I have attempted to talk to support about this, hoping to get an updated answer, though I have definitely heard that said support is not the best. We will see how it goes once I get my response :|

Has any dev looked over this? There are so many people who would like a name change, because if you can change gender with phantasia.... a name change would greatly benefit the masses! Plus it's more easy money for SE....

I find it kinda silly how we can't get a response from a dev/rep about a game changing issue, where the topic about "male body hair" - a cosmetic aesthetic - that really only applies to male characters (who are interested) has gotten a reply, whereas the name changing issue, which could be applied to essentially every player in the game (since we all get a free phial of phantasia after 1 month sub anyway) hasn't seen an official word. It's cool if we can ask a GM or something and get a personal response, but to get something in this thread by an admin would at least give some sort of official insight on the status of this subject.

For those who are worried about players on your friendlist/black list changing names: in the help section of the menu, you will find an answer to your question - If a player on your friend list/black list changes his/her name, then he/she will have the name changed on the list, and will stay on your list. Thus, you have NO WORRIES of blacklisted individuals taking advantage of this name change system, nor RMTs.

I am sure we'll get a response eventually since this is probably something many people throughout different countries want anyways. They gave us Fantasia potions.

I wonder how difficult it'll be to do the same with Namingway cards? They already have a system that checks if the server you're on has the same name as what you want. Also, they have a system in that checks to see if retainers have the same name. Eitherway, the way they programmed and codded thier game makes these things difficult to implement for them.

There was a reply from a Dev, but it was maybe a year ago? This thread itself is about a year old too. It seems to occasionally get a boost of comments. An updated reply would be greatly appreciated. All I got in response was that they will pass this information on the development team. Which is what I expected, but hopefully they will actually do so.

I know a dev replied in a one one on one situation when a player contacted them about it, and said player posted the reply on this forum, but I don't think there was an actual post from a dev him/herself in this forum....

It would just be really friggin nice and logical to get some sort of response, since they do address name changes in the help menu when you access it from the game - yet there is currently no option to actually change your name...

You are correct. What I saw was a community rep posting about an "answer" in another equally old thread. And then there was the post from the player who had the one on one conversation. My bad there.

But yeah, seriously. Just make a name change system, guys.

I see people have been requesting name changes for a year now :/ please make this happen guys, server transfers shouldn't have to be the answer (albeit extreme answer).

Maybe the Roe is your adopted daughter who joined your family just as you tragically left it so she was named after you :( Or something XD

Seriously though, this should have been in place aaages ago <_<

I also went with a more lore-friendly last name. I had started out as an Elezen and now my Highlander looks silly running around with my Elezen last name...

Though a Roe with a Lala name would be even sillier...

Yup, I just made this mistake...

I made a complete "lore" named male character (as I'm an alt crazy person lol) and after playing it a while, I realized how much that would suck to fantasia to something else later.
My lala use to be a Miqo; her name is a half-lore name.
My main, use to be a hyur, at least her name sounds normal enough that wrong race doesnt really matter.

Come on SE, fantasia is fantastic but if it doesn't include a name change (if desired) you need to make a service that does.

I made my character before knowing a single thing about the lore. Now that I do, I want my character's name to be something more Lalafell than it is now.

Name changes would be awesome.
