AK, after a wipe at demon wall
DPS: hey healer, next time, use Medica II and Regen on the tank so we don't wipe, ok?

(for his defense, I was terrible at Demon Wall / for my defense it was my first time)
My first time as the first to leave was Stone Vigil. I was the only one who had been there before
Tank could only hold aggro on one mob (and no marking), summoner used titan (on the same mob as the tank), BM broke my sleep. Generally slow killing.
I got healing aggro on every multi-mob pull. We wiped in the first big room on 2 patrolling dragons - because standing in the red is the new black.
It had taken me three tries to finish it myself, and I knew this group would never succeed - so I pulled the plug.
Honestly the worst is off tanks not knowing what off tanking means. Second is DPS that think they can ignore adds and burn boss when they have crap gear. Basically a crap ton of people looking to be carried.
Ah first demon wall. Mine went something like "okay this isn't so ba....Oh god floor....Okay slowly getting the hang of...oh god why was i knocked off!?" "Okay so middle for repel...Got it...Cool okay i got this OH JESUS CHRIST ADDS WHY ARE PEOPLE TAKING DAMAGE OH GOD I'M SLOWED AND EVERYONE IS DEAD" After this some guy in the party called Walter got really mad at me and eventually i managed to sort myself out but for the next couple of times i still paniced when i saw the adds and stopped watching the floor.
That moment when you cast Benediction and you die right after you cast it. This has happened to me multiple times and it has decided whether my party wipes or not :( And i have to wait for the cooldown so i can't use it again in the next fight
AK... my God...
My 3rd run.
First boss, I die because we couldn't burn the boss down by the time the last add spawned, it AoEd and one shot me and the DPS ;-; tank managed to finish it though.
Demon Wall. I'm very good at this fight, it's fun :D The tank? Not so much. Knocked off, EVERY TIME. About 5 attempts later, the SMN DPS left. We got a Bard, and managed to defeat the boss.
Last boss... ugh, I'm a total failure here. u-u
The first attempt, I didn't see the second AoE and wasn't able to move behind the stone in time. Second attempt, I thought I was behind the rock, but the tank had the boss literally on the stone so I couldn't see very well. I died. Next attempt, Dodging AoEs perfectly, feeling good about it. Omg... what happened? Everyones taking major dmg! *spam healing and doesn't realize I have purple laser* *Lasor kills me and the DPS* Bard leaves.
BLM comes. 1st AoE I dodge, second AoE, IM RIGHT BEHIND THE FREAKING STATUE AND I DIE. WTF!? The BLM was standing there with me, and told me I wasn't behind it, even though I was lying RIGHT UNDER HIS DAMN FEET. Other BLM was loling because I shouldn't have gotten hit. Last attempt, 7mins left. We can do this! Nope, nvm. I do great at dodging AoEs, am wary about lasers, and then... ofc with my luck, heavy is tossed on me, I'm standing next to my fairy who has an AoE marked on her from an ad, I struggle to move out of the way, but I'm going 2 steps an hour, and get hit by the AoE. Bosses HP was less than 10% and the ads killed everyone because I couldn't heal them.
FML. Tank: "Jon, I ****ing hate you right now"
What terrible if you're not the healer or the tank... You're just an Arcanist and you haven't gotten Scholar yet. The tank runs through, pulls and focuses on only one enemy. Because the healer is being swarmed is only healing herself just frantically trying to stay alive. You the Arcanist have to tank all the adds yourself with Carbuncle while healing yourself, the mage, the dumb tank, and all the dps guys. Luckily we didn't wipe and love my carbuncle to death for it. >_> That was my least favorite PUG...
aurum vale as scholar.....
also anytime i try to let shit DD's die Eos is like LOLNO!
I love you guys for this right here ~<3 My story was from today. I did my first healing run ever, ant it was Tam-Tara. The tank said nothing, and hardly pulled anything. The archer did most of the tanking, and he died twice, which made me nearly die from shame. But he was cool about it, and knew the tank was being derp. He even stood still so the tank couldn't run ahead a few times XD
Not so much a healing horror story - but since I am a WHM main I could totally feel for the poor CNJ in my Toto-Rak Group. I was the tank and kept marking mobs - The CNJ wanted to sleep mobs that were in packs of 3 (ie Warden Whip and Louse Mobs). So I gave him/her a marking for the sleep. Arcanist kept attacking mob#2 First then the Slept Mob but would never touch mob #1. I'm trying to hold everything on me but the minute I generate enough threat on one he changes targets and manages to pull the mob off me. The poor healer is spamming to keep me alive and then eventually to keep himself up because every mob is now at 15% health instead of being dead/slept.
I believe my horror stories will be summed up with the next sentence, I don't get how this game has so many of these, but I am sure many of you will know what I mean.
STONNER TANKS.
In a party tonight with a SMN who insisted that "it is a waste of MP to not spread dots" on trash mobs. Tank labeled every single trash pack with kill order numbers and the BLM in party had no problem killing mobs in order. But the SMN, on every single trash pull, spread his dots and pull the slept mobs. I let him die a few times and eventually he just stopped DPSing on the trash lol. Mentioned his name in FC and several people chimed in saying they had already blisted him.
l2dot bro.
I've been doing a lot of Ifrit runs lately (No cane in 30+ runs!) and my worst horror story is a tossup between these two.
First one wasn't even too bad. We never wiped, but the other WHM kept dying to plumes and ended up staying out a third of the duty, and the tank seemed to be a bit new and was stunning plumes and getting resists. No problems with the DPSs and I'm able to soloheal the MT as they finally got the idea. The WHM kept dropping every time I res'd him, so I let him be. All's going well, when suddenly I'm being cursed at by a DPS telling me I should be kicked. What? The tank isn't even close to being dead. Ifrit has less than 10% HP left. LB3 is full and can down Ifrit anytime. Only thing wrong is the WHM, and he's at ~30% HP after being raised for the 4th time. After we downed Ifrit, I was finally able to ask what was up, and I was met with golden phrases such as "the other healer solohealed," "you suck, good job [otherhealer]," and "learn to heal." I would have ragequit had we not just finished.
(Cont.)
Second one was a smooth run initially, but very, very slow. When the LB3 filled, Ifrit was still at 80% health, but I didn't think much of it until we reached the spikes. The summoner LB3'd, but the spikes were BARELY TOUCHED. We wiped. Turns out the summoner was decked out in AF gear but with a level 38 white weapon. I honestly don't know how he got through AK.
This 1000 character limit sucks. Really had to make my stories pithy.
My horror story past lvl 40 seems to deal with the auto face feature during movement heavy fights. Nothing like running out of ae while casting regen on a slow poke just to auto face right back into the circle of derp.
Auto face is a stupid option for healers so not needed XD. It makes the Demon Wall incredibly frustrating.
At Aurum Vale as WHM. During the last-boss fight ....
PLD: Ok guys, eat fruit at 3 stacks. Destroy every sprout.
Dragoon A: Got it.
Dragoon B: .... roger
Me: Do I have to kill those sprouts as well?
PLD: Just focus on healing everyone.
Me: OK!
<Two Dragoons could not destroy every sprout in time>
<Crazy damage from every boss' AoE hit>
<wipe>
Me: ....
Dragoon A: Damn, my attack is too weak. Cannot finish them in time.
Dragoon B: (sigh)
PLD: Let's do this again.
<Repeated the same sequence>
<Crazy damage from every boss' AoE hit>
<wipe>
PLD: ....
Dragoon A: ....
Dragoon B: (sigh)
Me: ... Do you still need my assistance in order to destroy those sprouts?
PLD: Do as you like.
<WHM ran after boss when he spread the sprouts>
<Switch to Cleric Stance>
<Began spamming Holy like it's a new year fest>
<Cleared>
<Berserker Healer has emerged>
I was doing Halatali as a SCH to get my GC company log done, we get in, and things start off....slow. The tank seems very afraid to pull even a single mob, and when we eventually do pull, he refuses to tank anything properly. I continually got aggro, everyone in the party knew this guy was terrible, and I eventually said, screw it, i'll tank. So for the rest of the run, we had a SCH tank, with a token gladiator in the party doing literally nothing except....I couldn't tell you what he was doing. I held aggro better than him, could heal myself, and do decent damage at the same time.
Doing Stone Vigil in the duty finder was...a nightmare. I think it was best described as the Dragoon thought he was a tank and the Paladin thought he was a DPS, the Summoner was at least sensible. Good news is, we didn't fail, but we died, a lot. Dragoon would jump right in, aggro all the mobs, I'd try to keep him alive, hoping the tank would come AoE them off of him, but ended up getting the aggro myself - I even dragged the mobs right next to the tank and they just DPS'd on the one mob they had targeted. At least when it came to bosses there was really only 1 mob to fight and the tank managed to keep hate. I was tempted to let the Dragoon die for his impatience, but I would probably have still pulled aggro (as well as the Summoner) because tank wasn't taking all of the mobs.
However, my experience with the duty finder has actually mostly been good. Sometimes DPS liked getting themselves killed, but tanks have mostly been pretty sensible in my experience...maybe I'm lucky.
I have sooooo many XD
1- Our party has something wrong
I had to clear Haukke Manor, I asked in the FC and we created a 4 people group. We couldn't see each other's class because we were too distant.
We got in, we checked the other members' classes, and... NO TANK.
We cleared Haukke from the beginning to the end as 1WHM, 2DRG and 1LNC.
It was damn hard, but reeeally enjoyable.
2- I won't raise you
First boss of Aurum Vale, the two dds die together, I raise them, we die.
Second try, they die together, I raise them, we die again.
Third try, they die together again, but I don't raise them: the tank runs around the boss and I heal him, eating the fruit at first debuff stack, we make it from nearly the beginning to the end of the boss as 1WHM and 1WAR. I have to thank the tank of that fight, maybe the best tank I've ever seen.
3- How did he get to lv50??
Fighting Garuda HM, during the whole fight the other WHM keeps dying over and over again, so many times taht I don't remember anymore, and we don't have any other than me with Raise, so I have to raise him again and again and again, something like 5-6 times during a single fight!
Aaand we did it at first try :D
Oh, and the worst horror story is GETTING THE WHM TO LV50. It's the slowest class to lvup, I'm doing THM now and I got 16 levels in 1-2 hours.
Man, now that my FC has more 50s I have less horror stories to share :( I do have to say I do feel sorry for my FC when we're helping out people and I'm on summoner. I have to remind them "this is why you won't let me dps"
Stone Vigil last night where the scholar was in cleric stance till after first boss (forgot to turn it off and I was resisting looking at health bars) and at some point he was dpsing and I was healing on summoner o.@ hilarity ensued and the only person to die the whole run died of their own accord, lagging into breaths.
Oh wait, the healer died on last boss, and I kept tank going long enough for me to res the healer and blackmage, who wound up raised into the aoe "doh".
Doing Ifrit HM with 2 paladins that couldn`t stun eruption(like ever, they always stunned too late or didn`t stun at all)
result? party dropping and i`m unable to heal effectively because i have to keep running from eruptions =[
Just did an AK. Warrior tank lost threat almost every pull to my fairy, then me, A SCH healer of all things.
Person had defiance up the entire run.
2nd pull of AK. I pulled threat on two of the 3 hyppogryphs from 3 dots, bane, miasma 2, then one direct heal from me. That takes over 7 seconds to do.
Next pull. Warrior pulled dullahan with 2 hyppogryphs. I sacred soil, virus the dullahan, put eye for an eye on the warrior. I pulled buff threat because of eye for an eye on the two hyppogryphs. My fairy then pulled threat, got KOed, then I had threat again since I actually had to heal with no fairy to boss around.
The pulls up to demon wall were more of the same. After my fairy, a BLM, and I tank for a bit, and we kill the group, the warrior says "Ok im out, apperently im nto good enough for mass AOe spams on mobs im not even attacking". When you lose threat to a SCH healer as a tank in AK almost every pull, that's when you need to seriously reconsider your job of choice. I even reminded that guy that WHMs pull way more threat than I do. The icing on the cake: this guy had a mogaxe, so technically, they had more time with this game than me.
Shoulda've told him to play bard instead. Not only is it easier, but I think he'd be decent at holding threat for once.
I haven't healed too much, 4-5 runs of dungeons but you always seem to get some hyper active lancer running in and thinking they can tank every mob.....
Bringing up the thraumaturge there was this tank only able to tank one mob. Ok nothing special so far. Our healer got aggro I slept a mob and DD tank the other. The tank turns around and attacks the sleeping one loosing aggro of the first to the healer. The healer is getting down quite steady so I toss out some heals to stablisze the group with the result of getting healaggro on thr. from all three mobs.
I was running Toto rak with my brother tanking and we had two lancers from DF join us Which was fine and all that but then one of the lancers charged off miles ahead of us and pulled multiple mobs as my brother drew the aggro back on him the lancer kept attacking the mobs I kept casting sleep on along with the other lancer.
So later on he rushes off miles ahead TWICE and pulls the entire room's mobs,
We rush to help him the first time, But the 2nd time we arrive late and he's down to his last 100 hp I could of saved him but the entire room's mobs were on him and in a stairwell no less, So I let him die and focused the tank Afterwards I raised him and stated if he had learned his lesson he called me bad and an ass over and over, As we defeated the boss he told me to l2p and left. Every lancer I've come across while dungeoning has run off ahead of the group pulled mobs, And ultimately put the groups safety at risk, Has anyone else suffered through this?
WHM is my second class, I haven't been yet at the endgame. The Horror story of healing so far is when I pug a team at sunken temple of qarn, the tank is incredibly stubborn. I don't over healing but he takes damage so huge, and let the 2nd boss (golem) hitting me. I already told him to take over, but he said that I am stupid for dying. The other member (BLM and DRG) are already tired of him, and trying to warn him about the way he tank. I kept tanking the boss and dies all the time :( Turns out that WAR is his first class and job, being stubborn is not the only negative thing from him but also his way of tanking :( when gets aggro he didn't make the boss's back become our front side. dps kept dying, and patience runs out. DRG leaves, that tank still mumbling blaming me and BLM. BLM mad and they get into a fight, I confuse then I leave.
Worst healing experience ever. Turns out that the DRG is Japanese, only me, BLM and WAR who are speaking English. Poor DRG :(
Waiting till 45 to do last primal story line so I would have most of my AF gear. Zone in to find lvl 44 bard(who refused to stand in my Los) 44 war and 44 drg, and only the war had lvl appropriate gear the dps must of just got done farming fates from lvl 15-44 non stop. So feathers pop I slam cleric stance, and 2 holy later I go back to healing. 5 tries later the harpy is dead and my nerves are shot from having to run around trying to keep everyone in Los... I wonder if Cheetos will let me barrow there slap robot for derps who refuse to read my frantic "get into Los for heals" pleas to the dps.
Off tanks who can never get aggro in 2nd boss adds of CM.
There's a reason I never run that as a whm anymore. Never again.
I really have no idea how this happened btw....
Okay I usually main SCH. I was doing an Ifrit HARD with a friend of mine for his relic quest, and we got to the nail phase. Somehow the summoner/blm limit break didn't take down the nails, but I didn't notice I was healing the tank and talking on mumble. So, before he goes into his infernal blow up skill I put up my bubble thinking it was alright. Put up Succor on the party, and BAM everyone died but me and the two tanks.
So then I res the other scholar who was really an amazing open-minded person. I didn't want to waste LB3, so we then continued to res them one by one, and beat it eventually.
Wasn't really a horror story but it was an....oh....shit.
Made a praetorium run and I had the feeling I was the only healer.
I also love it when a SCH doesnt know how to heal. He was out of range of everybody and spammed succor. Had full stacks of aetherflow and didn't lustrate the tank. I was like "okay okay can happen. This was your first time here, now you know how to dodge and calm down" second run it really got better though.
However there was another SCH in garuda HM. The tank at 100HP and he starts casting succor (He had aetherflow) in the middle of a tornado and says "can't do much while I'm OOM" (STARTS USING THE SKILL WHICH HAS THE MOST MP COSTS BESIDES RES.). We were just past first sister phase at that point.
I called him out, said "You should use lustrate more and aetherflow + energy drain if your mana is quite low. Adlo the tank or physic him but don't spam cast succor" he replied with "I know my job", I said probably something rude afterwards. Don't remember my exact wording but it was something along the lines "oh no u don't know your job bla bla bla" After that he RQ. I feel kinda bad, was probably too harsh on him.
And yea the usual tank doesnt move out of brayflox last boss line aoe and tanks not using flash. Even if you are kissing their ass and spam "HELP" in chat while you try to heal everyone.
Titan. Just all of it.
I've had a number of antecdotal experiences equal parts awesome and terrible, but this is the first one really worth posting here.
My second run of Aurum Vale included a War, Monk, Summoner, and Whm (that's me). Decent party, solid fundementals, but a little green wrt the challenges of this particular dungeon. Still, everything runs pretty smoothly... up until the final boss. After a few failed attempts, we decide the only sufficiently powerful AOE skill any of us have to deal with the adds is... my Holy spell. So, in addition to keeping everyone alive, I have to, periodically and without warning, dive the boss, pop off a couple Holies (one might have been sufficient, but I was in no state of mind to be testing that hypothesis) and then run for my life, all the while praying nobody died. It was simultaneously the most horrifying and exhilarating thing I've ever done as a healer.
That is really funny. I just had the exact same experience in Aurum Vale myself, except instead of a monk and warrior, I had a Paladin and a bard so a little more security in the MP department but no less exilerating lol. Managed to win the last boss with the tank at 63hp and everyone else dead. Thought for sure we had lost it.
