Body Hair for males.

Let's not try and derail this thread please, kept it going for a year now, and finally got some kind of response. Thanks to all again for the support so far.

If you even attempted to try and start reading it, you would have seen at the very top of the OP that I eloquently stated about female body hair. If you're going to come into a thread, please actually try and put some effort into actually understanding and reading about it. What was even the point in posting in it, if all you read was the title?

My original (rather quick) thought was "Oh, they've probably just compressed the diffuse/bump/spec maps on the textures so low that we can't see it", then I swapped from Male Miqo'te to Male Highlander and felt rather stupid when I seen two protruding nipples, albeit slightly blurry.

So it was intentionally left out, not sure why.



It makes Male Miqo'te's and Male Roegadyn's look rather odd after I noticed it originally.

Well, apparently nipples/body-hair are seen as inappropriate.

Not like there's any solid rule "NO NIPPLES OR HAIR". It's just common place now.

What's most likely happened here, is for the original high poly model for the cats/roegadyns they've simply left it out, where-as whoever did the hyur body models added them in.


EDIT! Seems I was wrong, so I checked up on it.

After playing with the Male Miqote character creator, you can quite clearly see that they do actually have nipples but the bump-map has such a low depth definition as well as a low resolution texture that you simply can't see it.

I wanted to post a new thread about the same topic, more facial hair options and adding chest hair. But I did my research and found this. Let's hope they're working on it.

I can't believe this thread is a thing, and that the main focus has turned into whether or not people have nipples of all things. Seriously....

Well the Au-Ra are getting scales on their skin. Why can't they add body hair to the other races?

Well it's funny but I would rally like to see nipples for males and body hair options. Also real eybrows for male Highlander would be nice. We look like shaved aliens as we are now. Better muscle defined bodies for all males would be awesome. Character customisation needs better options and better quality.

Yeah... everytime I see some half naked male. Made me think of featherless chicken from supermarket.

Well luckily the community rep did respond and will notify the devs (about the body/facial hair) So at the very least the devs are aware of our request.

On topic, I would like at least more eyebrow shape/styles in the aestheticial. The onewe have now is just too thick and certain colors really makes it obvious it's painted on, so I' m limited to the lest flashy hair colors

More moustache options, more chest hair, maybe some leg hair... yes, give my Aegis some leg hair already. I don't care if all of Ishgards elezens are smooth as a baby's bottom - if Aegis doesn't have the time to shave his legs in between saving Eorzea, then he simply doesn't!

it's hysterical that the chest hair looks 100x better than the hair on the head...it looks like a dried up old mop.

I'm *fairly* certain that that chest hair is caused by a mod. Not positive though. If it is though that explains why it looks better than the head hair.

Yesterday some people have ridiculed me because my character seems ephebic adolescent :-( I agree with the request to add the hair

Body Hair for highlander and roegadyn suits well, same with other race (but lalafell will become like dwarf imo lol)

And about the nipple, yeah highlander already have "pointy" look but it's more better if it become more decent look, like different color or something.
But something worried me is if someone request for other hair like... armpit... will female miqote or male lalafell enjoy this? since their idle stance is standing with hands goes up and showing their armpit lol.

I don't understand....there are no nipples on male models but there are nipples on the male monk pvp gear!

As a hairy male I do support this let our manly characters be more manly. What I do think is strange is the folk of ishguard, its freezing cold and snow and all of those that have beards are all manicured and thin. For a race to survive in that kind of environment I would have thought more bushy beards and hairy bodies would help keep them warm in their metal armour. In actual fact hair is grown by the body to help trap warmth by trapping a layer of air close to the skin. In buildings air gaps are used as part of insulation as it gives a small resistance to the passage of heat accross it.

Now we should not disciminate women who wish to grow som body hair though I think the line would be drawn at a pubic thatch escaping from a sublinger as that would be line crossing. Although we brits often joke about women in france and Germany having a higher percentage of those letting things grow naturally, to them it is normal.

Yes, we should have fur options for Miqo'te (both genders) and human body hair options for male Roegadyn and Highlanders. (And the fur of Miqo'tes should not look like the more human body hair of the others, but be a more complete body texture.)

It might have actually been an unintended side effect of the low-rez textures, but the Mithra in FFXI kinda looked as if they had a really fine coat of velvety fur. And it was cute as hell.

Well, I suppose when I'm roleplaying, Y'kayah should also refuse to believe it, but overall, "convincing research by top academics from around the realm and beyond" sounds like the more reliable of the two viewpoints expressed there. So our Miqo'te characters are indeed part cat, and fur seems perfectly appropriate.
