Hum no, I made the exact same zoom with Garuda and my pet, do the same extra zoom and you'll see Garuda looks like trash while pet look way better.
If the egis textures are too old, then they better redesign it.

Garuda Minion Concept Art
Hopefully when/if Summoner Glamour comes out it will come with some redesigns of the original egi as well.
People are going to quote you if they respond to you. It's just what people do on forums. I don't understand your hostility about this at all?
Also this is a forum. It's a place for discussion. You cannot expect to post something and have everyone agree with you automatically ( or to have people who disagree with you ignore it ).

Some Summoners, like myself, are going to come here and say they don't think they should be changed.. While others are going to say the opposite...
You post a thread about changing the Egi, of course people that don't want it changed are going to say something... just as much as the opposite is true... You don't get to ask people to leave or stop quoting you because you don't like what they have to say in response to you.
After thinking about this, I'm pretty sure the egi design is intentional. Primals are fully fleshed beings only when they have enough prayer and crystals, right? So one summoner can only do so much, and will only produce a fragment of what a full primal could be. Theoretically we could see an egi from a small beast tribe with few crystls, while we see Alexander is way bigger and more complex because of the amount of crystals used for him. (Or really, just raw energy from the land.) So I think the egi is partly a representation of the limits of a single summoner.
I say this because carbuncles and fairies are very detailed pets, and I am unsure of how carbuncles are brought into being, but fairies are already existing creatures that SCH bond with and summon to them from another area/realm, so they aren't an extension of the SCH's power, unlike egis. Carbuncles and fairies though, on a design level, all have "flat" coloring with glow/sparkles added whereas the egis all look like they are made of crystal and have the elements orbiting them, so maybe that texture has something to do with it.
Tl;dr: it seems like egis were intentionally designed to be unimposing, and if they were, I doubt the dev team will compromise what they want for the game, especially aesthetically.
In before someone says "I AM THE WARRIOR OF LIGHT! I HAVE 6 CRYSTALS OF LIGHT AND I AM POWERFUL ENOUGH TO MAKE MY EGI AS BIG AND FEROCIOUS AS THE PRIMALS!"
Anyway, I completely agree with you.
With the case of carbuncles:
They pretty much use arcanum and a magical gemstone to summon them.Quote:
"Adepts of the art of arcanum derive their might from symbols of power born of geometric techniques hailing from across the southern seas. Held within occult grimoires, these symbols lend shape to the arcanist's aether, thereby allowing him to produce myriad powerful spells.
Using the selfsame symbols to unlock the latent power contained within gemstones, arcanists are also able to summon forth the familiar known as Carbuncle to carry out their bidding."
EDIT: Summoners do the same thing, but since we only borrowed lost Summoner art and in reality we are still Arcanists, so we still do use arcane arts but with a Primal's essence instead of a gemstone to form them.
Also, the summons borrow half of your aether I think (?) so maybe that factors why they're small. That's also the reason why we can't summon two at once (and that it's unfair or OP in a gameplay standpoint).
I always kinda liked the poor egis, thought of them as a kind of aetheric marionette that both simulates and mocks the original primal. I wouldn't be against maybe more details in the egi model, like maybe some little glowing eyes and maybe a more feathery look to Garuda-egi's.
Honestly I'd be happy if SE just made them look more crystalline and transparent to go with the whole aetherial manifestation of a primal deal.
