Like Winry_Rockbell said, an Illusionist and Rogue type would be nice to see as a class ingame.
Only, I think that assassin will fulfill both roles, since there was a schedule with possible classes which mentioned that assassins will be using Dark Arts. I can only think about moves like invisible, shadowstep, basically skills that make your moves almost unnoticable. Also dark arts sounds like something that will use genjutsu (illusions--> mirages of oneself and etc., but not being trapped in illusions that would turn in something naruto-ish).
Edit: just noticed Winry said illusionist or Rogue type... -.-
Serious classes: Musketeer/crossbowman, however no magically reload please, make it a skil that takes a time, but make the shoots powerfull. pistol/sword chracter, pirate like.
on the other hand:
Lawyer, with powers Cease and desist attacks, a commoner class, that does nothing except havving extra emote called "those stupide adventurers are everywhere" , Ecologist, that would have ability to force PVP on anyone that is cutting trees, or fishing,
Semi serious - Taxi driver, will be able to carry other people between towns for gil.
So seeing this makes me happy.

I hope they really do put gunblades in this game!!
Bard
Because I like it when people can't function without them.
i hope musketeer doesn't use gunblades, but something that has a more badass name....magitek soldier or something, i don't know....something with magitek.
It seems like people only read what they want to. Its funny Yoshi has said many times the foundation of the game is getting an overhaul before any content and Classes are added. So like he said after the battle/ fighting gets changed then their going to implement the content part. Ya i know their adding a little bit of content every month but it seems that the next big change will be the battle system.
Sorry but adding classes is also another way of getting people back into the game and the state the game is in don't exspect any new classes anytime soon.
or maybe some people like to get together and spit ball fun ideas like this instead of going around trolling the forums. just maybe though.
Bard. :D
for 10 characters-.-
WE NEED THESE ONES:

It shouldn't be too hard, since it was yoshi-p who did the character designs ;P
Here's the names:

I love the party host and shaman XD
Mystic Knight! Make it wield a Great Sword and have elemental damaging moves :D
Assassin would be an awesome class to have in XIV imo.
Oh my, you just had to make this thread xD
I've talked about this so much with my linkshell.
They should have just used the same classes from FFXI or other traditional Final Fantasy games from the start. Start us off with the original 6 classes from FF1, and unlock new classes (in new ways of course, quests and such have to be different from FFXI) along the way (preferrably in a more difficult way too).
And before anyone argues about it becoming the same game as FFXI, first think about FF3, and FF5 (both successful). Just because you use the same jobs does not make it the same game. Final Fantasy is Final Fantasy, and the job system is one of the main roots of the entire foundation of the series. As long as they still put in good story/quest content, it'll work I think. And it doesn't even have to use ALL the same jobs, there are plenty of other jobs from old FF games that were never used.
Sure, the magic spells and certain abilities we have are Final Fantasy-esque, but the way they are mixed around each job, and these new wacky job names we have are not.
Anyway, that being said, I do want to be able to use 2-hand swords (on a warrior or whatever), I want a samurai class, a GEOMANCER class please, Time Mage, and some other ones from the original Final Fantasy Tactics game. But ONLY if they do a reboot of the job system. Otherwise it would feel weird thrown together with these Pugilist and Thaumaturge weird names.
If they were going to redo the job system entirely, I know lots of people would disagree with me, but I wouldn't mind having to start my character completely over to make it work properly.
Edit:
I forgot to add, that after they use the traditional jobs, then LATER they should add some new ones that have never been seen in FF games before, if they wanna spice things up, and that would work out better I think.
all of you are delusional. their will not be any new classes for months maybe till an actual expansion.
Alsoo fo course MMO's have new classes but not at this stage in the game..lol
Geomancer!!!! Please please please lol, could tie right in with marauder
I'd like to see the Content Class added to FFXIV. A mystical class that could travel across Ezorea bringing wonderful content to all. This class was clearly not in Tanaka's vision, but I think it would go a long way in making Ezorea a better place ^^
I would like to see chocobo digging and gardening added to the DoL gathering classes. Gardeners could grow ores for goldsmithers and veggies for the chefs. Chocobo digging could have almost anything like bugs for alchemists or act as a treasure hunter for special items. Both of these were unofficial crafts in XI and would be nice to see them return in XIV with an official spot.
Summoner, Geomancer, Fencer, Musketeer, Illusionist, Assassin, Templar, Chocobo Knight, Beastmaster, Bard, Time Mage, Holy Knight, Necromancer, and maybe Morpher.
As I've said a hundred times by now, Samurai. :P
After that, my personal short list would include Dark Knight, Ninja, and Summoner (or summons in some form, wielded by players). Of course, any additional "traditional" Final Fantasy archetypes they manage to throw in would be welcome!
I want to see engineer, but I want it to be a battle class that rides a mech like Tron Bonne from Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The weapon that you equip is the mech. Imagine lalafell in a big mech. And for the naysayers out there, this engineer class will be something from the Garlean empire cuz they do have mechs and flying aircraft.
I personally hate big gaudy weapons, so none of those please, there are countless other mmos with big gaudy weapons if people like the art design. This art design is more realistic (even xi has gaudy stuff like homam but it looked cooler than the average mmos gaudy stuff) I would like there to be a mage class that has enfeebles that matter (joke, because I'm a THM) on a more serious note, I would like a blue mage class, I think it is one of the easiest to implement besides beastmaster because you already have mobs and what moves they do. For blue mage though, the mobs abilities would have to be cool, but then again our classes abilities aren't cool looking so why should blue mages LOL.
summoner >yes, please<
i took a day break from ffxiv today and wanted to "dress" my lala as smn and give him a summon ... heres the result.
It started by just getting some more shadows into the environment... i so miss smn!!!

Many people don't know that Vindictus is based after Mabinogi and its actually called Mabinogi heroes, the reason why Vindictus was created was because Mabinogi was actually a pretty hardcore mmo underneath all the cutesy anime graphics and people never believed it, so they made battling number one and created Vindictus, which is techinally supposed to be set in a similar universe. So I won't flame you Mabinogi is one of the hardest f2p games out there right now.
Easy answer...Summoner. It's not FF without a summoner! Ifrit, Titan, and Leviathan are already coded into the game along with the fact that the LORE says we can summon primal's. Would I play it? I have no idea, but it would go ALOT further then any other class you can add I can think of to both fitting into the game/lore and making it feel more like an actual Final Fantasy title. It's a pretty bad joke it's not included atm and with yoshida stating he doesnt have any plans for extra classes it's a shame. Fix the current ones sure but you can still add others to flesh out the game as a whole, especially considering how many teams Yoshida has working under him :S
Pleas add Time mageeee =D
so i can cast:
haste, hasteja, bleed, demi, and much moarrrrrr =D
a rdm that is decent @ melee :3 that would make me happy.
yes it was.... you so couldn't solo mabinogi. heck the elf fight story fight with the knight phantom was hard.... XD i had ti buy 3 pets to tank it for me wile i ranged it. i miss playing mabinogi just the f2p thing made playing hurt ; ; idm if they remake mabonogi with a sub. I miss that game.
And you wasn't limured to classes any player could ware any item with in reason (level based) to make your own class. I always made a rdm :3 duel sword rdm made things hurt.
mabinogi reminded me of ffxi in the way.
Blue Mage, Time Mage, Summoner, Dark Knight
:D
Samurai ..... so thats why everyone typed 10chars. Ha
Need the God Hand class ! :D
Ninja, dancer, bard, thief, assassin. Mainly bard any any dagger-wielding class, I'm really surprised this game released without a dagger class O_O
I miss my dancer so much ;_;
Pretty much the variety presented in Final Fantasy: Tactics. That game was amazing and I can't think of a better way to make people feel class uniqueness then to have unique and amazing classes to start with. =)
Bluemage!!!
Gunblade class:
Strenths - able to inflict damage efficiently with both melee and ranged attacks, uses MP in ranged WS to fire elementally-charged bullets with add. status effects, can continue to fight effectively when out of ammo
Weaknesses - lower HP pool, favors lighter armor (think arc), Few AoEs
Example Skills:
Lightning round - Fire a lightning-charged bullet, dealing lightning-element dmg, has a chance to stun target
Freezing round - fires an ice-charged bullet, dealing ice-element dmg, has chance to paralyze target
Fire round - fires a fire-charged bullet, dealing fire-element dmg, can inflict burn on target
Quick Slash - Deals light damage/bind, character jumps back out of melee range
Hard slash - deals heavy melee dmg
Standard shot - deals ranged dmg
Guild loc: Garlemonde (since the empire is the only faction seen using them at this time)
i want samurai
^ who doesn't lol.
