Probably because there isn't much to be happy about. I'm not expecting much from this next expansion other than more story. And after getting 2 DPS last expansion, I was definitely looking forward to a new healer. The last time a healer was added to the game was 4 years ago. By the time the next expansion comes around, it will have been 6 years.

I was looking forward to Viera, but I'm quite sad that they didn't add male Viera. I thought we were beyond genderlocking after there was outcry about it in 1.0 and it was changed for 2.0. And "Ronso" are cool... but I would have liked to see female ones more than I would have liked to see the male ones. I also really disliked how their bodies looked in that reveal trailer, but that's beside the point.

And before you tell me to stop subbing, I haven't paid them a thing since January. The increasing amount of things these devs do that I dislike has greatly reduce the amount I'm willing to sub. I'm mostly here for the story. I won't go back to paying them more until they fix a lot of issues, which will probably never happen.

If you're not gonna support the devs and are unhappy with this game then why do you even play? That's completely unfair to attack or judge those because we support the company. So please if you don't support them or anything they do keep it to yourself and don't get mad at others who do.

That's a good thing. The less entitled players we have the better lol. At least the dev team won't waste resources trying to please them.

Okay... a part of the development team worked (most likely over time) on the glasses without YoshiP's knowledge just to please the fanbase, that just shows us once again how dedicated every member of the team really is. It's so great to have developers who actually care about the consumers wishes and have such pride and love for their own game and not think of us as pay pigs. A big thank you to each and everyone of them.

Is there really anything one should be "grateful" for when purchasing at product? I say complain away.... Based on the explanation we got, neither race should have been added and more customization for the existing races would have been a better development choice.

I mean, I won't disagree it's a weak excuse. Considering the physical ranged are NOT balanced. But maybe they're hoping adding DNC in there will fix that? I still think the reasoning behind the new job choices is questionable. If ranged DPS was a priority since it only has 2 roles why did it not get that new job in Stormblood instead of Shadowbringer? Instead we added a 3rd STR melee to make the jobs more unbalanced gear wise? It would have been 3 ranged, 3 melee and 3 casters. So we went from "WE NEED SAMURAI" to "we are using this job because the number is imbalanced" - yeah it's worse now because you made it that way lol.

I feel bad for machinist fans too since it plays nothing like it did in Heavensward. Unfortunately it feels like they are saying "we have no ideas so here is a new ranged job instead."

Probably because they didn't want to add another Ranged DPS job two expansions in a row. Before someone says "but Caster did it with RDM and BLU" no, BLU doesn't count.

Yes... Cause PAYING CUSTOMERS that agree with what the devs do 100% of the time, should be the only ones that allowed to post here. And if I buy a product, it is completely fair to judge the product that they sold to us, that was paid for with MY money. And it's not my fault your bar of video game standards is set insanely low... And saying that people are attacking the devs is kinda hypocritical too, considering the dev's blind defenders attack anyone that dare critise their decisions..

If your really that miffed then stop playing....end of story.

People seems to forget that our player numbers are not that big (~650k) on all servers and the all devs team are all Japanese, they dont have huge international team working on the game. Knowing their culture I'm sure some of them haven't slept in a while, working to bring you the headgears on the new races, while finishing preparations on new expansion.
I really love how on one topic people complaining about devs not bringing them "quality content" and on other saying to new players that they should go play another MMO.
SE will milk this game in this state, this is not Yoshi-P fault that 1.0 was disaster and Squares want their money back, game needs to have at least half of WoW numbers and attention from all over the world so Square Enix will invest more money in this game. If that wont happen, well, we will still have limited jobs, races, limited amount of storage etc. Just look at numbers, Japan region have almost the same amount of players as NA have, EU is basically have half of it.

You think WoW is manually modifying 10k gear assets when they introduce a new race? The devs that only recently started incorporating 3D elements into gear that for years was just painted on textures that stretches (sometimes horribly so) to fit whatever race was wearing it (most recently chest pieces and legs. and a few years ago it was belts)?

That hasn't gone back and updated the horribly pixelated gear from early in the game's life?

And they manage to not do gear to the same quality level AND lack the consistent cadence this game has.

Or maybe we should consider GW2 who...oh wait, they've never actually added a new race. Oops.

I think you've severely overestimated what other MMOs are doing with their gear model work.

You're confusing the current gender locking, which is a logistics issue impacting their decision to fit two races and thus fulfill two disparate desires, with the earlier genderlocking of 1.0, which was an aesthetic choice.

They have moved past the reasoning used in 1.0 for genderlocking.

I'd also love to see some proof of this outcry, cuz I certainly don't remember it. I remember people requesting the other genders. I do not remember an outcry. Certainly not like the current ones where the devs are called cowards and homophobes lol.

It usually takes a lot for him to personally post something in order to address controversial decisions, so the outcry must have been fairly substantial.

If adding races is such a logistics issue, they shouldn't have added any new races and instead have focused on making new, and better, faces for existing races.

Based on what Viera are... SE could have just made hi res bunny ears that hide standard racial ears.... the body models aren't anything special.

You have to take into account that NA and EU aren't the only players who wanted the other genders and/or wanted to hear about the state of healing. I only say this because that's probably the majority of the people who post on this particular subsection of the forums.

Oh, I don't disagree that everyone wants the other genders. However, there was no outcry over miqo being female only, and highlander and roe being male only in 1.0. There was a request post that was civil, and contained, and that was pretty much it. No huge outcry, no 50 million topics.


As for the healing thing, people won't be satisfied until a 4th healer is added. And if they had added one, people would be complaining just like during 3.0 when ast was terrible and then overbuffed. No one wins until the devs fix healers. Everyone says they had 2 expansions to do they. No they had 1, and they changed their minds on how to go about it after realizing they couldn't solve the issue the way things are now.

I'm all for hoping it'll happen! I hope it happens too, but I don't want this "Yoshi P promised!" nonsense coming back later. I'm glad he covered his bases here because people saying "Oh it'll happen in 6.0!" are setting themselves up for disappointment if it doesn't. And that's when people will start complaining again but he'll get to shrug and go "I told you not to expect it."

I was around on the old forums (doubt too many people remember those!) and I don't personally remember a huge outcry either. To be fair, I had tapped out of 1.0 pretty early on, but I did pop on the forums now and then, so it is something I could have missed.

There are alot of us who prefer mobile ranged dps classes. Until Machinist there was only one. And then they added the mage features to Bard so we still only had one until they fixed it. The melee dps classes are decidedly different play styles.

However, I am impressed by the dedication of the Dev Team. They so didn't need to do that since I know they are probably on crunch time trying to get Shadowbringers out, but they did it anyway.

With so many other horrible stories going on with other companies, seeing something like this just make me glad we have such a awesome team that truly loves what they are doing and are doing it for the fans.

Lol! I think that happened with Bard and Machinist when Stormblood started. Totally grey hotbars on log in are not an exaggeration. They did warn us a little right before the expansion came out. I'd expect the same thing for healers this time.
