Fan Census: This is embarrassing

I'm waiting until I get my main up to 60, then I will go into coil, overgeared, and walk through it. I just want the story, dont really care about farming gear or whatnot from it. Trying to do this content while its fresh is a breeding ground for negative experiences, I would rather avoid that.

They might level lock it to 50 when 3.0 meaning your Lv60 will be sync back to 50 for it, but I hope not. I really want to complete the entire Coil storyline.

I was surprised that on my server there are only 102 people who cleared t13.
Because... i know around 70-80 people who cleared it... Which is pretty much everyone... oO
(Not that i am best friends forever with most of those, one could say it's actually the opposite lol, but still, i know them)

Also... those numbers show that there are FAR LESS people who got their ADS mounts from 200 wins on Frontlines than people who beat t13.
In most servers there are less people who got the house mount for 100 FL wins than ppl who beat t13...

And I don't see people enraging that it's embarrassing that so few people have ADS/FL horse mount...
It seems the issue is too few people not having Louisoaix (sp) minion, what an heresy!! (Even though more people who have this minion than ADS/FL horse).

Thats something interesting too. the HC crowd sometimes threaten "If there isnt enough for us to do, we will quit then the game will die!" but what is better for keeping the game alive? The player who powers through all content cause "its too easy" then demands more content to satiate them (Evident by the OP that this is a marginal amount of players) or the one, like me, who takes their time and slowly plods through the content, never actually running out of things to do. Which one playes for a longer time?

I'm one of the players who doesn't mind taking his time working on contents, allows me to play the game a tad longer even if I have access to all content.

Though sometimes I like to get some things over and done with especially when you're at it for a long time, you know?

I'd be more interested in what the server populations may be. 15% of 500 isn't as much as 3.5% of 3000, for comparison.

As they said in the reddit thread the OP linked "Critera same as the last time, must be above level 21. Any changes to HP/mount/minion/gear counts character as active.", first tab after server name shows level 21 and above characters and second tab shows "active" people, other points of interest are the story points 2.0クリア and 2.5クリア tabs

Ever consider that being on a JP server you have an advantage compared to NA/EU servers due to the innate lag times.
For example, JP players can generally play ninja better cause they have less lag when it comes to doing mudras.

Hopefully in Heavensward when SE has more money they can improve the servers for NA/EU players.

Thing is you really do need both kinds of players to keep an MMO alive, which is why I was excited whenever I heard Yoshi P recognized that. Wildstar's launch was incredibly rocky because it only catered to the raiding crowd. I've seen several other "casual" MMOs develop at such a slow pace that THAT drove people away because there's no carrot to chase.

The people who clear content quickly drives developers to develop faster, because they see people are interested in the content and are actually doing it. Which brings benefits to the rest of the playerbase with a steady helping of updates. However an MMO can't survive on a raiding crowd alone because, as these numbers prove, they are not the majority of paying players. It's the casual players that do take their time that tend to stick around longer. And since they're the majority, more money comes from them. That's why more casual stuff should also get made and not be ignored.

Since both crowds are essential: a healthy MMO environment has that tough raiding content for the go-getters to sink their teeth into, no matter how few in the population they are. Simply because they discover the strategies for all the content leading up to the raid content and share it with the more casual crowd. On that same token, the vast majority of people who don't raid also need meaningful and/or challenging content, just not at the same level of raids.

The true crux as a developer is how do you balance that? I think less people would be mad at the raid crowd getting attention if this game would add more meaningful medium difficulty content or more QoL content. Housing, dungeons like Qarn and DD, more inventive Fates, etc. And the raiding crowd would be happier if there was more than one giant raid at any one time that was relevant. But that's a lot of content to develop on either end, so developers are forced to pick and choose :/

I really can't fathom why this discussion of who has more free time to dedicate to the game and who has more going on for them in their real life has been going on for pages. Look guys, you play how you want, when you want. If someone tries to force you to play when you can't play then give 'em the middle finger and move on with your life, perhaps blacklist them who knows? Why so much rage and anger going on here?

You're logged on a video game playing a game so if you're online, people gonna ask you to do stuff. If they get asshurt because you said no then why are you sitting here having a discussion about it? Just get over it, unfriend them or whatever and move on with your life. I see no reason for this discussion. I've had my share of players in the game who have done really unreasonable crap to me in the name of trolling or just real bad selfishness and I'm not sitting here on the forums making a statement about it.

You will find players who work well with the time you have to play the game and who respect when you need to leave, and you will find players who don't work well with your game times and game habits. Talk to and play with who you have synergy with and ignore the others.

Support changes to PvP and set the record straight lol.

I find it funny when people say this on T9. Just add people worth playing with on your friendlist and form premades. The fight should be down in a reasonable time. If it's *everyone else* sucking though, then I reckon the problem lies elsewhere. :P

think its evidence enough for SquareEnix to do something about content difficulty.
Or find other means of making sure players can actually clear the content at some point.

Because at the moment some try for a very long time, and finally gives up & dont want to bother again.
Wich is a shame because im pretty sure its good / interesting content.

I'd hate to be a new player from this point on & try to clear content that no one wants
to do if its too hard or to bothersome in any other form for long-time players.

Hate / flame me all you like idc, im still stuck on T9 and i got bored of keep trying,
getting new people to "train" with even if the effort was a good idea.

I want to clear it but, getting a good static team together that can

But tbh, you don't need a static to beat T9, especially not now anymore with the increase in gear and 20% echo. When I was still learning T9, I basically had no one at the same point with me. What I did? I added people that were solid at what they do/fast learners. Make your PFs to get specific kind of people. I joined Raiding Linkshells and after a week or two got it completed pretty effortlessly. And at that point there were actually less T9 parties than now on PF, at least on my server. And that was with 110-120 gear and 15% echo. The fight should still be perfectly doable with a solid PF team.

I think you should give the fight another chance and focus on finding people with a similar motivation to clear the fight. You can be pretty specific about the people you want to recruit on PF.

Why gear if you aren't going to attempt to fight the fights said gear is meant for?

I don't understand individuals with Zeta weapons (often times numerous), full Ironworks, numerous 50 classes and yet, still need a T5 clear lol

Why level up to max in an offline FF when you can often clear the game at low or even starting levels?

Some people like seeing how strong they can get, even if they don't need to be.

Also, regarding T5/9/whatever, these fights have elements of challenge that no amount of gear will make up for, considering their reliance on instadeath mechanics.

If they gave me enough incentive to play Coil (as a whole) I might bother. I don't really crave more arena fights in a meh-looking environment (what ever happened to dungeon exploration and the thrill of it?) for gear that's arguably useful only for doing more Coil. Lockouts don't help either as, when Coil(s) got released they're on lockout > cba to drama through with statics and leaving friends behind > by the time the lock is lifted I give zero effs about it. Guess I'll continue to contribute to the low stats of my server and enjoy other activities (no sarcasm there, I really do enjoy most of the other activities on offer).

Doing other battle content easier/faster, playing dress-up, because it's possible without too much hassle (aka people's tempers and egos) and so on, new story quests in each patch bumped the required ilvl up usually by 10 and so on and so forth.... plenty of reasons besides Coil.

Dammit I accidentally copied over what I had to cut and paste from my notepad. Now I'm too lazy to rewrite it. Nevermind.

why not?? where does it state we have to attempt coil if we dont... dont bother gearing up??

i havent even attempted t1 yet cause i avoid drama based content n just seeing rage in chats at times n forum posts about "certain people" not as good as the rest of the raid team causing fails/wipes.. yeah i avoid those type of gamers like the plague

Why ask why? Why do you need to understand someone else's motives in their gearing selection playing the game?
You ask "why gear up " simple answer, because we can.

Try playing Touhou or any other bullet hell games vs a japanese player, then come back to tell me how japanese will perform worse when it comes to individual content.

While I don't condone abusive behavior, everyone pulling their own weight in a team effort isn't an unreasonable expectation regardless of whether it's FCOB or a lvl 10 Guildhest.

I wouldn't let the possibility of encountering bad attitudes stop you from experiencing Coil. Besides T1-T4 are quite casual to start with. Hell, I remember DFing them when I was a new player around i80, and it's only gotten easier.

i remember when titan HM didnt have echo the amount of rage n abusive behaviour u saw just tryin to complete it for relic quest was disgusting so can only imagine it being alot worse in coil :P theres plenty of other stuff that keeps me interested and having fun in ff14 :3

Anyone notice how allot of players react defensively to the OP? Instead of looking at the percentages and moving on they feel the need to post their personal reason as to why they have not cleared coil. This is a defensive manouver your brain makes you do to preserve your own ego(special snowflake status). Your brain has to come up with a reason to justify why you are unable to do certain things.

Even if the reasons are true there is no reason to go out of your way to explain said reasons unless you feel you are being attacked.

Yeah, T11 is my favorite setting by far just because of how well they did at making it appear like you're actually traversing some kind of artificial moon.

I cleared Turn 1 and Turn 2, my group broke before turn 3 came out. I asked myself was it worth the search for another group to complete and putting in hours with new people to clear content? Nope. The gear alone is not cool enough looking to get me into FCoB when I can just get my weekly welfare handout and upgrade it.

This is because the Japanese mindset believes in working together and not in being all about me like it is in NA culture. Japanese players work together and don't rage quit after the 2nd attempt because someone may not have grasped the mechanics of a fight as quickly as everyone else.

I think a lot of it has to do with the toxic nature on most EU/NA servers, if some people mess up the mechanics even once, even in T1 through to Fcob people will quit, people will complain, people will bitch moan and in general be dicks. The Japanese players are not not like this, they communicate and try to make each other better, apologise if they mess up and try to learn from their mistakes. And hey a lot of people in the EU/NA do try to learn from their mistakes the main difference is most people aren't willing to teach or explain to people what they're doing wrong and will straight up call them out for being useless and a noob, which go figure pushes people away from wanting to do this type of content, it has a stigma for being hardcore and it is hard but people will shy away from doing something if they are given shit for not doing it in the most optimal or obscure way others do it.

If you want to encourage more people to coil first deal with the asshole community we have at endgame, then perhaps more people will feel like being competitive and completing this content.

We played WoW already, people got bored of it a long time ago. That does not even account for the fact that WoW actually does it better and for a lot of people have much less issues with delay which makes the dance even less enticing regardless of if you CAN do it or not. They got their WoW now, no wonder they have more people interested.
