What's the difference between getting to level 70 now as opposed to one day later? You get to brag to your friends about it one day earlier? Everything would still be there and would be the same if you got them a week from now. I'm dying to try out the new skills too but at the same time, I understand the gravity of the current situation. I can wait a few days to test all the new shiny skills. Complaining every minute isn't going to help SE find a solution faster.

Every second Yoshi spends responding and explaining is a second not spent on finding the solution.

12 hours since server up. 8 hours since this band aid of a fix was put in. The pile keeps getting bigger by the second. Bring the servers down, fix the problem. Its a brand new expansion, if a single resource has been spent on anything but fixing the FREAKING MSQ its misplaced effort.

While some people are overreacting, the devs aren't without fault here. It's downright idiotic they put an instanced quest less than an hour into the MSQ. This was inevitable since practically everyone is doing the MSQ to unlock stuff. Had they pushed it off 3-5 hours in, we wouldn't be having nearly the same issues.

To be fair, this sort of thing should have been expected. It's happened before, after all - and increasing the power of the instance servers temporarily would have helped to mitigate the problem in advance. Now the developers are going to have a lot of unnecessary work to deal with.

hilariously, if you do all the sidequests and other storyquests before that one, it is 3-5 hours in. They just don't know how to handle the load of their customers.

What some people don't immediately realise is that it's also causing problems in other instanced content. I did a Baelsar's Wall run for a break and some exp, yet we had a massive lag spike before the final boss. Our healer dc-ed and amazingly managed to come back quickly, not before we wiped though.

Literally, as I type this, I'm sitting in a queue 1300+ long for the third time tonight, because I dared to do Frontline roulette as an alternative! There was a mass dc right at the start of it where I saw at least half of the alliance disappear before it hit me too. It's not acceptable and it's very frustrating, but there's ultimately NOTHING we can do as a playerbase.

Honestly, just stay away from instanced content of any kind. Save yourself the stress and if it's getting to you, simply walk away. It's not worth all of this heartache.

It was very stupid of them to have a solo instance this early into the MSQ. It takes no time to reach it and everybody funnels in and congests the instance. The ones that rushed are the ones that managed to skip this nonsense because they got through it before the mob reached it.

Simple solution: implement a queue for MSQ solo duties. There's never any good reason to not expect this congestion on launch.

Do the simple math ahead of time. This is the thing that makes the angriest about this dev team. They design like the sky is the limit and the player base suffers. Housing not enough resources, inventory not enough resources. If you don't have enough resources plan for it.

Also how do you know they are working on it, because they released a statement. Did they pull everyone out of bed make them all drive back to the office? This isn't a bug. They need to come up with something outside the box. We have never had ques for instanced combat before. They going to roll instances over to MSQ and screw all other content? That is why they capped it because that was what was happening this morning when I couldn't do war quest.

I finally got in and then I dc'd. :/

It's like 1.0 all over they can't be trusted to be reliable. It's SE they have the resources.

Know what? I deserve this. Logging in this morning, I didn't complete the whole story in 3.5. But I managed to get into the Omega instance. There went my luck. Oh well. Such is life, eh?

For real tho, why God why not have a few more talk quests then a dungeon? Hahaha

There was never not a mob. From 2am to 7am no instances worked at all, and by 7am when they fixed it everyone was caught up and there was a mob. Most of the people who have gotten through are just the ones who got lucky clicking through and skipping the cutscene for hours on end.

No. The ones that shot through the MSQ (ignoring everything else) this morning and did the instance before going to the second area got through pretty easily.

Wow! That's a really good idea! I wonder why SE hasn't done something like this in the past?! Oh! Wait! they have! It's called "Hall of the Novice"! A solo instance with a queue! Imagine that SE! You had the solution in front of you but were too dumb to implement it!

nah it's literally their fault. They make the game, and already have people's money for the preorder. It's not at all unreasonable for us to expect compensation considering most of the content isn't in any way accessible to a majority of paying customers.

I do expect issues. Hence why I actually didn't take any time off because nothing ever goes smoothly with these things and at the very least I expected a lot of DC's etc in the first 10-20 hours of the drop. However this issue was totally foreseeable and a solution will need to be found fast because its a problem that will only compound the longer it goes on.

This was an easily predictable issue, it should also be an easily fixable problem. It is SE's fault, not the player-base because they're excited about the expansion. SE has massive experience with MMO titles and should be able to predict these issues. They should understand the weaknesses of their server architecture, and don't be mistaken their server architecture is trash. This problem is representative of SE not properly investing in their server architecture and not paying enough attention its weakness.

Bugs occur, this isn't a bug. Servers crashing occurs, this isn't that either. This is a massively foreseeable issue. It cannot be understated how predictable this was. SE doesn't deserve defense here.

People are having the reactions they are because this is *not* a bug. This is terrible design, that anyone should have realized just looking at it.

One should not funnel their entire playerbase through an instanced quest zone at exactly the same moment (Which is what is happening, due to the quest being so early in the expansion), then insist that the players just try again later as a solution to the problem.

Ya know I did take off work, but that's beside the point. I do think SE cares about there players more than others but someone somewhere dropped the ball. Someone in SE had to know full well how many Pre-orders there were and how much load there server could take. It's about planning ahead. Simply put they didn't. I find that in most cases it is do to game companies not hiring enough people that think outside the box or their employees get stagnant in their outward thinking.

Most people just wanna try out the new classes but can't even get that far...:mad:

I'd love to learn how many instances they reserved for Cold Steel. By doing some rough math, my server currently needs 600+ clears of that MSQ at this very moment, just to empty the zone. Thats not including all of the other people who have given up or have not arrived yet.

On Moogle I waited in a line for hours and took another hours to spam click Raubahn at the end..still have not managed to go into this. So 1. its not only Balmung or the Japanese players that do such a thing and 2. it did not help at all..(and lets not forget that there will be always people that will not wait in line) Its so frustrating because this is no bug..this is simply a bad decision..they already had old data from HW so they should have known that many people will buy EA (heck this will probably also happen at launch day..) thus they should not have done a solo instance so early.

I was on since one hour after servers went up yet I took my time. Around the same time they posted that instances are not truly working so I could not do the quest for the samurai. (Can someone tell my why we are only allowed to open those boxes in a city? -.-) Yet I still took my time since I did not want to rush the story. I talked to every NPC, saw the mass of people at Raubahn so I did the other part of the quests..went around the map and was kinda punished for this because now even more people were on and most of them stuck on that quest. So anyone that rushed through this might have had a bigger chance...so much about taking your time..and now the weekend awaits with even more people on that are all needing the MSQ to gain any access to SB and then you will have launch day too..ugh now my head and arm hurts and I havent done much even though I played since the start of EA...how can you not see that happening with all the old numbers and preorders?

And instead of feeling happy about the new expansion I now only wish to be able to kill Raubahn (poor him) and to ask Yoshida himself why they thought this was okay? (Man this is going to be so nice to all those people that bought a story skip potion :'D, all that money only to have no chance to progress..well at least this happened to nearly all players)

They need to increase the people being let in, like now. If it crashes the servers, deal with it then. At this rate the people waiting wont be done till the 20th. FIX. THE. PROBLEM.

can anyone help me with the previous quests to this? I realized that if I kill imperials I'm just as bad as them. I tried reasoning with them but they just stab me. does anyone have a method of progressing msq that will let me keep the high ground? I don't wanna be some kinda SJW of Light </joke>

Then let them crash. Frankly bring everything down and devote all resources to fixing the issue instead of this. Theyve now had over 12 hours and the matter has only gotten worse every minute.

I'm.... just giving up.... going to take Yoshi's old advice and go play another game. So much for the fun of early access.
