I'll give some sage advice in return, then. If someone wanted a voice of reason in a hate thread, then it wouldn't be a hate thread. If you were observant enough to read the tags, then logic dictates that a shining beacon of tolerance and happiness is undesired. Dissect that for a moment and reflect. If you wan't to be butt-buddies with the RPers, then thats your Pierogi.

there are politer ways to say "i dont want to be on an RPist server" then the way some people are coming off though

I ma not be the biggest fan of RPists but it doesnt mean ima insult them at every turn i can

If I recall correctly, it was a request thread, not a demand thread. And that the first several pages were players bashing on rpers, and not the other way around. Maybe that was a different thread one of us read.

Actualy, the OP of that other thread has a bad habit of being the worst representative of the RP community you can have posting topics. He likes to flame and bash anyone who doesnt fully agree with him.

Case in point, i pointed out(in my first post there) that i thought we didnt need an official server cuz the unofficial stance gives a better community and a better population for RPists.
Thereofre, in his eyes im a troll and should be burned and he got all mad and butthurt and has insulted me the whole thread because of it.

I guess I must have read a different thread then, or didn't read far enough in. Nonetheless, these debates of rp or not rp are ridiculous. I don't understand why people can't just "live and let live." I don't rp, but I walk around town sometimes and /em things. I can understand people being mildly annoyed by rp, but then again I have to question why they play an mmorpg... I'm not saying anyone should take up rping, but I don't understand the ridiculous hate...

i agree, its not that hard to do

at this point most of the arguement seems to be just about arguing for the sake of arguing, a few of us are trying to have somewhat a discussion still but both sides(i wont name names but they know who they are) are so into fighting that they wont allow it


like my idea at this point, or my stance, RP is ok, always has been
if you want Balmung to stay the RP server it MUST be unofficial
if you want an official server it must be a brand new server(like the EU server)

the reasoning is simple, it is unfair to the non-RP community to force them into an official server that they do not want to be on.

and if one side has to transfer, it should be the side asking for the server who has to transfer, after all, it is their request and they should be the ones to make the hard choice of staying with friends or going with the RP crowd.


of course, i still get bashed for this stance too, since after all, the ones who dont like it feel they should be allowed to have their cake and eat it too(get their server, and not have to move) and dont consider anyone else in that equation

Vocal Minority tends to refer to a minority of people in a group who just happen to be the most vocal in said group.

I also think that people like Issachar are a vocal minority.

I think the vast majority of people on FFXIV as a whole don't care if someone RPs

I never claimed to be otherwise. As strong as my stance is against it, I'm still the 1%. I don't feel entitled for even a moment.

I only hate the elitist, self-absorbed roleplayers (or any minor group for that matter) that thinks everyone should accomodate their wants and needs, lest be accused of bigotry. You know, the ones who say "Non RPers are trash", "The EU got their own server, how dare you not give us one!!111" (I lol'd at that one), or such. And no amount of self-important lecturing will make me feel otherwise.

In contrast, I'm perfectly okay with most of the RPers on Selbina. Probably because they are actual decent, open-minded people...unlike certain other RPers in this thread. If you take enough offense just by me saying that, then you are the cancer.

Others may not know, but I know you have an agenda by saying this and that is your shell Abaddon. You'd have to be really really naive to think that the best thing for Abaddon is moving it to a weird server so your presenting an image of not caring to smooth drama over. My shell TwoPaths, we are gone.. we have the ability to move and I'm not going to take the risk of "maybe besaid isn't so bad". Perhaps this works for us because we are just more tight knit than your shell.. I don't know. Sorry.. don't mean to cut you down or single you out but that's whats behind the scenes.. that's why all the Fabul LS leaders are up here.

A lot of our shells on Fabul share members, maybe instead of hoping things are ok, why don't you get with the other leaders and plan to go somewhere else en-mass?

I find it sad that people think they need to "evacuate" the server because of the merge.... have you ever played with any of the people on the other server? Have you just meet a few bad RPers? or are you just basing all this off what you hear?

Ohhhhhh. RPists! I get it now! It's been bugging me why some people use that instead of RPers.

There's pretentious, ignorant, and/or arrogant people on both sides of any issue. RPing is no exception. Besaid, like all servers, has your typical middle ground of players. It also has the most casual of casuals, and the most hardcore of hardcore.

They're called extremes.

To anyone reading something on an internet forum:

Keep in mind when you read an opinion about any topic/view/person(s) that it's a very select view who will actually view said conversation, even more specifically those who choose to comment, based on their degree of passion about something they've read. That being said, though this has gone on for 23 pages, it is in no way, shape or form, an accurate representation of anti- or pro-RP, because, at the end of the day, 200+ posts from approximately 100 different people from generally 5 different servers, only make up about <10% of the FFXIV population.

Sometimes I wonder how I can tolerate reading some threads all the way through, but then I get to the end and remember what a hilarious misadventure this topic has been.

I made that Bio for fun, back when I started testing the game..... it took me 5 mins, hell I don't even remember what it said, been so long since I looked at it. You really took my Bio way to seriously.
