With her lips so drawn back and wrinkled, it's possible she just doesn't have any. But you got a point.
Honestly this mention of Moonkeepers makes me want to fully swap back to one, since it always felt like *I* was the clan's rep.

Dawntrail felt a lot more like ARR than people want to admit. The pacing was almost exactly similar in that we are watching a new world build itself around us and we are also only a little bit involved. That was obviously intentional by the writers. Only difference between then and now is having to wait months for the next part of the MSQ, where, if you started in a time after ARR was complete, you had the full and fresh context in your head to connect the dots. I see a lot of people who forgot what happened in the last patch because after some time, brain fog sets in, and they become disconnected from the story a lot easier.
Here's a saucy one...
Viera should never have been added, not because of the quality of the implementation, but because they got butchered in the transition, their less appealing Leporine features got erased, such as their claws and their 3-toed digitigrade feet, and a frustrating amount of people don't care about Viera being Viera, they want Viera to be generic animal person but rabbit, and keep asking for things that would make Viera stand out even less like adding rabbit tails. Hrothgar can stay idgaf about them, and while based on previous FF races, they are still largely original, so there is nothing to ruin.
There should be a glamour appearance collection tab (you pick up an item, right click to learn it and the appearance goes into a tab with unlimited slots) at this point and it's insane that they haven't given us one
I'd kinda like if other jobs could do other roles.
Like, maybe they stop adding new jobs (unlikely) but they add onto existing jobs. So you're a White Mage but if you want you can DPS, if you're a Paladin you can be a healer, so long as it still fits within the class fantasy I think that would be cool. Unlikely, but cool
Reaper is just Dark Knight but better.
Nah, it's been a meme for years how XIV lacks actual race diversity and how they're all basically just humans with halloween accessories, probably to cut corners when designing gear sets. Au ra should have scaly limbs and claws, not just 'tattoos.' Viera and Hrothgar should have claws and digitigrade paws, not human feet, and all 3, plus Miqo'te should have hats and helmets that compliment their horns/ears, not just delete them for convenience.
Most of the people happy about it don't want to play a non-Hyur, they just want a better Hyur.
And you know what, I am usually into that camp, I enjoy the Human+ races a lot, and while XIV races can be bland to some, they are still XIV races, Roegadyn may be strongly based on Galka, but they are not Galka, and so anything done to them doesn't really take away what Galka are for the people who loved them, Viera is uniquely positioned as being transplanted from their original setting into XIV, and they made very significant changes to them, and the fact those changes were made while still trying to claim they are Viera is what bother me, it isn't just design, compare Fanow(admittedly in the First, but it is the only Viera-only settlement we've seen) to Eruyt Village in FF XII, and it is a world of difference, and I am talking about vibes here, but they feel completely severed from their connection to nature to just make them "people".
I want to follow this up with a hot take from me.
This game needs more race exclusive things.
From emotes, to gear, all the way to battle animations and map features like the dwarf homes only being accessible to Lala's.
I would go even further and bring back race exclusive stat bonuses in more extreme. You want to be an unkillable WAR that doesn't have to think much? Better play a Roe.
Oh that much I completely disagree with, if anything, I think racial stat difference needs to be completely removed, it being 0.0000000000001% as it currently is too much, race plays such a relevant role in aesthetics that demanding people to play specific races to perform well is by itself a reason for me to not touch a game.
It was only half serious anyway.
Though I do think the different races should have more that separates them in gameplay also, if only in the form of how they hold the job specific weapons and such. That might actually make some unpopular races more popular.
For all intents and purposes you could also make it an optional toggle or such.
No Arcadion takes? It has the worst series of music in the game bar none and the characters are cringy, intent notwithstanding.
With the upcoming "You can make twink Ganondorf out of a Midlander" updates, my hot take is that any argument of "We can't add {Race} because it breaks lore!" is flying out the window. Obviously I don't fault the devs for wanting to take a break (permanent or otherwise) from new racial animations etc, I am specifically talking about the players who cite things as breaking lore.
Think the 20 separate Dancing Green cosplayers at NA fanfest dancing together on the dance floor minigame enjoyed the cringe quite a lot.
Actually, I really missed Final Fantasy slipping in such cornball stuff. Having a fully fleshed out side quest series that basically us taking on am elaborately themed wrestling league with shockingly high production quality for what it is? That's FF. Every game had wacky stuff like that.
Another recent one is in FFVII Remake having Cloud enter of bar entirely filled with bald people singing about how great being bald is.
It can't ALL be in Hildibrand, and it wasn't always that way.
Tell me you've never watched Entertainment Wrestling without telling me you've never watched Entertainment Wrestling.
The real travesty is how off the mark the EN dub version of the announcer is.
I don't know what they were aiming for with it. Its nothing like anything in wrestling ever. Its just weird and out of place.
Also I seriously can't forgive them for ruining the M12S phase 2 transition and changing "OH MY GOODNESS" to "Snakes Alive!"
Subs & airships need to be completely removed from housing. Make a workshop instance in Mor Dhona or something easily accessible in the base game, and let existing workshops be transferred to the new one.
And now for the real hot take, that workshop instance should be available for all players, not just FCs. As it is now, there are plenty of people who have worked loopholes to own multiple FC properties and have become sub/slum lords. Those things print money (hello RMT source!). Offer it up to everyone. If SE is concerned about an influx of gil amongst players causing inflation, perhaps they should really look into the busted system of subs. :P
And for the scorching hot take, people who already own multiple FC homes on 1 account should be forced to give them up and have only one. Is your FC dying and leadership passed to your alt, but you're already owner of another FC & house? That's a shame, house is going to demo.
I've got a light one today...
White Stone Black is one of the best boss themes in the entire game, and more people should recognize this.
XIV Hot Take.
They should only make limited job content up to level 80 and after finishing the final job quest you unlock the limited job's evolved mode for use in all other forms of content.
If Wuk sounded the exact same but was voiced by a cis woman the discourse surrounding her would be dead by now and wouldn't have gotten nearly as bad as it did.
DT might be one of the worst written stories (with one of the worst lead characters) I've come across.
Another thought, Warrior job may be somewhat overpowered.
Moon/Glass Planet/Aussie & 4th planet can use a captcha check every 1-2 hours. Succeeding gives an ample buff for next 5 missions. Failing 3 times in a row teleports you back out to Bestway Burrow.
I don't think I'm understanding this one. Is CE constantly stuffed on Aether? Is it botted? Just looking for a nice 5-mission buff (which I'd never say no to lol)? :X
I've only had the joy of experiencing CE on Dynamis and Primal, so my experience my be different.
I think the world's lore, and the game's writing style, became less interesting with Shadowbringers (and stayed that way in Endwalker and Dawntrail).
Not sure if it's a hot take or not, but "bring my all to bear" is a grossly overused NPC phrase.
Crafting is straight cheeks in this game.
ARR introduces countries with genuine problems without solutions that we're forced to navigate as a greenhorn, while Tural already had all the interesting political and societal stuff mostly resolved by Galool Ja Ja years before we arrive while we enter with our hard earned reputation as the godslayer that saved everything.
Tural in general got absolutely shafted as a region for story and lore.
Which is funny because for as much as we're told GJJ has been a great leader for the past 80 years unifying Tural, we see that literally everyone [outside Tuliyollal] has been absolutely miserable (Mamook especially, so much for a blessed sibling to be on the throne, eh?)
7.0 not only utterly sucked at "show, don't tell" with its ideologies being as subtle as a jackhammer on a sunday morning, but what we see and what we're told often contradict eachother, and all that only to be dropped after lv 97 when the MSQ and post MSQ shifts to be entirely about Alexandria anyway.
Tural deserved better, so much better. it was done dirtier than Ala Mhigo despite having far more to offer.
For a new one...
Stories where WoL is a minor character are simply better, WoL's entire existence is a narrative catch 22, to create compelling character-driven narratives, it is necessary to define connections and a past, but specifically because people are so attached to their characters, something YoshiP has repeatedly and openly acknowledged, anything that isn't what what they personally envisioned will drive complaints, those complaints ALREADY happen on a regular basis to the few established character traits WoL has, which makes them absurdly limiting as a main character in a narrative. This is LITERALLY the role of Azem, to give WoL those connections and past in an indirect manner, and they serve as a Schrodinger's character who is and isn't the WoL at the same, being the past life that any individual person can choose to embrace or reject. There may be an argument of who the main character should be then, but that's besides the main point that the WoL is best served as a powerful spectator that is there to ensure everyone else can get their happy endings.
Au Ra are genuinely repulsive to look at. I don't know what SE was thinking when they designed them.
14 has gone to high stakes too “sterile” world for want of a better term starting with ShB.
Like ShB had a good vibe to it but it certainly lacked the human element of conflict. In legacy->Sb you were often navigating cultures that had endless problems that couldn’t be fixed by punching something harder and what was seen by the WOL as the noble solution was often something someone else reviled.
Like think of the crystarium, what is its “flaws”? It’s a giant city and it’s basically a perfect utopia just because the story calls for a “good faction”
The story needs to bring back the gritty human element, that people are flawed, they will do the wrong thing, people will take advantage of a bleak situation to make others lives worse. People talk of DT being a Disney movie but really that design started in ShB
the game takes dozens of hours to really get good from level 1 combat wise. storywise its even longer, ARR is a slog.
Most of these are room temp takes, gotta say.
Here's mine: Outside of towns and camps, night music sucks, ruins the energy and I'd toggle it off if I could.
A more tepid take: Roulettes suck because there isn't a single job currently in the game that is good at all 100 levels other than maybe WAR.
People who chose Swift or Full Swing as your role action, in Frontlines, are cowards and dumb
A. Don't be a coward and run away with your tail between your legs. You want to be melee but too scared to actually melee
B. Outside of Secure memes, Full Swing does nothing for your team, compared to Rampart or Rampage
See, this is a good one because it actually enraged me somewhat

I adore the night time piano pieces. Lakeland's Unchanging, Everchanging is one of my favorite tracks in the whole game, and brings me very pleasant George Winston vibes.
