I was coming here to post it but now I'm glad everyone else has seen it. It's friggin hilarious LMAO.
EDIT: "An issue wherein the gunbreaker PvP action Rough Divide was executable even when bound."
The only added patch note at the known issues part that has been added about GNB's.... and IT'S NOT EVEN AN ISSUE?.... You're supposed to be able to use gap closers when bound... Also the whole section for pvp that's supposed to list all the changes to pvp has just a link referencing the job guide page. So they're basically getting a bit lazier at this point and aren't even gonna bother giving us notes that says change went from this to THIS type deals. They're just saying "just go to the thing and check that for whatever you wanna know" for some of this. Lord have mercy I just want my old SFX back that never deserved a change to begin with...
This is so freaking frustrating. The sound effects issue was a little funny before, because I thought they'd go further into fixing them, but this is ridiculous. Effects this low in quality don't belong in the game, and they're really going to do or say nothing about the matter.
There is, unfortunately, no change to the sound for Gunbreaker.
This just remember me to much SB era when all DRK feedback was ignored, oh wait GNB is mostly played by old DRK mains, we are Doom.
Now they do because of the damn change, prior it was probably the only way any melee could deal with bind though.... ESPECIALLY when a WAR tugs you down, even if that's not technically "bind" as the status. You shouldn't be able to move with WASD etc but dashing with your skills made sense as a counter means in pvp. Anyways, we're off track with this...
Yeap.. still no fucking change.
Movement skills always were restricted if bound, be it gap closer, jumps, etc...in PvP as well as PvE. And besides, the issue is only about Rough Divide. The other skills work as intended, they weren't "changed".
Just look at at a 5 month old description of Plunge.
Revolution continues then. Even if i will be the last person, i will not give up. Time to spam their twitters. What # shall we use? #fixGNBsfx?
Edit
And also remember, daily in game suggestions. I can do this all day. I will try to save that job from their awful ideas.
You know the funny thing is at least for Male Lalafell the GNB walk/run was changed with this patch. It doesn't look like we glide on the floor anymore.
The sound effects didn't change though.
As far as the original sounds were concerned I didn't have an issue with them. To be honest, I don't have that big of a beef with the new sounds either. But I wouldn't mind having the old ones back. The sound equalizer feature they just added does helps a bit though. I changed mine to be more treble focused and to me, everything sounds better, even if it's subtle in some areas. Does that fix the issue being discussed here? Probably not. But any improvement is better than none in my opinion.
Lmao, I should've known nothing would change. Even if they came out and at least addressed it with a "no we're not changing it back" that'd be better than absolutely nothing. The whole situation really killed any motivation to even play this game. Finally had what I wanted, a gunbreaker class; and it sounded awesome. Now it sounds like garbage and I honestly just stopped playing the game all together.
I know someone is going to go "Durrr Higgie is being petty and quit the game because her favorite class changed sound effects!" It's not being petty. I wouldn't use the /laugh emote if it was Tidus' laugh or use the BRD class if the arrows sounded like machine gun fire. Sound design is very important and they really screwed this one up.
I wish they'd have the courtesy to take down the original job trailer video for Shadowbringers and replace the audio from Gunbreaker with the audio it currently has. Since, ya know, that's just false advertising at this point. "Wow that class sounds really cool!" Then they buy the game and feel ripped off because of misleading audio. Whatever.
I get it. I'm being bitter. But I went into Shadowbringers with the full intention to main GNB for this expansion, and didn't bother leveling any other classes to 80, and now I just can't be bothered to care at all. Maybe I'll start spamming Koji Fox on twitter or something, idk.
Join #fixGNBsfx on Twitter. I'm not going to give up.
I'm also very negative about current expansion. Lots of fun content, but overall combat is getting worse and worse extremely fast. First they butcher tanks and healers, 2 weeks after GNB sfx, now they slaughter all combat voices.
It's hard to say what is happening. They are out of touch with the community. Maybe they had some changes in sound design team and new members are extremely incompetent? Lack of control over sound design team? Maybe Yoshi also has bad taste as they?
I won't try to comprehend that because this whole situation shouldn't happen at all.
Time to also post on their Twitters. If they want "war", give them "war". If it grows to big enough scale media might catch it, and it will be perfect "ad" which might force dev team to act. I wanted to avoid this, but they are not giving us choice.
And remember - daily in game suggestions.
Sad thing is, I've sent multiple suggestions about this in too. The fact they won't give any answer at all is the part about this that really bugs the ever living hell out of me. At least if they say "no we can't do it, cuz blank". Fine, I'd take it, because at least you heard us and gave the effort to respond. Or "we didn't know this many people cared, we'll consider what we can do" even. Either kill my hope or let me rest easy that it's under consideration.. SOME form of mercy to the community. But no, nothing.
I am actually glad they gave a third voice to battle voices, makes less repetition in the pattern when I'd hear my char grunt certain ways. Also I have to agree, I'm not wanting to bully or do anything to this level to FFXIV's team, especially considering how good they normally are at delivering what the community asks for within reason... I feel like this has been well within reason and they haven't spoken a word about it. I don't even use twitter but I will for this if that's what it takes.
I feel that it might just be a bias of Yoshi P himself or someone else on the dev team as far as the sounds go, because I never saw anyone in-game or on the forums (or other sites) asking for the GNB sound changes. The change wasn't a deal breaker for me, but I wouldn't mind having the old sounds back one bit. So yeah, if people want change then they need to keep up the pressure in a civilized manner.
Since i agree about being civilized it's pretty hard keep the composture when they play the ignore card, i mean me for example im being on this forum since middle ARR, i saw SE use to treat the tank player base as a second rate customers or something like that since HW when WAR was insanely op and PLD underpowered the entire expansion and despite all the complains and feedback they did nothing about it, on SB with the acc problems and DRK underpowered state they complety ignored more than a year did barelly nothing about it excep poor made bandfixs, and now with WAR and DRK gameplay complains + GNB polemic sound change seems they are going to take a full expansion to address or even worse do nothing about it.
it really cost zero dedicate a min to give us a official answer on a live letter or just here in the foruns via moderator, something like "yeah we are looking about it meaby not ready next patch but for 5.x we could have something" or "we have no plans to adress this problem right now we apologize for not enjoying the changes", despite they say in the past they are listening (something i doubt judging tank role status and DRK rework and other stuff like healers) the thing is they choose do nothing about our complains/request and preffer remain silent instead of give us a clear no wich is worse in my opinion, talk to a wall it's pretty irritating and knowing SE they could easily take 2 full years before make the effor to move a finger and if they fail again... well to bad, now wait another 2 years for it.
That's why we have to keep up the pressure. They can't keep getting away with it. We need to annoy them to the point it's better for them to just fix it than pretend to be blind and deaf. And the best (and worst) thing is simple revert would solve the issue. Join #fixGNBsfx on Twitter. Party is just getting started.
i could say im use to it but you really never get use to it, i can understand don't say anything on small request that don't get support but bigger complains like WAR-DRK-GNB ones that get a lot of threats with tons of likes? at least GNB problem can be fixed any time but for stuff like DRK and WAR if they don't try to fix it on 5.2 then it's done and i will have to asume i wont be able to play my job until 6.0 if they don't make it even worse.
2 and a half months with the godawful SFX. Wheeeee!
Please, for the love of God, Square, revert the sounds. I've gotten used to the sounds, finally, but I would REALLY like to be able to hear what I'm doing in combat again, and actually enjoy the sounds while I'm at it.
Idk who they were, but during my runs of Hades EX earlier, I brought up the subject jokingly and a ton of people in it said "YES, GOD PLEASE CHANGE THEM". So.... yeah... SE please answer in some way?... Kill our hope and grant us mercy or let us rest easy with faith, it's been months of us basically praying on these forums.
That works to our advantage. Join #fixGNBsfx. I'm detecting actual movement there (beside my tweets). I think i will have to make "motivational topic" here to convince you all that this might work. If they don't want to do it the peaceful way, we will do it the hard way.
I created a twitter solely to help spread this hashtag. So, i'll do what I can every other day, and continue with ingame suggestions. I just want gunbreaker to sound as it was promised when released.
They removed my topic. As you can see they are afraid of us. Yet i'm afraid people are not ready for any "big scale operation". The only thing that is left then is spreading awareness. It can't be forgotten.
Yeah, i know it's just a game but even F2P developers have better contact with community, and also know swords need some sort of slashing sounds.
Targeting devs personal social accounts it's not really a good option and i think it's ilegal here in the forum promote that kind of stuff so it's normal that has been deleted, still belive the dev team need to improve the comunication with the comunity, seems now the Game have a lot of Fame and subs they are on a state they don't care if what they do bother ppl, all being said this actitude is not new on for tanks.
I don't deny my plan was extremely childish but they really give us no choice. They will keep playing around with us until someone says "stop". My current plan is to simply spread awareness that GNB is broken on Twitter and here. I would also try Reddit but posting in r/ffxiv is asking for downvotes.
Really plenty of people are not aware how bad it is, but when they see comparison they understand what's wrong.
It's downvotes unless there's a meme attached to it anyways. Seeing the devil may cry meme about FFIV's GNB sounds change, plenty of the posts seem to agree that they need to go back. I agree that something needs to be done but I'm a little hesitant to "attack" developers. I think it'd be more productive to make side by side sound comparison videos similar to the one Very Merri had on his twitter.Something more accessible to show people so say "see?". Keep sending in suggestions, spread word on twitter and so on but I don't think threatening devs will get us anywhere... If anything, it's similar to getting DDoS'd. They don't want to let the people threatening/terrorizing their servers to know they're winning and concede. We just need to at most, let FFXIV's devs know there's a large community want for this change to revert back. Any way possible, but not spam/flood/hunt down developers during their off time not working inside a corporate building.
Threatening was definitely not the point. Problem is they already know community is not satisfied. They are now doing their regular thing - "sorry, we will try again in 2 years". Such thing is unacceptable. Either way i suppose our current plan is to simply spread the word. I still use the same #, but for different purpose. If we turn it into actual meme job, they might be at least ashamed of creating this... thing, so they might fix it then.
And i know they are getting flooded with feedback and suggestions about everything, but you don't need to have any qualifications to notice that blade shouldn't sound like a blunt weapon.
Asking fans of the game to contact the game devs on Twitter as we're ignored completely on the forums is harassment? Color me surprised.
I don't condone harassment and i will never harass anyone. They simply ignore very loud feedback for major issue, and as always they plan to absolutely ignore it, and they as always will get away with it. Because people accept mediocrity, and no one dares to tell them that this is not how you deal with problems.
Reminder to get on in-game suggestions daily. Also if you're able, get onto the #fixGNBsfx game on Twitter. We need voices because apparently threads like this did nothing to sway SE.
I would honestly send less suggestions. In the end everything targets community managers, who have nothing to do with this, and maybe even they agree that blade should sound like blade.
Keep it civilized, and just remind them that it's wrong and we are not going anywhere until it's fixed.
Of course also use Twitter. Remember it's about keeping pressure and spreading the word. No other valid strategy for now.
Unlocked GNB. Ran several dungeons. Feeling of wrongness when it sounds like i am hitting things with a wooden paddle never quite left. So, +1 to make it better.
If we had even a fraction of the folks who voted yes in the strawpoll, helping out on Twitter, I'm sure they would have to respond to all of the feedback asking things to be changed back.
Problem with official forum is that this is closed community. (Almost) Everyone knows that it sounds bad, developers just ignore it, and that's how it goes for now.
If we make #fixGNBsfx big and comment under official twitter (remember - be civilized), it can attract media. And they don't want everyone to know that they ignore feedback and can't make proper sound effects for a blade.
