Yeah, well, no thank you. Definitely not gonna take part in this campaign and maybe even let my sub run out, 'cause this is getting absolutely ridiculous.

I sincerely hope that you guys learned your lesson, there are quite many other european countries (mine included - Czech players still waiting for their stuff) waiting for the promotional event.
I like you and don't mind giving you second chance, but we deserve same treatment as JP and NA players and I expect you to deliver.
After having a look more into this Game Master magazine and their parent company...
Yeah, no thanks. I have quite a few friends in my FC who live in the EU and they're not happy about this... 'promotion'.
Now before those who support this, attack/flame me... I'm Australian and while we may get a different 'promotion' when SE decides how to do it for us, I just hope they don't go with a company with a bad rep like Future Publishing (Or ClickandBuy... I remember the debacle over the payment method for XI when SE decided to jump in bed with this company...).
Taken from the wiki page:
... While companies have a lot of needed things to do, this just sounds very fishy to me. Just like Clickandbuy and good ole' Electronic Arts. We shouldn't have to send a photo in for this 'promotion'. JP gamers didn't (yes, I know they bought the drinks in person at 7/11...), NA gamers didn't either. So why are the UK gamers gated behind all this rigmarole? Also... does this mean that the rest of the world (Australia included) will have to do something similar or worse if we want them? It just doesn't seem like the people who thought this idea up, really had a good hard think about it.Quote:
In 2007 the State of Texas filed a lawsuit against Future plc for violating the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.[5] The lawsuit alleges that the Future plc owned website GamesRadar "failed to include necessary disclosures and obtain parental consent before collecting personal information from children."[6] The owner of the other websites settled in March 2008,[7] though the final disposition against Future PLC is not public record.[8]
In November 2009, Future reported a fall in profits from £9.5 million to £3.7 million (a loss of 61 percent) in the fiscal year that ended 30 September 2009. Future attributed this to problems with their US market, hit by a fall in the general advertising market.[2]
In March 2010, Future announced that it was exploring the possibility of reviving its GamesMaster brand on television. The video games show had run from 1992 until 1998; the spin-off magazine continues to be published.[9][10]
The company has been in process of shuttering print media properties in favor of digital media, closing many titles and selling off others. In January 2012, Future sold its U.S. music-media brands, including Guitar World and Revolver, to New Bay Media LLC for $3 million.[11] In April 2013, it completed the sale of major components of its UK media-music brands for ₤10.2 million to Team Rock Ltd.[12] In September 2013, Future announced it would cut 55 jobs from its UK operation as part of a restructuring to adapt "more effectively to the company's rapid transition to a primarily digital business model."[13] The company announced in March 2014 that it will close all of its U.S.-based print publications and shift US print support functions such as consumer marketing, production and editorial leadership for Future's international print brands to the UK.[14] Later in 2014, Future sold its sport, craft, and auto titles.[15]

While there has been a response from SE regarding this (earlier post), not much was really said tbh... just paraphrasing what already has been said. All the negativity generated so far, has to show SE that there's something seriously wrong with this 'promotion'. To all you white knighters who support this... Good for you. Keep on believing that everything's fine... because it obviously isn't... the previous comments in this single thread prove that!
Oh, I don't doubt that either. That price quote was more because NA players likely were already buying stuff from Amazon, thus the promotion was free for them. It wouldn't be fair to now charge EU players $12 for a mount the rest of us got for nothing, but I appreciate they can't just give them away. So a small price for EU seems like the best solution.
Throwing my hat in the ring saying I do not approve of the promotion. I appreciate an SE rep speaking up but it does not remedy the fact we have to be items we do not want. Compared to the NA promo where you had a large selection to choose from we have one option, a dying medium that contains information we could easily access online. It's not that we have to pay for the item, it's not that we have to pay more than NA does, it's that we have to pay for something we do not need nor want.
Hmm I'm seeing people say they don't want to take picture of themselves to do this? Guess none of them use social media or ever post a picture of them self on the internet either (facebook/twitter/instagram). Not that I'm saying the promotion doesn't sound screwed up the way they doing it.
Dear Square Enix,
We can follow your ways of the promotion to get the Maid dress n others items we want.
We will buy all the magazines from the online magazine as you promoted.
But what if the numbers of printed physical copy of magazine cant meet the demand of whole EU Account holder of players in FFXIV?
lets says they just print 20k per month, EU account got 100k, how about the 80k more players? what if they run of of stock???
have SE consider about this and alias with GamesMaster so the publishing company can supply 100k copy of magazines that same number with the EU accounts?
and ya.... 100k copy of mags per month, how many trees in our world have cut just for a magazine we don't read and affected the future?
Regards,
Yunie
I urge everyone to not take part in this promotion.
this has been the most biggest mistake that SE have done since 1.0, no one read magazines any more, plus it future publishing and been alot of heat on a few day with the driver 3 deparkel on youtube atm
You are answering your own question here.
If you buy a subscription card for a game you buy a subscription for anyway for example...you're really just getting free stuff. If you buy things you don't intend to use anyhow because that's the only way, you're really just paying for that extra stuff.
I agree with what you're saying but a major problem with the NA promotion was that they could cancel their order after the code had been emailed and got the items for free. SE has every right to say "We want to make sure this does not happen again" but a media which few people are interested in nowadays because of plentiful access to information. No. JP and NA had a choice, UK did not and EU did not AND have to pay more for it
Well, my FC mate who has probably all the possible minions and mounts and even bought stuff from JP to get all the bonus minions (damn he paid extremely much for that, all the plushies, soundtracks, outfits and minions that were accessible via fanfests etc.) decided not to participate in this so I am not really worried about the success of this event. :))
Just sticking my opinion into this thread (which ain't much of one since I agree with everyone else here) that this promotion is ridiculous compared to the JP/NA equivalents. I don't feel like waiting 3 months to get my maid outfit or buy a magazine which is not stocked in any places near me and I live in one of the uk's biggest cities. I'm sure WhSmith will stock the magazine but I can't see them alone stocking what the uk based market will want. As a promotion it is already doing poorly just in seeing the amount of rejection this has caused as I see more people saying no to this than actually wanting to go out and buy this magazine. I am really disappointed with this why not use a product like Monster, Coke Cola or whatever? Seen all sorts of products have various codes or gaming related stuff on them but I'm guessing it's cheaper to promote a rubbish magazine than to promote something that will actually help you make money.
There not such thing as privacy on the internet. It only false sense of security. There is privacy a extent using the "privacy" control but to think you put something on the internet regardless of the settings and expect it to remain secure/hidden forever is unlikely.
Seeing some of the replies saying "the actual EU one will come later on, it won't repeat this" isn't really making it better, to be fair.
This trash already happened, they gave it the go-ahead sending a very straight answer of how valued you aren't, how out of touch they are with EU and especially seeing as they made a low-tier magazine from the UK the focus. This coupled with what will the "actual EU promo" be and how will it fix how much of an outlandish and disgusting promo already ongoing?
Honestly, I don't want them to "come to their senses and not repeat this mistake in the future or when it comes time for the rest of EU" - No, I want them to never do this again, not make it different for EU, and instead just put it on the damned Mog Station; literally the only outcome that will satisfy everyone.
EDIT*
SPOT. ON. FELLA, absolutely spot on.
I wouldn't mind if it was a more reputable company and/or a more viable (and reliable) method of getting said magazines. Game Master is not available here in Australia and I'm not going to order magazines I have no desire for, just for a code. Spending $40 AUSD or higher just for a code? I may be crazy with my money at times, but notTHAT crazy. Yes the method used for NA via Amazon probably caused the need for something different for this promotion... but this? No, I don't like it...
The thing is... the way it was handled in Japan and NA... was really rather simple and straightforward. Yes, in NA it was abused by some, but it would've been far more preferable than this. Include a code or something with said purchase and that has to be entered ALONGSIDE the code for the items... something like that would've helped limit the debacle with the NA promotion.
In any event, SE should've thought more about this before going ahead. I can understand that there could have been some legal repercussions for putting the items on the Mogstation or that using another sort of promotion with another company would help (like they did in Japan with 7/11)... anything but something like this.
+1
PS (@Lexia) : I could even add I never post picture of myself since I have no interest in promoting "me, my life and myself" in any kind of social media. I even don't publish my photo on LinkedIn. I'm not one of these useless narcissic Instagram folks who are called people. People? Random narcissic individual. Nothing I care about. People from my FC can confirm I even refuse to show my picture to them. This absolutly out of question.
Never say never? Some kind of reformulation : I avoid as hell, I'm even ready to broke friendship to someone who would dare share a picture of me. Then I start by never sharing one myself.
That said : they don't request selfies, that a good point and usefull clarification.
I was going to compare how much of a blunder this to 1.0, but that wouldn't be fair on 1.0. Every stage of such a promotion has been proven to be massively flawed, repeatedly.
Note: Separate campaigns offering the same in-game items are currently being planned for those residing in: France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Nordic territories. Further details on these campaigns will be posted at a later date.Quote:

I can only hope the other EU country promotions are better than this one and that UK residents can take part in those. I live in the UK and will NOT take part in the UK promotion because it is a really bad one.
A printed magazine is just opinions and information but in this digital age with access to the internet we can get all the information we want for free...why the hell would I want to buy a three month subscription to a printed magazine that I have no use for whatsoever. Why force us to wait three months to get the items even if did take part when every other region so far which has had promotions for such items that is supposed to deliver them within 24 hours.
The price I can live with but not waiting 3 months or subscribing to an outdated and useless product. We should of got more choices of products to pick from with this promotion, ones that are not redundant and useless plus we should have been allowed to obtain the items within 24 hours like the JP/NA promotions.
It's going to be even worse if the promotions elsewhere in the EU go live within the next three months and turn out to be far less cumbersome. At that point anybody who embraced the UK promotion will be screwed over pretty badly. What I want to know, though, is why UK players are consistently screwed over. We already had to pay a much higher price than Japanese and American players for the Heavensward Collector's Edition. Now we're expected to pay a much higher price for a promotion in addition to not getting the items immediately.
I feel most annoyed about the fact that America got to PICK what they spent their money on. Japan spent it on consumables.
Their money was not wasted.
being forced to buy a magazine I dont want to read feels shitty. Like Im wasting my money. If it had been a smaller amount id have been fine, but the amount I would spend is equal to two weeks food allowance. In short we got shafted.
ESPECIALLY because it has to be a certain three issues- which will prolly have square enix stuff in but still- What if they sell out?
ALSO WHEN YOU SEND YOUR SELFIES ADD IN THE EMAIL YOU WITHHOLD PERMISSION FOR THEM TO USE THE PHOTO FOR ANYTHING- BE IT THEIR MAGAZINE OR ANY PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL.
So I went down to my local shop (in the middle of a big university city) and browsed the magazine isle to see if they even stock GM.
Turns out they stock literally 2 copies of "Minecraft World Magazine" but they don't stock GM due to their bad business etiquette and the lack of GM sales.
GG SE.
I'm hoping they'll discuss the issue during the next Live Letter. Assuming they don't forget to address their 'American' audience as their Western audience this time around.
I lol'ed a little that the EU campaign would be with a UK company  kinda ironic
Damn SE why do you have to disappoint me that much. :( I want to love you and FF14 really bad but you make it harder and harder to do so..I was even a little teary eyed after reading about this campaign because I hoped that we get something similar like the NA.
I bought a lot of merchandise for this game on your site and even purchased quite some items on the mog station only to have "that" as a EU campaign...
As someone that studies business administration I just shake my head at what exactly made you choose something like that?? The amazon deal made sense..people would get those codes with their games even if the did not play FF14 and maybe some would be curious and check this out, kinda a win win situation for everyone, be it players, SE or amazon.
Now this magazine seems to be not really popular in the UK and maybe even have a bad reputation. Since some said that online games is not even their target audience I am not really sure what the positive outcome is for SE? I mean you make your EU playerbase angry, barely anyone who does not already play FF14 will see this so nothing good for you, so the only one that gets something out of it is the UK company?? Who gave the okay for such a promotion? Especially since this is such a outdated marketing idea..:( And since it sells quite a low number of those magazines you will make a lot of the UK players even more pissed if they miss the most important of those magazines (with the outfits) after waiting months.
So people have to pay more than in the other campaigns, need to wait months to even get those items everyone wants the most and having to fear that the magazine will sell out. Send a picture of yourself (even if its just the body..) with your private mail to this shady company to even get the mount, hoping that nothing goes wrong while doing so and you thought that we would like that?? Really??
And if I want it through that campaign as someone from germany I even have to pay a lot of shipping costs and hope that it will even reach me for something that I will throw away immediately? Yeah I could wait and see how the german campaign will go, but I have little hope that it will be better and who knows when we will get that one (maybe somewhere in winter ) and if its not something good too I would have no chance to participate in the UK one...
Well *slow clap* well done SE well done..I will so pass this one even after wanting the maid dress really bad but I will not support such a horrible decision..some small part still hopes for a good german campaign or even that you just make another deal with amazon but I fear that it will be something bad too..like another magazine..
And wow...after so much negative feedback you only post one comment that is nothing more than recapping what is already written in the lodestone post?? You do know that marketing says "customer is the king" and that keeping your customers happy is really important nowadays and yet I feel like we are threated like some kind of dirt under your shoes...
Well I was still not sure if I should buy the EU fanfest ticket since it probably will be really expensive but you have taken the decision from me :D. The most you will get from me is the money for the stream version and I will think twice to buy any merchandise or mog station item again :) great job SE.
Oh, sorry! I misunderstood the intent D: It is totally bogus that NA/JP could buy things of their choosing and get the item where as EU is forced into 3 magazine purchases that they probably don't want (over the span of 3 months), and then make them submit further proof after the fact... I really don't know how they could think this was a reasonable offer.
I hope we at least get an apology for this farce, if anything the lack of clarity has hurt more than the promotion has.
Okay as the other half just pointed out.
You can get the third issue through subscription still, not the first two.
The third is the one people want most- the one that will be in the most demand.
People will sub just to insure they get that third copy, as availability will be questionable, and buy the others if and when they want them.
Gamemaster makes more money off people.
...Sounds.. a bit like a scam.
SE really screwed the pooch on this one. It just shows how out of touch they are with their European audience, and having a community rep parrot what we already know only serves to rub salt into the wound. I doubt that SE will go back on this promotion as they've already invested in it or something, but they should at least apologize for this debacle and provide future promotions that do not screw over their European player base. The North American and Japanese players were able to get their codes with little to no hassle, so why pull teeth when it comes to the European players?
Sorry, SE, but you screwed up.
Hi
for me this really Strange why we have to pay more than 30 Dollar and wait for 3 month while other get it in less than 1 week with less money
at least more time less money Or more money less time D:
let us at least pay for Digital Ver after we downlod it we get the code
it's way less than the bother to fight to get it the magazin to my house i live out of Europ
Just why make it really hard to get

read that, the issue 308 should be the most demand and they told it is too late to sub 306, 307 and only can sub 308..
sub got a good benefits, one of them is :
"You'll never miss an issue"
so means that they got limited issue... and we will be forces to subscribe to receive issue 308 for another 3 months..
well well..
I told everyone it would cause problems if people didn't get the codes fairly, and some even resorted to make fun of me. Well now everyone is complaining about this. The irony is that these protective measures could of been prevented.
