Yea only think one person that made the $200 comment but as far as the people calling people cheap/poor extends outside the forums into the game itself. Seeing people make shouts like that, whether they just being a troll or being serious idk but I've seen it going on.

I think some people are blowing this slightly out of proportion. Yes, this mount is 30.00USD, but that is hardly indicative of a trend or general rule; most things in the Mog Station are between 2.00USD~12.00USD. This mount--which caters to a pretty specific aesthetic sensibility to begin with--has no effect on one's ability to "win." Furthermore, for those who consider the accumulation of mounts to be an achievement, this one shouldn't bother you because the people who have it didn't "earn it" in the same way that you earned your ponies or your lanners. If you've collected all the in-game mounts through toil and dedication, you still have all the mounts that "matter" with regard to your strut n' swagger.

As follow up, does everyone feel this strongly about: the fat chocobo(s), the griffon, the Couerl? How about the draught chocobo? Ceremony Chocobo? Should none of them exist either? They all require effort/cost outside the standard sub.

i feel the same way about all of those, but not as strongly because it's not as much and some/most come with other stuff.

the worse is Sleipnir because it denied an obvious reward to actual playable content.

in all honestly, 15 dollars a month is poop change for most companies, thats why they like having cash shops. Cash shops 99% of the time make far more money then a sub based game does.

Your $30 contribution will go far to help support our development staff in future content related endeavors.

Please look for ward to TWO new sets of tomestones, unfortunately we will also have to reduce expert roulette to only one dungeon.

Jynx is right. You can agree or disagree with the cash shop without resorting to that kind of nonsense. The best case you can make to a company is with your wallet.

We're talking about business model and it's something that involves players choices and how they deal with it. You may be offended with some concepts that will talk about certain types of players but it is the only way to have a discussion like this.

Exactly. We obviously have language and cultural barriers but it's not like japanese players do not have critical sense and only criticize things that "should be criticized" and that's why SE listens to them.

Thank you. Giving feedback is "I don't like this practice, it hurts the health of the game." Which they said, then they attacked players after that so its effect was lost.

We pay a sub so this would have been BETTER SE if this mount was unlocked in the game as a reward for completing some content (and especially when some people are complaining about the lack of content with the last patches) and not a mount to buy (and that expensive) via MogStation...

I will NOT buy it because I don't want to encourage this.

That's not what I'm reading. I'm seeing four groups of people.

1) People who don't like the cash shop and are saying so (more)
2) People who don't like the cash shop and are ridiculing other people (fewer)
3) People who use the cash shop and seem a-okay with it (includes me for what it's worth - I'm looking forward to breaking this bad boy out when I get home). (more)

This is a fairly good summary I think. Obviously opinions vary on the matter, but I'd love if we could drop out groups 2 and 4 as neither side is helping the discussion.

Trading the future of the game for a vanity item to brag about. Because they belive, the money the spend on the vanity item is somehow invested back into the game.

The only way this game will ever develop further is when subscriptions drop and people stop feeding SE money. As they are now, they have absolutely no incentive to keep developing the game, the player base is steady, the cash shop works wonder to get the company extra money and the subscription probably is funding other projects/meeting investers expectatives while the dev team is basically doing "what they can with what they have".

And heres one of those doom and gloomers blaming people who buy stuff on the cash shop for the games inadequacies. Cash shop additions are few and far between. and they have added more mounts to the game per each single mount added to the cash shop lol.

But no, anyone who uses the cash shop is bad and should feel bad, wahh.

For the record, I havent purchased any of the cash shop mounts. I just dont think its as big of an issue as people make it out to be.

Its not a mount or several mounts for that matter.

Is the very existence of the cash shop itself. People paying whatever they belive a mount is worth isn`t an issue. That there is a mount outside the game you can pay for is the issue.

I've played all types of MMO's. P2P, B2P, F2P, P2W, Private Servers, with and without cash shops, etc. With FFXIV I have no problem with Mogstation as long as it stays vanity/non Pay to Win. Time's change and I've accepted that. I have a line I hope SE does not cross, and from what we've seen, they're still pretty far away from it.

EXCEPT they just added 3 new mounts in the game, obtainable ONLY BY PLAYING THE GAME. This ONE cash shop mount doesn't say much.

If the friend sticks around for at least that long or pays for that length of time up front. Many players either don't know anyone who would be interested in an mmo or are already playing with everyone they know who would be interested. That's why we have a sticky thread around here specifically for swapping friend recruit codes, and even then that's still going to be a gamble depending on how long a stranger stays subscribed. Many have gone as far as to buy a second copy of the game + sub time when it was first implemented just to get the mount.

Anyhow, I tend to agree with this person on the subject;

I must be the only person who finds this mount to be ugly. I'm not going to buy it (in fact, the only thing that I've purchased from the Mog Station was a name change and a fantasia potion).

But it's okay. I'm not going to deride anyone who likes the mount and have got it, or are going to get it. Enjoy your mount. Be happy with it. That's all that matters.

I refuse to spend money on mounts (or anything cosmetic for that matter) when I already subscribe to the game. Free to pay, maybe if I got a bonus on my paycheck, but man... every time I see someone flying around with a paid mount, I'm like, "You know, we used to win stuff like that from actually playing the game...".

No, it has to be encouraged so people stops this problem. Only reason this cash shop exist its cause it was asked for in the first place.

Not to mention, it reduces the value of the paid subscription, you are getting less, even if its just a mount, content for your monthly fee than before. Not to mention this will continue, and with each "success" this cash shop has, less are we getting into the game itself.

Clearly they were suppose to release at the same time but SE wanted to see if the moogle would sell at $30 first if it sells then the fenrir will go for $30 or it doesn't sell and they go back to a fair price :P
