So A little update, I had a quest called "The Weaponsmith of Legend" and once I completed that I was able to get "A Relic Reborn(Thyrus)" quest from Gerolt. I'm assuming this is the quest? I thought It was from Ironheart.

I have the quest and am also an Alchemist, can confirm for SMN it is Casting and 2 x savage might III. Updated when I made book for someone else

I know someone already post this, but for the SMN, it is confirmed. Erudites Picatrix of Casting with 2 savage Might Materia.

Pardon me for saying this: but applying a little common sense and basic reading skills will tell you that this is the quest you need

8x U'Ghamaro Quarrymen, 8x Bedesmen, 8x Priests for WAR I can confirm.

For the SMN Quest i used the book of Casting with Savage Might 3 x2, the quest is still bugged yes.

ok am i reading this right, you can BUY a champions lance? if so where do you purchase it from?

Can anyone confirm whether or not an HQ melded weapon can be turned in for the requirements? I am sitting on some HQ aeolian scimitars and was planning to meld one and use it until I got a better sword, and then eventually turn it in for the quest objective... but if they only accept NQs.

Not sure if this was confirmed yet, but for Warrior the Beastmen are U'Ghamaro Quarrymen, Bedesmen and Roundmen.

There's a typo in the quest that counts kills of Roundsman as Bedesmen and Bedesmen kill as Priest kills.

Hi, is anyone know if i can just cancel my quest and take another Job to do it ? (I'm summoner on the chimera quest and would like to go for the scholar quest).

And will i loose my Erudite's Picatrix Of Casting ? :(

Yes you would.

I just completed the part of the SMN Relic quest, the Erudite's Picatrix of Casting + Savage Might III x2, it successfully let me hand in (though the quest text is still bugged as it asks for the healing version), now onto the Alumina Salts part of the questline

Can you maybe add how to obtain the Holy Shield too?

You get the shield when you get the sword it's like a 2 for 1 deal for PLD

How do I get enchanted gold ink? like what class/level is required and whats the recipe? TYVM in advance

Are the SUM and SCH weapons still bugged?

*cough* big Q&A incoming. I think I have got all the unanswered questions int he thread since I last posted. Apologies if I missed one of yours.

Thank you to everyone who confirmed the SMN and SCH quests. I think that one person who had their SCH quest bugged was having localisation issues with the french client. For english the quest hasn't changed and is bugged as usual.

Personally, I spent a busy weekend getting SMN to 50 and completing story quests. I was unfortunatly spoiled for one 'shocking' thing which ruined it a little for me, but apart from that it was very enjoyable. I look forward to future story expansions. I am now finally working on my own relic quest for SMN, so I will actually know what I'm talking about, heh.

Nope, the weapon is something you can do in advance. In fact, you could potentially get all the weapons crafted and melded and have them sitting in a bank ready for the next class you do the quest on.

Each item should say wether it is convertable or not. To get tier III materia you need gear with an ilevel (Item Level, not Equipping Level) of 45 or more. As for all classes items, I am not sure. All we know is that the conversion possibilities is based on the items use. If it is equippable by all classes but favours mellee stats you are more likely to get mellee materia.

The purpose of the Cesti isn't to be used in itself, but to be upgraded to a super level 50 item. You can use the melded weapon before turning it in for the quest, but the main purpose of it now is for relic quest.

AF +1 is obtained by improving the relic items gained from the Relic Reborn quest. To upgrade, you need to talk to the furnace near Gerolt and exchange the relic plus some items costing 900 Allagan tomestones of mythology.

Since this is a popular question, I will add a section to my first post about relic upgrades. I wish I had reserved a second post on this thread. I will have to fiddle with the formatting so it doesn't look all wall of text-y, so give me a bit on this.

When the partial quests transcribes from 1.0 you will be placed in the approximate position you were in, in the old quest in the new quest. THat means that your quest journal will say you have completed various new steps that repalced the old steps.

I am not sure why you would still have your unfinished curtana. It should have been turned back in to gerolt halfway between killing hydra and starting on the primals. You should send this in as a bug report.

Don't think it was really worthy of shouting at me in capslock. I never realised that there were 2 quests until I actually started mine, seeing as how most people had commonsense to realise that you get the actual quest later. Updated first post to indicate it is a quest chain.

As far as I know, no one as yet has testing out if you can turn in HQ weapons. A couple of people have asked but no one has confirmed or denied.

The shield is a 2-for-1 deal. You get it automatically with the sword, you lucky paladins.

Alchemist makes it with Gold Sand and some other stuff (base items are listed on the front post). For more specifics, check out www.xivdb.com. It is the best FFXIV database out there and can help with so many things.

Okay you'll have to excuse me since I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but does that mean when you equip it it won't have the stats it's supposed to and is useless or is it just that the text is bugged and that you can still get it and it will work?

The quest text is bugged when it comes to telling you which weapon you need to get melded to turn in. The quest will say you need an Erudite Picatrix of Healing, when you need the Casting version of the book.

If i have already used the weapon and its bound to me, can i still give the weapon to Gerolt ?
Kinda don't want to try it out and put materia in it if its "useless" then.

Yes, you can trade in used weapons as long as it is melded correctly.

So, if you start it on one class, you have to do it on that class before going to do it for another? Completely needs to be changed. We should be allowed to abandon (some of us switched classes).

You can begin the quest for another job already, but you will lose all progress you've made on the current job's relic.

Why can't I start the quest? I have met all the requirements. I cancelled my PLD relic quest to start my BLM relic quest, but now I can't accept it for some reason...

Is the broken weapon (SMN) located in a specific spot in the Sylphlands camp or does it drop off a random mob? been all over the place and cant find it.

It is one specific place. On the map there is a red circle. You may note that there is a small path to the right of the central bit where the red circle is. You have to go down there (sorry if that sounds rather vague)

1 - Pre-requisite: Complete Class and Job quests for respective weapon. If you did all job quests in 1.0, you will still need to do them all again regardless of having it already fully unlocked.-DONE

2 - Pre-requisite: Complete Main Scenario Quest and unlock access to Amdapor keep (either through dungeon side quests starting with Aurum Vale or through grand company quest after MSQ)-DONE

3 - Talk to Nedrick Ironheart in Vesper Bay to start the quest chain-DONE

4 - Talk to Rowena in Revenant's Toll-DONE

5 - Talk to Gerolt in Hyrstmill-DONE

ok so this is where m stuck. I talked to Gerolt and completed the mission weaponsmith of legend. But after that i was not givin another quest. I was givin the cords (x25, y17) by another smn who has their relic weapon and it looks like the right place.

Now there is no red circle there so I am assuming that I am missing a quest somewhere. The only thing I can think of is that I need to do the amdapor dungeon to get it unlocked.

If you have the quest and are up to the correct stage, there should be a red circle on your map above the Sylphlands indicating where the chest is. There will be a flower-like bulb with the words "Treasure Coffer" over it.

The quest is called "A Relic Reborn (Veil of Wiyu)". You pick it up from Gerolt. Of you don't have the quest you can't start on the rest of it. Are you on the summoner job when talking to Gerolt?

yes i am. when i talk to him now he just rambles on about mead. when i go and ready the last quest he gives me it says "do as gerolt directs if you wish to become the proud owner of a legendary arm of yore."problem is he hasnt givin me anything to do.

Not sure if this has been answered, but can you use high quality weapons for the melding. Or does it have to be standard.

is there already Guide for Relic+1 weapon?
