Sure, it appeared to work for a time, but I have no doubt that it was a GM's kill switch that went off when they saw /pray being used. It's all part of the event. It's an icky feeling to know that they were just pulling the strings the whole time, but it was fun to think we had power with /pray for a while. They are doing an awesome job with the event.

So yeah, sorry to the people who knew /pray was a hoax. I should have been more open minded.

A hoax would be something deliberately made up to fool people...
I still believe /pray works, but only as a way of encouraging a GM to kill a mob for us (such as when during our golem and H1 spawn I said how it looked hopeless, so lets pray for the Twelve's intervention, then people did, then their health dropped significantly) I do not believe its a game mechanic that makes praying auto-kill things, but I DO believe GMs are paying attention, and may lend a hand and kill a particularly strong mob if /pray is used by enough people.

Here on Gungnir we haven't heard anything from a GM.
And our spawns have been extremely sparse, only two or three at a time. Then again, there's only...40 or so people currently in Ul'Dah. Crazy!

I randomly got dropped to 1 HP while praying once... I saw it happened to someone else at least twice.

Here's our GM smiting a guy right after he killed Punainen.

He had a different effect, like fireworks or something that completely consumed him. Then his health dropped to nothing and he stood there for a few seconds, before finally dying.

Me too!! Yuyukosai seems have a lot of sense of humor :p

After darnus invasion my friend asked for a buffalo..... and popped!! OMG!
And i.. in the same time asked for million lv43 imperials for getting fun with my WAR... and popped!
I was the only fightning with imperials.. and GM plays with my HP bar lol... during fight i had 1hp and if i die... he raise me! (and had me again 1hp >.<).... but was fun lol

After (23 GMT) seems diseappear ;; he leave buffalo up ;; and i hope when i come back buffalo already dead lol

PS. I have the video when he play with my HP bar!!

I made a point to play all weekend to try and catch some of this fun. The most interesting thing was when Van Darnus invaded the Marauder's Boat in limsa.

Every time I log on I see one or two mobs that will take 5 hours to kill, start hitting it then it AoE one shots everything around it and I decide to log off.

Bleh. Seeing all you others on different servers with fun GMs makes me envious of you and so sad for Gungnir. All I saw all weekend was a few mobs most of the time and occasionally a largish horde of something. At no point have I ever seen anything like what some of you guys have in your screenshots, nor did I ever see a GM.

Gungnir GM is boring :( I demand a recall!

This was one of my many attempts to click the stones before the rest of you... They always killed me right as I felt success was within reach. Had a friggin blast last night.

Looks like maintenance today, says /pray to an ally will give them buffs and /pray to an enemy you'll get smited it seems now. Also free Inn item, 1 gil repairs, and mounts inside the city (meaning we'll see more Goobue wall posts..) lol

Yeah, they really shot down the /pray to the enemy idea. It's good that we can refresh our own buffs now. I'm pretty sure it was only the GM who put them up before.

Right before the server went down we had a really cool rep spawning up an entire garlian invasion consisting of priors and centurions right in the main drag of uldah

Also that many centurions dying at once is probably one of the most comical things I have heard in a long time. It became a white noise of "My death means nothing".

Super cool rep was also running around handing out super buffs and aoe raising us when we died. The fun came to a climax when he spawned van darnus and spawned a couple more waves of centurions with him. close to the end he spiced it up for us by spawning in two giant rock golems. We conveniently downed all the mobs 5 min before the servers came down.

It was the Imperial Burly brawl that I always wanted to be a part of. Mr rep, You know who you are. Thank you for being awesome

I think they decided praying TO the enemy looked kinda bad, lol. It was definitely working previously though, but probably just 'cause they were having fun. We'll see a lot more player smiting now though, I'm sure.

The new update is awesome. It feels like an actual war now rather than a monotonous grind fest like before. A lot more fun now.
