What exactly IS a White Mage?

I wouldn't compare it to Cure III in this context because, even though Cure III and Star would heal for comparable values, the goal is minimize GCD usage which also means minimize Cure III usage. And even then, that wasn't the context for my comment either, but I'm sure you understand that based on your own comment.

I will admit, even though WHM is perceived to have a higher HPS potential it really isn't, sadly. More versatile throughput, yes; but lacks raw output like SCH and AST does :/ Something that should also be corrected in 5.0 I feel.

I also wonder why ppl still think WHM is the king of dungeons? The speedrun records are all held by AST as their choosen healer, after the insane buff to Lightspeed no longer lowering the potency of skills the gravitiy + LS combo is insanely good for fast aoe bursts to quickly decimate a group of mobs.

They have some of the highest aoe bursts in the game as of now, specially when combined with a mind potion + cleric stance. (obviously every healer can use that combo but for AST quick use of aoe they get a higher dmg output during the short duration of the buffs)

While Holy still has the best mitigation of dmg through stuns, that is no real concern in a normal expert roulette as most tanks have learned to use their CD's for big pulls. For some the stun from holy spam is more of a downside then benefit as DRK loses their mana given from blood price to be able to keep their aoe's up during the pulls.

Im not a Meta healer anymore as im staying away from most savage content in stormblood, but I always enjoyed WHM for its diverse setup for dungeons. To me WHM in 4.5 is a slow casting healer with nothing going for it other then big numbers on heals and a large number of panic buttons.

You chose to use the synced catagory, which states in its rules "Must be alone in the party" these are the Duty Roulette runs and thus the AST wasn't chosen, they just happened to be there. You need to use the Synced Coop tab which watches parties of 2 or more.


There haven't been any premade runs of The Burn or Ghimlyt posted to SR, but here is Saint Mocianne's Arboretum (Hard) with a WHM

That group also ran Hells' Lid and Bardaam's Mettle. The runner you posted did a Thousand Maw's Run with AST, and Castrum Albania with a WHM. There is also a Fractal Continuum HM run done with a SCH.


WHM is the most represented in premade groups on the site, but the data is insufficient as there is only a small group of people posting times to Speedrun, I have on good sources that the Burn is down to 9:21 with a SCH (And even that run is 5 months old)

That clears things up abit Kayokane, also now we have the new table for WHM spells, however alot changed in the early weeks of stormblood so we cant say if all potencies will stay roughly the same. My guess is that the red lily aoe with 900 potency will be nerfed to 750 potency sometime down the road.

Because nerfing an underwhelming skill makes sense... unfortunately, knowing the devs I can actually see that happening. At the same time as a major SCH and AST DPS boost, rendering WHM's entire 'biggest pDPS'-identity moot.

More than likely. Assize could still potentially lose its damage potency as well. Maybe in the same patch.

Also, I'm serious with my assumption that WHM will not keep that 'highest pDPS'-slot for very long... since that's exactly what happened in Stormblood, too.

I'm a little sad that I can see that as well. Luckily considering anyone can see Misery is 25% weaker than just using 4 Glares on those GCDs instead, thus making Misery only useful in dungeon boss openers (assuming trash pulls last 90s, and you don't burn the lily for the AoE damage boost) and fights that are very movement heavy making glare uncastable without burning a swift cast or playing chicken with boss cast bars. Hopefully they don't, but looking at SCH... I labour to get my hopes up.
