Thanks Nix. :)
OK, so it looks like the only thing a 1.0 Player with Collector's Edition *and* Legacy Status has to worry about is if they want any of the NEW Pre-Order Bonuses or NEW Collector's Edition Bonus Items, correct?
Sigh. Hm...

Legacy status OR pre-ordering *anything* (not necessarily a CE) gives you early access (my understanding).
I think your second sentence is confusing, Nix ^^; If you are a 1.0 Non-Legacy owner, I don't think you automatically qualify for early access. You do automatically get to DL the game for free though. In order to just play (not early), a 1.0 owner will have to pay nothing at all for the game (other than subscription.)

Square Enix accounts and service accounts are two separate account types. Service accounts refer to the various game services a user registers to play. When you register FINAL FANTASY XIV to your Square Enix account, it will create a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account within your Square Enix account.Quote:
I see a lot of people mentioning "Square Enix accounts" and "service accounts," but are these the same thing?
If you'd like to play on the PC and PS3 separately, you only need 1 Square Enix account to do so.Quote:
Let's say I want to set up two accounts to play on the PC and PS3 at the same time. I need two separate Square Enix accounts to do that. Also, I was planning to use the early access code from the PS3 version I pre-ordered on the Windows account. Does this mean I shouldn't bother trying to setup separate accounts for Windows and PS3.
However, you will need an additional copy of the Windows version to register a pre-order code for characters used on your Windows account. (The pre-order code for the PS3 version cannot be used on the Windows version)
If you only intend to purchase the PS3 version, then we suggest the following:Service Account 1. Your original Windows service account.Service Account 2. A service account using your newly purchased PS3 version (together with the pre-order code)Using two service accounts as shown above, you will be able to play on both versions at the same time. However, in order to use your pre-order code on the Windows version, it would be necessary to link the PS3 version to the Windows version. In doing so, you would not be able to play on two accounts at the same time.
Yes, you'll have no trouble registering for the PS3. Users will not be asked for their registration code when using an account from Version 1.0. When registering for the PS3, linking to your current service account will allow 1.0 characters to play on both the PC and PS3.Quote:
Let's say I played Version 1.0, and I'd like to use my character on both the PC and PS3. Can I still set up my account to work on PS3 if I lost my registration code from Version 1.0?
A registration code for the PS3 version must be registered to a service account in order to log on the PS3. Anyone can sign into their PS3 account on any PS3 as long as they have a service account created or linked with a PS3 registration code. They likewise have to sign in using their own Sony Network Account linked to their own Square Enix ID.Quote:
You can only have one service account per PS3, but will I be able to use a different Square Enix ID when logging in?
For example, I own the PC and PS3 version and a friend comes over to play (he also has an account). Would I be able to play on my PC while my friend logs into his account on my PS3? Will only my Square Enix ID work on the PS3 once the account is linked?
We can't give a specific date at the moment, but we're working as quickly as possible to settle on a time-frame for early access.Quote:
Will the early access dates be announced by the end of July?
We cannot give a definitive answer without examining the account in question, but it's possible that you will automatically receive the items, or require a separate procedure as was necessary when first registering your account. Please contact Square Enix Customer Support during the launch period to resolve these types of concerns.Quote:
Let's say I participated in the Version 1.0 beta and bought the 1.0 collector's edition for my account. However, when my character was transferred from beta to official release, there was some trouble with the process and my account was suspended, so I had to re-register my code. I also used my collector's item code on that first account, but I wasn't allowed to re-register it. Will it still be possible to receive the new collector's edition items? Or will I have to upgrade to the collector's edition?
We are preparing a system to allow users to purchase the digital upgrade from the account management site. An official announcement will be made when this system is ready.Quote:
How do I go about getting the digital upgrade for the collector's edition?
The 30 day trial will apply to your account.Quote:
Let's say I purchased the the collector's edition for Version 1.0 and also have Legacy status. If I purchase the standard PS3 version and register it to my account, does the 30 day trial apply to my account, or would I have to make a new account.
1. If you create a new service account for the PS3 version, you will not be able to log into your 1.0 characters on the PS3. In order to do so, the PS3 and PC versions must be linked together on one account.Quote:
Let's say I purchased the collector's edition for Version 1.0.1. If I buy the PS3 collector's edition and make a new account, will I be able to play my PS3 characters on the PC?
2. Will both my PC and PS3 characters get the collector's edition items?
2. Yes, both characters will have the collector's edition items.
Unfortunately that won't be possible. Characters on the same service account cannot be logged in simultaneously on different clients.Quote:
If I buy the FFXIV:ARR PC collector's edition and the PS3 standard edition and do not make a separate account, but have separate characters, can I log in on the PC and PS3 at the same time?
Yes, registration can only be done using a PS3.Quote:
For the PS3 pre-order code and product registration, does the PlayStation Store have to be accessed through a PS3 to register?
This is scheduled for phase 4.Quote:
Characters being transferred from Version 1.0 will get to make their characters over one time, will that be during early access or Beta Phase 4?
Hrmph. lol Mine didn't get answered!
I'm a paraphrase my earlier questions for clarity.
1) Does a brand new player who buys the PS3 and the PC version and registers them to the same FFXIV Service Account gain 60 days of access without subscription, rather than the 30?
2) Is the purchase of the basic edition the only 'system unlock' that is required, or will we have to buy both PC and PS3 editions for each expansion if we wish to continue playing on both systems?
I have two friends waiting to make a a decision on pre-ordering some CEs based on the answers to #1...
I really really like your Q2, Mjoll.
Just so I'm reading this right. I have a 1.0 CE + legacy account, and in order to get the preorder digital items on my pc account, I need to preorder a ps3 version (Since you can't use a PC preoder code on an already owned PC account?)
Will I be able to pre-order the physical PC collector's edition from Gamestop (EB Games up here in Canada) at some point or am I out of luck?
I really hope this will be answered...
Does anyone have any information if retail stores like GameStop, will sell PHYSICAL CE versions for PS3 of ARR?
I would really like to have all the physical items, and since I live so close to a store, there is no need to order online.
If a first time player bought the PS3 version of the game, can they then download the PC version for free or would they need the disc?
Thanks!
Hi, thanks for answering. However you're talking about the PS3 version only right?
What I meant to ask was: If my friend purchased the PS3 version and made an account and character, if he later on wanted to use that character on PC instead, will he then need to purchase the PC version of the game or will he be given the option of downloading it for free online?
I know Yoshi-P said that a PC player will need to also purchase the PS3 version if they want to use their account on that system, but I'm unsure if this is the case the other way around.
I assume you'd have to buy the game for each platform you plan to play it on. And of course link the two codes to the same SE/XIV service account. I don't think they'd get PC version for free if they want to later play on PC.
What I thought, thanks JillyBean! ^^
Is the physical PC Collector's Edition only available on the SE Store?
So what now since PS4 release is confirmed? I should just wait for the PS4 version since I look foward in buying a PS4 in the first place?
I'm a 1.0, reserved my copy at a gamestore, but now for a couple of months, I could play it on a better system, probably better than my current PC lol.
So I guess I'll just play it off on pc until ps4...right?
I went through all the answers, but I didn't see ones that might have answered my questions.
- What's the status of obtaining the Hermes Shoes again? My first character I made in 1.0 received the shoes because I linked my FFXI account before I created it. However, I no longer play that character and I no longer play XI, so the next(and main)character I created does not have Hermes Shoes. Will all my characters receive the Hermes Shoes if I'm no longer subscribed to FFXI if at least one character has it?
- I'm currently a 1.0 Collector's Edition Legacy member. The only in-game items I want now are the pre-order bonuses. I'll be pre-ordering the Collector's Edition for the physical items as well BUT: If I already have a SE account with characters, and I input the code for the pre-order items, will I receive them in my in-game mailbox?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Amazon has yet to add the PC CE version, do they not? At first I feared they might be sold out, but how can they, when pre-orders has barely begun... :p
Just thinking you might want to add something about PS3 users not having to buy ARR again for PS4. It took me a bit to discover that with google. Or please correct me if that's wrong.
Ok, so after reading through all 23 pages of this thread, I am now confident about the best option to purchase: the PS3 Collector's Edition ($79.99 USD) seems to offer everything in one single package.
I have a 1.0 Standard FFXIV Account and would like:
(1) the in-game pre-order bonuses [Early Access + Cait Sith Doll Minion + Mog Cap]
(2) the in-game collector's edition bonuses [Helm of Light + Coeurl Mount + Behemoth Barding + Baby Behemoth Minion]
(3) the physical collector's edition items [Exclusive Box + Art Book + Special Movie Disc + Special Soundtrack + Art Card Set + FFXIV: ARR Themed Security Token]
So from all the information that I've gathered, with the purchase of the PS3 Collector's Edition, I should be able to register the new product code onto my Sony Entertainment Network account via PS3, then link it to my existing Windows account to receive all of the aforementioned in-game bonuses for my existing 1.0 character and all new characters that I create thereafter.
After all this, I believe that I will end up with a single FFXIV: ARR Service Account which can be played on either Windows or PS3 and it will be considered "2.0 Collector's Edition Status".
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can verify all of this information! I'm glad I did some researching before I made any purchases, because my initial instinct was to just order the Collector's Edition for PC, but that evidently requires an additional Collector's Edition Digital Upgrade x.x.
You and me are on the same page. Both 1.0 Standard version players, and want to get, in short, EVERYTHING.
To get all that you've listed, I've understood that our options are:
- Pre-order Collectors Edition (PS3), and then link our products to our accounts via a PS3 console. (80$)
- Pre-order Collectors Edition (PC [NOT downloadable version]), and then buy the Digital Upgrade when it comes out. (70$ + 20$ = 90$)
If you own (or have access to) a PS3 console, then option one is cheaper. Also you can pre-order it right away from Amazon.
Whilst option 2 costs 10$ more, and we will have to wait for the products to be buy-able from any website, it does not require anything and is the more straight-forward solution.
I'm probably gonna end up taking option 1.
I do not own a PS3, but where there is a will there is a way.
I have been told by SE Support Personnel, during a Support Chat session, that the Onion Helm code IS NOT what identifies your account as a CE. The original CE's registration code for the game is enough for you to receive the bonuses...
This one isn't possible. The CE item codes in ARR are directly tied to the registration code for the game. The kicker is that 1.0 accounts cannot be paired with another PC version. This is why a 1.0 account NEEDS to be linked to a PS3 account in order to get the CE items.
So basically any 1.0 player who orders the CE [PC] version won't be able to get all the in-game items (Helm of Light, Coeurl Mount, Behemoth Barding, Baby Behemoth)?
It would be a good idea to mention that in the Pre-Order site... You know, as a heads up.
Well, I just pre-ordered the ARR:CE for PS3, and will later link it to my 1.0 account. I will sell my greedy soul to Satan if thats what it takes to make it work.
RandomQ: If I pre-order 1.0 PC standard edition, will I be able to apply the pre-order bonuses to my current service account or would I have to pre-order the PS3 version?
