The way I see it, as long as it's not done by bots or fake accounts, it's not review bombing. Individual users are entitled to give whatever rating they want, there is nothing illegitimate about that.
If y’all’s goal was to make me feel like a dumb idiot and feel like shit then congrats you succeed. I don’t know what I did to deserve everyone posting these rude images and responses at me but from all the thumbs up I will take that as my cue to take my idiotic opinions and my dumb worthless self and eff off. All I did was disagree in a pretty civil way and gave my reasons why, I guess my stupid idiotic takes are so bad though that they don’t deserve a response. Thank you for all for putting me in my place.
Bye lolhttp://10char.png
Completely different conversation out of context, in which I explained myself and even acknowledge their points as holding weight. Definitely the same level as posting a crack pipe image and nothing else. Also it makes my weird that you are stalking me since that was like two days ago
It's really a bad look for them to be trying to purge negative reviews in general on top of banning people for reposting fair and structured reviews that were removed for no good reason.
How do you know I am the minority?
But yes that‘s what I mean. In my opinion no piece of art can be perfect objectively. That’s why I said that giving a score is always subjective in one way or the other.
People say a game is 10/10 for them as the same reason they say it is 0/10 for them, emotion. Both scores are extremes though and none of them is more realistic then the other. I think you are right that most games tend more to a 10 instead of a 0 but not more.
Saying an apple is perfect for someone is not the same as saying a game is perfect.
An apple is not a piece piece of art, that would be more say a dish made by a 5 star restaurant were the way it was served would factor in and how the sauce was put on the meat for example.
And you know what? There are also people who give scores for that professionaly.
User scores aside, we are looking at a rough critic score thus far. Doesn't bode well for future critic reviews. Could be the worst rated expansion for xiv ever.
Metacritic have removed over 200 negative reviews now if you're wondering just how bad this is.
Sure, a lot of the 0 reviews might be just "SBI, Square woke, Square bad!" type of comments. I won't argue that.
Mine however was a 4/10 review and not just one sentence or two, but a complete written out review in which I explained my reasoning for my rating. I read quite a bunch of those kind of reviews, some higher some lower rated than mine, with critiques that were more than justified. And many of those disappeared aswell.
So they just delete bad reviews no matter what they say, politically motivated or not.
I can confirm they (whoever do it) delete proper detailed negative reviews, not offensife ones. The actual score would be much much lower. They however leave all empty 10/10 reviews.
I think this is unacceptable.
No, I wrote a concrete 400 words full explanation, rating every part of the game from story, to the current extremes to dungeon design - deleted.
They just delete 0 scores regardless of content.
I also created a review with a different account a view days back giving it a 10/10 writing "I think this game sucks but here is a 10 just because"
To test if they delete bad reviews, that one was not deleted, shockingly.
It’s not just 0 they removed, people above were saying how they gave 4 or around and got removed.
The actual criticism is removed
There's no reason to assume new critic reviews will trend differently. Literally none.
Granted there's no reason to assume these 4 perfectly represent future reviews. But 60 or less scores being there means either the expansion merits average to low scoring or that one critic is just an anomaly. If only a handful of critics agree with them, the xpac stays the lowest rated. Enough 60 scores will bring it down even if the shills spam it with 100s, which it's looking like no one even has the courage to do thus far.
Literally 1984.
Make sure your review contains the following duckspeak.
"Media literacy, mentor, vacation, low-stakes, world-building"
I love the reviews that are like "Erm, these ignorant chuds forget this was supposed to be a low-stakes adventure, they're just mad we didn't save the world!" As if we didn't literally save every single reflection from Sphene at the end. They are literally self reporting that they didn't even play the entire expansion before reviewing it.
Heh, I think people are realizing the removed reviews. Here is a way-back from July 9th with 705 user reviews.

This unfortunately, I have to say "dude, trust me". Perhaps you can cross check me with the same method above. But this morning, this was at around 640 user reviews with a score of about 7.6. Now, at the time of this writing, its back to 783 and a score of 6.9.

I'm all for free speech and review-bombing. If your product is good, any review bomb would be negligible. I'm interested in hearing of something good that was review-bombed to a considerable degree to no fault of the creator (so Helldivers 2 doesn't count).
Critic scores have bumped it up to 80 and 81 for PS5 and PC respectively. Looks like the gaslighting that everyone loves Wookie will continue.
Again, you are arguing that 60 to 85 scores, which are the majority of scores so far, are anomalies, based on nothing. It's far more prudent to assume we will see more scores in that range.
You seem to be arguing some kind of conspiracy theory like these websites went out of their way to rate the xpac average.
Just because you think it's a 100, in your heart, isn't evidence that critics will suddenly change course for no reason.
And this is still accurate even considering the new scores. The overall score barely raises because the scores are still divisive, as I predicted.
Added 5 new critic reviews (critic reviews from PC and all consoles will be included). Metacritic undeleted many reviews so the user rating dropped. Main post updated.
Well, apparently Metacritic just purged a ton of zero substance positive reviews because they seemingly realized it was a bad look to only be giving that treatment to the negative ones.
That's what strikes me as odd - the 0/10 reviews with proper critique only get posted as 0/10 (rather than the 5/10 they actually are) because leaving anything higer than 0 is not an effective way of conveying discontent with the expansion. There are too many blindly loyal fans just posting "10/10 loved it".
A 5 and a 10 still rounds to 7.5, something the expansion in my opinion isn't supposed to be scored at, and so the average score is inherently skewed.
And then the actual criticism gets drowned out by the people posting 10/10 just to spite the people posting negative reviews, because (according to them) you are not allowed to be critical of something you enjoyed playing before. This only increases the amount of polarising reviews and perceived bad actors. It's a sad cycle.
Frankly they should just filter all reviews with a NLP model, you either write it with substance or your review gets cut. We have the tech, CS majors literally are capable of doing this as an intern after their first year, there are so many NLP packages on Python and Python is a braindead language every first year learns nowadays.
This isn't a hard problem to solve, I hope they are not seriously doing this with manual labor.
Also you argued that the score will barely raise yet it has now risen from an 76 to a 81 after just a few more reviews. Which is 5 whole points. How does this not go against your entire argument that the score would stay around where it was?
Square Enix's strongest warrior.
I spent all of endwalker on here criticizing this game (Island sanctuary, job design, lack of content, etc). Some of us aren't extreme in either direction. You don't know crap about me pal. I'm seeing some of you people here who have been especially flagrant in multiple other threads quote replying people who like the expac to start an argument. And these anti-DT signatures I'm seeing are absolutely mega cringe.
