You are going to judge a game based on the first 20 levels of gameplay with only 3 classes unlocked, with only a handful of zones around gridania?

the 3 things im scared about in ARR
1) The quest leveling is super boring
2) The new TP system (i dont support the change the was no reason to touch it dont fix what ain't broken sorry SE)
3) that XIV is just and exact wow clone i hate wow.
1. Can't be any more boring then grinding the same mobs over and over again to level, at least with quest leveling you get to do different things go to different zones.
2. The old TP system was very slow paced not up to the standards of today's action packed mmo
3. Have you even played WoW? If you did you would know its pretty much nothing like ARR. The races alone are totally different way different storylines too.
Well a good party makes grinding alot more fun. And running back and forth for quest is not that exciting unless the quest is fun, but i forsee escorts, kill certain mobs in random zones far away, or just running back and forth which is not fun to me at all. Yes i played wow to a 52 ranger i couldnt stand being ganked every 10 seconds by some ass clown of a rogue. getting spammed challenges every time i needed to run in town. The quests were god damn boring. And all i keep hearing from ppl is that the few differences from wow is no open pvp. The hand holding for quests is the same to an arrow point your along the whole way. granted its better than 11s quests that dont tell you to talk to ppl before running through getting all the way to a location and not getting the cs then having to go all the way back.
and i really wouldnt say it a slow system you have to zerg Miser if you want relic.
and to Zehira im gonna try the beta, but its the beta the fear of a repeat of 1.0 looms still im gonna be honest. I mean i love the way 1.0 ended it definitely had a FF feel to it.
I have no fear over 2.0, things that Yoshi P done with FFXIV from the moment he showed up can't be described in just few words. A little faith :)
Just think about it, many other titles go F2P becose they can't survive in any other way the way they are in that moment. But SE didn't close XIV, didn't go to F2P, they have done what they could to survive and in the moment they concluded that this can't go on like this, they closed to upgrade the whole project and bring us whole new FFXIV. All this money can't go to waste and most important all this effort can't go to waste.
There are many FF series lovers (me included) who really have great hopes for this game.
Am I optimistic or what ? ;)
1. Quests totally promote solo playstyle... what's the point of even playing a mmorpg then.
2. From what they showed us in Alpha... I don't see how non-brain skill spamming has any standards at all.
3. Well, point 1. and 2., ffxiv should stay unique imo.
There are so many mmorpgs that are so much alike already.
What people dont realise is F2P isent F2P... it means having a cash shop where important stuff will NEED to be bought there to complete end-game stuff... in the long run most people end up paying as much if more more then the 10-15$ montly fee. i HATE "F2P" games and doubt FFXIV will ever become that.
I don't mind it as much when its paying for convenience. If FFXIV were ever to go F2P, I'd imagine aetheryte teleporting, increased leve allowance, and special aesthetic giveaways being the main premium benefits. The free players will be left with walking to destinations, only so many levequests a day, and basic looking gear. That's one way to get players to subscribe without giving them an explicit advantage over everyone else.
The thing that scares me the most about ARR is that Lou teleported us all into Derplander's echo, Eorzea was totally annihilated, and the whole game we're about to play ISN'T EVEN REAL. In 10 years time, at the end of the main storyline, it will be revealed to us that we're all living dreams.
The possibility of F2P doesn't even register on my scale of worry.
Yeah, when Yoshi said they weren't going to even talk about the echo for the forseeable future, it gave me chills. Classic misdirection. Not sure I can handle this truth, so I'm gonna prioritise worrying about F2P as the OP advised.
I mean, what will it mean for us Legacy players who have bought lifetime subscriptions and want to server transfer/change our hairstyles every week? Will it even matter if we don't even exist???
the game so far how they show in the alpha is boring and not fun to keep playing for hrs. if by the end of the BETA things dont change this game gonna be exactly like the others mmo games out there and it will be a lose for SE. im tired of the same crap with the quest grinding, and for more they take ur hands to show you what to do.... i want SE to create a game that is challenge and fun but how is going is boring and really easy i mean sooo easy that i didnt even die once because the mobs were so damn easy and is alpha i know thats why im waiting for the BETA to come and see how harder it gets after lv20 but the first 20 lv the game is pretty USELESS AND BORING!
u disagree with what? im just saying the game is boring how it is there no explanation there i say it, the lving up to lv20 is was boring as fuck no challenge and i know is just lv20 but what if the game continue been like that until lv50? boring as fuck sorry but u dont have nothing good to say only u said i disagree with nothing to back you up
They have a big discussion about this on Tera, P2W Pay 2 win. I abhor this. A game run by greed will not be a game that succeeds. At the same time I see similarities in Tera and ARR I would rather not see. But the ps3 version of the game gives me hope it is not as complex as it seems if it can be completely controlled with a gamepad as 1.0 was.Quote:

The goal of the alpha wasn't to be challenging or hard, it was for stress testing and bug reporting.
Also, it was possible for you to create your own challenge and get a party to go kill some adamantoise or try a levequest much harder than you could take. Basically, it's like playing a demo for 80h and go on saying the game is too easy and short.
There's a difference between hard and challenging. In my experience running heroic 25 mans in WoW, the line between beating a boss and whiping was very thin. I give that to blizzard, they did a very good job on balancing these instances and bosses and i'm quite interested in seeing what they come with in FFXiV.
This game is NOTHING like Tera. I'm not going to sit here and slag Tera. It is one of the most beautiful games out there but as much as I get wide eyed at how well they did with their character creation, I've never hooked in to a character there enough to even break level 20.
FF14 has two things Tera never had. Crafting, real crafting and Sandbox leveling. All be it, poorly scaled sandbox leveling, it's there and it's the way I prefer to level. I was more than content to go out in Arborea and farm hides to level. Getting 125 exper when I needed 300,000 and taking quite a while to get that 125 was my gripe. It's the same in Tera and done by design. They don't even have a real crafting system let alone a stand alone option to be one.
It would be a lot easier for FF14 to replicate the things Tera has going for it than the other way around. They are two different creatures because of the roots of the games.
TERA goes f2p cuz they're losing customers
Main reason is the game lack of end-game content, max lvl ppl got nothing to do beside looping boring dungeons, abusing the low lvl in the pvp battleground, go crazy on world chat. i know cuz that's what i did over past couple months and i saw many ppl left becuz of that, it's getting bored at the end. In general, you don't have a goal you want to achieve in the game.
Other mmos are competitors to FFXIV:ARR, but so does FFXIV:ARR itself would be a strong competitor to other upcoming mmos, i dun really worry much about it.
1: Quest you solo all day boring like hell and you get sick of it quick i ended up doing dungeon in wow then questing how boring it got. FFXI/FFXIV1.0 sit around killing mobs all day while watching tv was easy and i enjoy it i also get to meet people on my world and get to know people better.
2: I enjoy both system so can't say much about it but i say i like the old way little better.
3: ARR pretty much going to be called a wow-clone no matter what it have everything that a standard mmo should have. People wont see the part we get to say from day one which everything that happen later. The questing, the bid system, free company have type of perks are people going to think and go omg what a dam wow-clone and that what they ask for but they still bitch. The only thing FFXIV have going for it right now is PS3 version, great CS storyline, Final Fantasy stuff, you only need one char. other wise i don't see anything else it going for it beside the fact that it's 10x better then any wow-clone i every played lol but overall it going to be call that matter if we like it or not.
Not saying i agree with what you're saying, but that's quite a catch-22 you're describing. generally "wow-clone" is used in a derogatory manner, both by players of WoW (other games are just copying us) and by players of other games (omg WoW sucks!). Yet you're saying it will be called a wow clone because it has things that, at least according to you, MMOs *should* have. So I'm not sure what you're trying to say: are you trying to say that this game shouldn't have things that every MMO "should" have, because it will be called a "wow clone"?Quote:

i understand what u saying god people dont read right! im SAYING!!!! I KNOW IS ALPHA AND THEY HAVE DIFFERENT MEANING FOR THAT, BUT IM SAYING IF!!! THE GAME STAY LIKE THAT EVEN IN THE BETA IS GONNA BE BORING AS HELL THATS WHY IM WAITING ON THE DAMN BETA TO SEE HOW WELL THE GAME IS!!!! GOD.................. sorry for cap when i start writing i forget to take it out lol
I'm not trying to make fun of you at all. I'm merely pointing out the fact that if you expect to come to the english boards, have people take you and your opinions seriously, and not take the time to properly type things out, then you're in error. You're acting like a child. It doesn't matter if it's not your first language. You should at least have enough of an understanding of it to not sound like a child before trying to come here and call out people who disagree with your opinion.
Also, beyond the language skills, you're attitude itself is childish. Things like "oh my god, please kill me", "dumb shits" and repeatedly using the phrase "dumb ass" in a single run-on sentence has nothing to do with with language. It has to do with a shitty attitude, an immature line of thought and an inability to convey your thoughts more maturely.
It's similar to me going over to the Japanese boards, using Google Translate for all my posts, then expecting them to take me seriously while acting in an extremely rude manner.
This system is good, but for GW2 and the company. SE won't go this route as their system setup for the game is going to be different.
Another point to so other post I've read. GW2 is not free to play, as you have to buy the box to play it. That was the developers plan for the game from the start of its development.
They solve their RMT issue with the mirco transactions they have setup, which is done well. I, as a player do not have to spend real money to by gems for the in-game store. I can simply farm gold and by the same gems to buy stuff from the gem store.
I just reached level 80 on one character. And I have to admit I am enjoying the exploration of the game, while I wait for ARR to go into beta. They did a very good job where exploration is concerned. Maps are very intricate and detailed, with a lot of hidden secrets all around.
The story may not be as good as what SE can dish out. but they way the present their story sequences I like. And the World events that occur on the map are fun to go through as well.
I say this to say. That I hope Yoshi and team are playing around with that game a bit to see how the exploration of the world is setup. Cause that I can admit, as a FF fan, GW2 has done well.
I didn't even like GW2 when I started playing it. But I've had more fun with it than starwars or Tera that's for sure.
Oh God, don't even joke about that. *shudder*
Just as Google Translate doesn't magically translate Japanese text to understandable English, it works just as bad in the other direction. I've even seen it uproot words and drop them into a completely different sentence. Even for languages with similar sentence structure, unlike Japanese and English.
SE won't let it go F2P, need revenue for expansiosn to be good.
